This time, we sat and ate in the balcony. The Flying Monkey is owned by the Common Man restaurant chain so I was expecting their comfort food to be offered. Unfortunately, it was more ballpark (minor league) type fried food on paper plates. Word to the wise, go for the movies and concerts, not the food. Plastic silverware and fried food is offered (service is pathetic). Management gave us a voucher because of the incompetence of the staff. The Bacon brothers are worth seeing so it was a nice evening. 4.5 stars for the show- 2 stars for the food. Live and learn!

I actually had a $25 gift certificate to The Lodge At Belmont from a local radio station in my possession for almost a year. I decided to use it tonight on a very rainy Monday night. Blues-ology was pretty quiet with just a handful of patrons here and one bartender running the floor. This bar has the atmosphere of a Southern style blue-sy themed sports bar with plenty of TVs (though not on) lined up along the high ceilings, big screen TV at the bar, digital jukebox, video game machines, electronic darts, and classic music memorabilia on the walls (Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Stones,...) . It sort of felt like being in Mississippi, but there was actually pop and r&b playing over the speakers, so I felt at right at home in Central NH. There's seating up at the bar and table seating. A small group of women (no hubbys) at the next table were really having a great time playing several rounds of electronic darts over beers. The food menu is the standard pub fare of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads, chili, chicken tenders, and steak tips. The bar is fully stocked and several beers on tap and bottle are offered. Miller Lite bottles are $2 all the time. The nachos were a big meal in itself and I was almost already full by the time the other food items arrived. The Lodge Club (triple decker) had plenty of thin sliced deli ham & turkey, crisp bacon strps, crisp lettuce, tomato slices, cheese, and mayo on toasted bread. The hand cut fries were on the soft side though and not salted (thanks!). The Hawaiian Pizza (10") with a firm chewy crust very generous amounts of thin sliced deli ham, pineapple, & melted cheese & sauce piled on good! The bartender was courteous and the service was laid back with staged delivery of the food to my table. I had the pizza boxed to go and given a box to pack up much of the food I did not finish. The $25 gift certificate was honored and the remaining total was only $4.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, I got plenty of food with my gift certificate. 3.70/5.00 stars

This was our first visit, and it's easy to see why so many artists include it on their summer tour schedules. The surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee area is beautiful, and the venue itself is modern and well laid out. We were under the pavilion roof in reserved seating, but there's lawn seating available too if you're looking for a less expensive option. The sound quality was excellent, and despite the crowd, getting in, finding our seats, and enjoying the evening was all surprisingly easy. Concessions are what you'd expect at a concert venue--plenty of choices, but at concert prices. That's hardly unique these days. What stood out more was how well the Pavilion itself is laid out. It manages to feel intimate enough to connect with the performers while still being large enough to attract major touring acts. As someone with knee issues, I especially appreciated the golf-cart shuttles to and from the remote parking areas. If you're thinking about seeing a show here, I'd encourage it. Sarah McLachlan was amazing, but the venue deserves some of the credit for making it such an enjoyable evening. We'll definitely be back the next time one of our favorite artists comes through Gilford.

I like that there's a good slope, especially on the lawn, so that short people like me can see pretty easily. I can't speak to the food or drink quality since I've never gotten any here, but I will say that there is a nice setup of local places outside the stage area. I've heard the food prices are reasonable, and if you want to enjoy some live music while waiting for your show, there's a smaller stage out there that usually hosts a band prior to the show.

Nothing like the original tv show. Why he chose this, who knows. It didn't help that the whole first act was not funny at all. His acting made it torturous. A couple people walked out before the first act was done and a few more after the close of it. We were tempted but hung in. The second act was a somewhat funny thanks to more characters, but still...we couldn't wait for it to be over. The following is not a comment on "Oscar's" weight but on the impact of it. He is very large and reminded us all of Ralph Kramden, but larger. The 6 of us were worried for him when he had to run back and forth a little bit and was then breathing Very heavy and sweating profusely even after sitting a while. The theatre only holds a couple of hundred so it's easy to get in and out. I would highly recommend coming to see a show. The actors are professionals and each show brings a different cast. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

It is the oldest unaltered brick textile mill in the US (built in 1823) and the only industrial knitting museum in the US. It's a little tricky to find, though! We had to run into a florist shop (I figured they had to know how to get around town) to get directions. We went during a weekday so it was very quiet, which provided us our own private tour. The docent was passionate about the history of the mill. He even fired up the engines for us...music to my husband's and father-in-law's ears! This is a wonderful living museum. I'd never thought about how socks were massed produced before! I can't remember if there was an entrance fee or not.
