As authentic as it comes, this is a natural part of Australian history. The caves are situated outside of Wellington, NSW. The caves are amazing in that they have been well preserved and a steady stream of families come from near and far to walk down the caves and hear the information the young lad shares with the tourist. This is an ideal spot for families. There is a picnic area before the entrance to the caves and there is a well looked after fenced off area for native animals and birds. We did both caves and the phosphate mine in the afternoon. It was very hot outside but the caves were cool and cathedral cave is just plain spectacular. Leave it until last. Both ladies who took us through the caves had excellent knowledge and a pretty good sense of humour too! We hadn't been here for around 40years and were very pleasantly surprised at how easy the walk from the shop and the tours were. There is no booking just roll up and take your chances when it is school holidays as it is very popular. It is the best thing to do on a hot day. read more
