He was at my home fixing my gate for less than 20 minutes. He charged me a $150 service fee, which I had agreed to and had no issue paying. However, without asking me or getting my approval, he replaced two batteries in my gate and then charged me an additional $150 for them. These batteries cost approximately $25. Charging $150 for two batteries--on top of the $150 service fee--was completely unreasonable, especially when I was never consulted or told what he intended to charge before replacing them. When I confronted him about the excessive charge, instead of explaining the pricing or attempting to resolve the situation professionally, he became extremely rude and unpleasant. The combination of the lack of transparency, replacing something without my authorization, the excessive markup, and his attitude when questioned made the entire experience unacceptable. I would absolutely not recommend using "the gatekeeper." Make sure you ask for the price of every single part and service upfront before allowing him to do anything or better yet, hire somebody else to fix your gate!

Secondly, I asked David to do the chainlink for me, gave him the footage and he gave me a price we agreed on. Calls me the day he's supposed to show up saying his auger is broken and he needs money to fix it. I said cool give me a little while and I'll send some once I get to the bank. In the midst of that, he shows up to the job and the first thing he tells my client (infront of my concrete sub) is that he's so broke and needs money and he doesn't know how he's going to finish the job. Mind you an hour hasn't even passed since the initial phone call. He puts in 15 of the 30 posts then tells my client the jobs 50% done and that he needs $1800 to continue the work and feed his family because his wife wrecked their car, yada yada. He continues to text and call my client (who didn't want to give him her contact info) begging for money, as well as from me. I had to fire him from the job because he literally would not stop contacting the client begging her for money when he wasn't even halfway done his portion of the job. As I'm sure anyone in here who does actual work would know, you receive a material deposit and the rest on completion of the job. My client is a nice lady and would've given me money to pay him but the first words that he said to her was that he's so broke and needs money and that made her feel uneasy and genuinely she didn't want them on her property any longer. After I fired him from the job he decided calling me and threatening me was the way to go, saying he's going to show up to my house, go tear the poles out at the clients house, etc. That being said, I don't owe David $4,000, not even $1,000. He showed up and worked for maybe 4 hours. I've had the same subs for YEARS and had no problems thus far. This guy is an actual maniac and needs mental help.
