I have used this service since 2021 and it was not great but decent. Decided not to use them for 2023. This company claims they have auto renewal policy and have entered my property without my knowledge and my acknowledgement . When I signed up this was never brought to my attention. I would like to warn anyone that tries to not use them to make sure that this is taken care of as well. This is an aggressive tactic and definitely hurts to have someone walk into your backyard without your approval. I would never recommend these folks to anyone. read more

Weed-A-Way is just a waste of your time and money. Last year 2018, I paid in advance some high two hundred CAD. The Weed-a-way company showed up after calling 3-4 times that too after a month. In the whole season, they showed up only 3 times and weeds were same big and green, no impact of their chemical. First year they charged in advance, so I thought the service is only for one season and its over. In 2019, I received the invoice of $65.43 dollars for spring fertilizers and weed-suppresant as per them, but in actual didn't receive any service. I know this, because to go to my backyard lawn, you need to go through a security door which opens through a code. That code was changed this year. Means they didn't do any service. I advised the company about it over the phone but they still sent me the invoice threatening that they will send the case to collection. Since the amount was small so I paid the amount to avoid any blot on my credit history. Please beware about this company and advise me if I have any legal options. read more

Had to add this business because the service was so terrible I couldn't *not* review it. Our weeds are taking over, and my husband and I battle them every summer. This year we decided to give in and pay someone else to help, since we both work full time. Initially they were very nice- said for $130 they would remove the weeds for the "whole season." Wow! What a deal! I paid, was told the following: They would contact me within 5-7 days to let me know they were on their way. They guaranteed weeds would die, and would come back if they didn't. $130 was the total price for the season. One week later, I called them to ask what was up, and why they didn't call or come. I was told it had rained, so they couldn't spray when it's rained recently. Ok. Fine. Still annoyed they didn't call. A few days later we got home to find a sign on our front that said Weedaway had been there. On the door was a bill for $64. What? Meanwhile the weeds, once small and burgeoning, had grown to over 12" tall in the back. Our dandelions in the front looked a little trampled on, but nothing else had changed. I called, and was told they definitely sprayed back and front and I should give it a week. It's been almost two and our weeds are about to eat our dog at this stage. My husband called and was told that $130 would only pay for two visits and that regardless of the state of our weeds, that had been one. They were confusing and annoying. Huge waste of money. Do not give these people your money unless you need someone to just visit your weeds and walk on them a little. read more

Further to my Wife's review above, I have had nothing but trouble with this company. They came once (as mentioned) and upon complaining that the treatment was completely ineffective, apparently sent someone out again. Despite no sign of this second visit (and the company insisting that they MUST have been and MUST have left an invoice) there was also no sign of any activity or spraying effect. Also: When I mentioned that no-one had accessed our rear garden either time (townhouse, middle of the block) because the garage keypad showed no entry, I was told "Well, we do have step ladders to access rear gardens". Just total smokescreen nonsense. After 5 separate phone calls, I was told that they don't spray gardens, only lawns. Despite someone from their company apparently having been twice to our house and not noticing the lack of lawn and also despite us describing in great detail what our garden was like before we decided if the service was right for us (and being assured it would work) the company suddenly decided they didn't do our garden anyway. I had to struggle and contact again and again to get a refund and was offered a partial (50%) on the basis of the first non-effective visit being performed. Only after the company let slip that they only do lawns and with us not having one there was nothing that COULD have sprayed produced a very pissy and rude final admission that we'd see a full refund. The refund took 6 weeks from cancelling the service. Almost all of the call handling staff were decidedly evasive about any actual facts and I was even told that it is not their responsibility to check that their technicians are spraying what they should be spraying "How am I supposed to know you don't have a lawn?" was one response. My answer was "Well, because we told you when we booked the service and your technician should have reported no lawn was present the time they came, should they not?". So I find this company to be entirely unprofessional and wouldn't recommend anyone pursue their services. read more

We had weed issue in our lawn, so we called them for treatment. They said "We guarantee that the weed will be gone", but now the season is about to end the weed is actually ZERO improvement. I will say it has actually gone worse, because earlier I used to work on it myself, so they used to stay in control. But this time, they said they did treatment, but its hard to believe/ its a true LIE. I will never ever work with this company ever again. I tried complaining, but the management (Family Business), is rude and not ready to listen. I wish I had read the reviews online before hand before giving this company my contract. I would give this company 0 stars if such an option existed. We used Weed-a-way's service in 2012 and have been hassled ever since. In 2013 they left a few messages to let us know they would be coming by for a treatment. Each time they left a message we called them to say we didn't want their service. In the spring of 2014 they left another message saying they would be coming for a treatment but, by this time, my husband and I were fed up and didn't call them back. We came home one day to find the sign on our lawn, and a short while later there was an invoice in our mailbox. I called to complain about receiving an invoice for a service we didn't ask for, and didn't want, and was told we would not have to pay the invoice. I expressed our frustration with their aggressive 'service' tactics and asked them not to contact us again. Low and behold, I received an invoice about 6 weeks later saying our account was past due. I called and spoke to a manager who was aggressive and contradicted herself throughout our conversation. She actually yelled at me when I stated that my husband and I are feeling harassed. I am appalled. Bottom line, I told her if her company ever contacted us again I would write to the Better Business Bureau. If you have lots of time on your hands and love drama, give them a call. Otherwise, walk away! I'm too old and too busy for drama and hope to never hear from them again. read more

We had Weed A Way to take care of our Lawn in our backyard. As busy person, most of the times I cannot maintain my own lawn, that's why I hired them. Their services were awesome every other week they go to our house to do the work we were great about their work done. They did an ok job on my lawn WHEN I OWNED THE HOUSE. They made it a point of continuing the next year to charge me for services on a house that I DO NOT own any longer. Completely dishonest negative option billing. I did not renew when they called me NUMEROUS times in the winter to renew-- and I told them when they called in the winter that I sold the house. I called to repeat that I do not own the house and they graciously said fine we'll cancel but then threatened to simply send me to collections if I did not pay for the service on a house I no longer own. WORST BUSINESS PRACTICES!! STAY AWAY!! We used them in 2011 and the service provided was ok. In 2012, they incessantly called but we no longer wanted the service as we were considering re-landscaping the yard. In 2013 the calls started to come again and once again we went out of our way to let them know not to come as we did not want the service. We called back many times to ensure they did not come again. However, they decided to come anyway without consent and without permission. They billed us for the "services rendered" and then proceeded to take us to collections because we didn't pay for something we NEVER wanted. I even tried to call them after all the questionable ethical behaviour to sort it all out to which they yelled at me and proceeded to hang up on me. If you call to cancel apparently you need to get a cancellation number from them. ENSURE YOU DO THIS or they will insist you never called them to cancel the services. The business practice of this company is TERRIBLE!! I see below that we are not the only ones that this has happened to. Buyers beware!! read more
