Cockpit and front end of a Soviet MIG21 fighter

The Webb Military Museum is a great little gem of Savannah. An amazingly huge personal collection of military paraphernalia and artifacts that is shared with the world. It's a walk thru history from the 18th century to modern day. You may look at it as a bunch of cluttered stuff jammed into this small space, but if you give it adequate time to examine each cabinet, above, below, and in between them, you'll keep finding treasures. I'm pretty sure I could visit this museum numerous times and find things I missed on previous visits. The biggest down side to such a crammed display of artifacts though is the lack of space to adequately label or explain each item. Being an Army vet myself with a deep interest and knowledge of military history helped, as did exploring the place with two other military history nerds. I recommend bringing one with you too unless you can get Mr. Webb to give you a tour.

Very cool small museum tucked away in historic Savannah. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, and has lots of stories and information about the collection. Essentially his personal collection, well-displayed and with captions about the origin of each artifact. Lots of uniforms, some weapons, plenty of artwork and small items. And, a surprise for this airplane geek, a MiG-21 nose hidden away behind the entry. From Russia by way of East Germany, it is well-preserved and accompanied by helmets, pressure suit, logbook, etc. Kid-friendly, though our toddler didn't get much out of it- wait till they're school age. Well worth a visit if you're a history buff, and even if you're not- some amazing personal stories behind the history. Makes history come to life, and brings it close to you- these are your parents and grandparents, and seeing what they went through is profound.

Highly recommend. The Webb family's personal collection of military memorabilia from American Revolution, Civil War to Afghanistan. We met the daughter who was charming and knowledgeable. A must for military history buffs. A wonderful new store, Wanderlust, is right down the street if you want to combine with a shopping trip.

This museum is incredible! It is a self guided tour of a personal military memorabilia museum with items from the Civil War through the Gulf War. My husband and I visited here on a whim at the beginning of July and have been telling everyone about it since! First off, both Gary and the woman who works in the morning (so sorry I forgot your name!) are friendly and knowledgeable! When we first walked in, we were greeted by the woman working the front desk. She explained the collection to us, told us the pricing, and showed us a news article from WWII. With that, we were sold! For $22, we had two cold bottles of water, and admission to the museum. The woman also told us that Gary would be arriving in about a half hour, so if we had any specific questions, we could ask him. Everything in the museum is labeled, and everything tells a story. In our opinion, the most memorable pieces in the museum were items taken from Hitler's home, a jacket and a painting taken that belonged to Saddam Hussein, and the gas mask that I believe Gary's mother wore in England during WWII. The amount of history contained in that building is unbelievable. This is a Savannah Must!

Lots of Nazi memorabilia. Mr Webb has German relatives, so doesn't shy away from the darker side of WW2.

There's no sort of progression to this collection, it is literally some dude who tried to buy a piece of EVERY WAR SINCE the CIVIL WAR. Knock him if you want (and this is easy to do- his collection is scattered and chaotic), but there's lots to see here. But, if you actually TAKE TIME to review his collection, you realize mr. Webb literally spent his entire life & fortune to pay respect to those who served. Kind of a little museum, of interest to nobody but Veterans over the age of 50, but worth a stop for them, while the wives take tea in one of those many Savannah mini-mansions.

This is an amazing young museum with many amazing artifacts from the last two centuries, but specially dedicated to uniforms and memorabilia. Everything is well labeled and selected, this is a well curated museum not owned by the government. Most importantly, this museum has so much to offer, you will not want to walk out.

This place is awesome. It's probably my favorite military museum, I saw some things that I never even knew existed. Just about everything from civil war to recent is covered to some degree. the owner is an awesome guy and knew everything about anything in his museum. It's not state or federally funded, so please donate if you can!

The most interesting and fun museums I've ever been to. The owners collection is in amazing original condition with real names and stories to go along with it. You can actually touch and pick up almost everything which is unheard of! We spent hours in here and didn't want to leave. The scavenger hunt is a fun way to make sure you see everything in each exhibit. Each war was covered from every side with no bias. You got to learn facts and see how things really was back then

This place was amazing just great history. Hearing the effort of getting more items and adding it to the museum is fantastic. It's a must go

It is a very large collection of everything spooky, odd and strange! There are entire rooms focused on serial killers, such as Gacy, HH Holmes and Richard Ramirez. We were in there for a very long time and learned so much from the women running the tour. There was even a guy in our group who had been childhood friends with one of Gacy's victims, which was incredibly surreal and really hit home how real all of this was, and not just entertainment. They also have, or are going to have, another location in Chicago which is very exciting and I would definitely seek that out next time I am there. All in all a 10/10 experience.

Even still you are heavily warned about what is in each room should you not want to see or experience something by the staff. They were so helpful!! Their regular price is $25 OR $50 for a two day pass, tshirt, tote (or a pin), and sticker. Absolutely great deal if you're wanting some merch. Very spooky, eerie, and overall an interesting time!

We reserved a few weeks in advance and had a full class of around 20 in a side room on their second floor. Our instructor, one of the speakeasy bartenders, was fabulous and kept the jokes coming while teaching us so much about cocktail-making! We learned the difference between types of cocktails, and got to do a few hands on ones together while also sampling several others. The experience was complete with a few nibbles to enjoy as we learned. We even got a take home gift! The speakeasy down the hall is also excellent. We stopped by on our way out to sample a few drinks. It has an old time historic feel and even some old pictures and artifacts to peruse. The drinks were delicious and so unique! While I do like art museums, modern art is generally not my cup of tea despite my many attempts to keep an open mind about it over the years. For a college/learning institution-based museum, it's pretty middle of the rung in its offerings. You can easily cover all the galleries within 10 minutes to an hour depending on your level of interest. They have a section of bells, which I found very unique. All of the staff I encountered throughout the museum were friendly, and the ones in the bell section were happy to ring bells upon request so guests can hear the resonance. While I wasn't overly impressed with the modern art on display, I did enjoy my short visit, and would recommend the SCAD Museum as a rainy day activity in Savannah to those who appreciate smaller museums focusing on modern art.

Strangely enough, the museum instead chooses to lead with exhibits like "1920s dentistry," "wildlife of the barrier islands," and "steam locomotives." When patrons finally get to the Savannah exhibits, the confusion intensifies. The exhibit on Savannah in WWII predeceases the exhibit on Savannah in the Civil War, and Savannah's revolutionary war history is told out of order. Perhaps the worst curation atrocity is that the museum's most famous piece, the "Forrest Gump bench," is behind a glass case. Really?
