Primrose School of Ken Caryl

This school is wonderful! Our 3 and 5 year old daughters have been going to Primrose for the last…read moreyear and have been made so much better for it. The teachers are nurturing, structured, and fun and my girls have enjoyed their time here. They offer fun events like a Halloween parade, a huge Holiday program, special guests like Zumba teachers, magicians, and folks with animals, and splash days during summer camp. The owner, director, and staff are top notch and are always considerate of the needs of the families it supports. Throughout the year they have stayed open in storms and offered care when Jefferson County schools are on spring or winter break. Enter COVID-19. Our girls were out of school for almost 3 months and it was blatantly obvious that they needed the interaction, structure, and curriculum that school offered. During this whole epidemic they have done everything they could to keep the kids and staff safe and I'm proud to say that they succeeded and exceeded all of my hopes. They deep cleaned every day, wore masks, and still kept their connection to their kids. Today is our last day of school at Primrose Ken Caryl as Kindergarten starts next week. While we are excited for the next adventure, we are sad to say goodbye to the warmth and safety of this school.

I feel the need to update my review because the La Petite Academy I reviewed is much different than…read morethe one it is now. In May/June of this year my husband and I began to notice staff were leaving. I've come to learn high turnover of staff is common in this I industry but the rate this facility was losing staff did cause my eyebrow to raise a little bit. Towards the end of the summer the director was either fired/quit/or forced to resign. The assistant director left about a month later. Followed by more and more staff. I expressed my concerns and was informed they were doing their best at replacing qualified staff etc. My fear was the good staff they had left would become burnt out and/or overwhelmed with having to pick up the slack. The final straw for us was when my 22 month old daughter was left outside in the bigger kids playground for 11 minutes. Set a timer on your phone for 11 minutes, a lot can happen to a toddler in 11 minutes. She could have been grievously injured playing on equipment not suitable for her age. She could have wandered out the fenced area (which is commonly unlocked because the latch is broken) and been hit by a car. The fence is NOT a privacy fence and is about waist high, someone could have easily come and snatched her. She could have been gone forever and it would have taken them 11 minutes to figure it out. This facility is easily accessible to the public it's on the corner of a busy street who knows who could be watching at any given time. I was told they don't have maintenance on-site and there's a work order in to replace the fence. Well this is December and this happened in October. I was even told they'd been cited by licensing for this yet nothing has been done. What this tells me is La Petite does NOT care about your child's safety and would rather push this under the rug than spend the money to fix this problem. While looking at other daycares in the area I come to find out this La Petite is notoriously known as the "Black Sheep" of La Petites. As I begins digging around on the Colorado Shines website I find violation after violation going back way before my daughter even attended. If this facility is owned by a franchisee I cannot for the life of me comprehend why as a business owner you'd be ok with that reputation. Same goes if this is a corporate location. I even learned that other daycares around the community knew what happened to my daughter which aren't even affiliated with La Petite. I filled out the Learning Group (parent company) survey and at the end asked if someone from corporate could reach out to me after I was dissatisfied with the response I received from the new director and her regional manager. No one contacted me. I'm sure the "business owner" will come on here and give some manufactured response about how my feedback is valuable etc etc. I would like the thank the teachers who are left who protected my daughter and took care of her while she was there. We appreciate you. Maybe this location will turn itself around, or maybe it will continue to be "troubled". If I were you I'd steer clear.

In addition, my child loves her teacher Ms. Jess. She is pretty much her shadow now! She takes great care of my infant and has great peaceful and patient energy for her. My son started attending in October 2025 in the Owls classroom, and from day one we have felt so supported, welcomed, and confident that he is truly cared for. The teachers are incredible -- attentive, nurturing, and deeply knowledgeable. Ms. Gina, Ms. Nicole, Ms. Heather, and Ms. Connie each bring such warmth, experience, and intention to their classrooms. It is clear how much thought and care goes into the curriculum, which is both engaging and developmentally appropriate. The play-based approach, small class sizes, and consistent structure create an environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. What stands out most is the strong sense of community. Stepping Stones genuinely feels like a family. The teachers take the time to know each child as an individual and communicate thoughtfully with parents, which has made such a difference for us. Our son has a speech delay, and since starting at Stepping Stones, we have seen remarkable growth. He is saying so many new words, engaging more with peers, and absolutely loves going to school. Seeing his confidence and joy increase has been incredibly meaningful for our family. In addition to the exceptional care and education, Stepping Stones offers **excellent value**. The pricing feels very fair for the level of attention, experience, and quality of programming provided, which can be hard to find. We truly feel we are getting so much more than we ever expected. We are incredibly grateful for the nurturing, supportive environment Stepping Stones provides and feel lucky to be part of this community. I would wholeheartedly recommend this preschool to any family looking for a loving, high-quality early childhood program.
