I've only been to 3 German Christmas markets.....Nuremberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and now Ansbach, but I personally like the smaller Christmas markets. Ansbach has a few less stalls than Rothenburg. We drove about 40 minutes today from Rothenburg to Ansbach, and it was well worth it. Parking lot right outside of the market was 1.20€ per hour, and was a very short walk to St. Gumbertus church. Visitor center across from that church had clean, free restrooms, and a nice assortment of Christmas items. Right outside the visitor center, we had a sausage sandwich with kraut and mustard. It was delicious. After the market we strolled down Uzstraße which had several restaurants and shops. read more
