Acctually WHD deseves a very strong 3-star. Compared to other German smoke-smelling hotels, WHD is a clean dream but there are still some (wifi) to wish for.
The staff is always attentive, polite and service minded. Newly build hotel and very clean over all. The breakfast is very good and I like sitting in that light restaurant in the morning overlooking the park.
The rooms are over all very nice and you get free toiletries. If you order room service you will get charged a 4 Euro service charge for them to bring up your food.
There is a very small Fitness room with one treadmill (which you are not allowed to use before 8 in the morning), one cross trainer and two different types of bikes. The machines seems older than the hotel and are loud and run down. The fitness room does not open until 7.00 AM so forget working out in the morning if you are here on business.
My biggest complaint is that there is no free wifi in this hotel. It seems very unusual in Germany as a whole to find free wifi for some strange reason considering both France and Spain seems to have caught onto this and most business hotels in southern Europe now offer wifi. At WHD you will get an ethernet cable if you request it at check-in which you can use for free internet. But who wants to be tied to the desk when you have to work at night in your room? I much rather work in bed or from the armchair. And your smart phone is out of comission for your entire stay because of this. Don't know why, but the no wifi thing annoyes the heck out of me. Can't WhatsApp with friends and family at home and can't get to my Spotify account for some encouraging beats at the gym. I really don't care if I have to pay a slightly higher room charge to make this happen, just get your guests free wifi!
When WHD gets free wifi I will upgrade them to a 4-star rating! read more
