I did my manicure with Reonna during my last visit and found out she also cuts hair. Well I gave it a try. It's not easy to cut Asian hair. It flows differently. I did a bald fade to spiky hair. I posted a 2 star review, cause the glue kind of burned my eye, then my lashes began to kind of be sporadic, and crazy looking. my eyes itched for a few days, and eyelash extensions aren't supposed to itch,and the glue isn't supposed to smell. I've had a Brazilian wax twice before at a different place and they were a breeze compared to this nightmare. I didn't let her do the last strip because it hurt so bad. I did my research and decided on hard wax. I booked an appt for hard wax. When I got there she said she prefers soft so I thought sure you know what she's the pro she can do what she thinks is best. Well, she said she would do whatever I prefer so she started with hard wax. I remember from my last two at a different place that the warm wax going on was the sweet relief between the rips but when she put it on the wax was so hot and pulled my hair. So for the second half i let her do her soft wax preference. It hurt even worse. ((Not to mention she kept her gloves on while touching her phone in the midst of the appt. GROSS.)) I stopped her before she could finish completely so she didn't charge full price so that was nice I guess. I left 35mins later in tears and feeling like a raw half plucked chicken. The other two times at a different place I felt 100% when I left there. (Ps. I recommend European Wax Center as that's where i had it done the other two times) Long story short do not go there. They don't know what they are doing. read more

I was able to schedule a last minute waxing appointment here before going on vacation. They have great costumer service. The woman on the phone was very friendly and answered all of my questions. When i arrived they walked me down to my personal room. The room was disgusting, there was wax everywhere! On the wall, floor, the tools, all over the place. I understand waxing is messy but it seemed as if they don't care. I was handed a towel to cover myself up with (which was covered in someone else's hair). All in all the Wax Pot was able to get the job done but there was some missed spots and bruising. I am not an easier bruiser so I was surprised. I won't be returning. read more

They are not covid friendly! When I walked in me and one other person were wearing mask( at least 10 people inside). The main issue is that while I was getting a Brazilian she waxed a part of me that visibly has no hair on it, with soft wax. When I specifically asked for hard only ( you can tell the difference when applied), I left bleeding and a nasty open rip in my skin. I have been looking everywhere since moving here for a really good waxing salon and have finally found it!!! I love that Wax Pot mainly focuses on waxing...not a full service (does a little bit of everything salon). The waxing itself was fantastic as is the owner. The pricing was way better than a lot of the "larger well known" salons that I have been to so far and the person service and waxing options it top notch. There is nothing worse than a bad waxing, can't fix that or the possible additional pain caused by a less experienced wax specialist. $70 and a few burns later.. Yes, this is one of those bad Brazilian wax stories. Let's just start by saying that I've been getting Brazilians for about two years now, but my usual salon was booked up and I wanted one last-minute for a vacation. My immediate impression was dirty, the wax room seemed a little grimey, and the whole appointment was really rushed, making the experience even more awkward than usual. I thought the first wax application was kinda hot, and I wish I had said something because he wax caused a burn all across my right bikini like. It took about 5 days to heal, and did not look good, or feel good in my bikini. There was also quite a bit of bruising, probably because everything was rushed with little care. The results were just as much of a let down as the experience. As soon as I got home I had to touch up the area with tweezers, and I mean quite a bit of touch up. I don't know of this was an off day for the salon but I was pretty upset about spending that much on a Brazilian with DIY results. read more

Decided to return to this place to get my eyebrows done. They've moved to a new building which is much nicer and cleaner than the old one. Unfortunately, the professionalism seems to have dropped substantially. When we arrived, no one could find our appointment. Apparently someone had written down on a post-it and forgotten about it. All the seats for waiting were filled with what looked to be staff or friends. So we stood around awkwardly. Also, the woman at the desk was eating her lunch. I understand in a small business you may need to eat and run, but couldn't she do it somewhere other than the front desk? It gets so much worse. She took us back to the room and told us to hop on the bench. The towel over the bench was spotted with stains and grossness. I assumed she was going to wash her hands before she got started, since just a few minutes earlier she was licking Chinese chicken grease off them. But she started in without so much as a spritz of hand sanitizer! She did both our brows with the aroma of greasy chicken wafting from her fingers. Gross!! She didn't use anything to remove the extra wax left on my brows or to any lotion to reduce the redness. I suppose that's part of what makes the price so cheap. I give them two stars because she does a damn good job and is very fast. But I won't be returning to such a dirty establishment. read more

I have been getting my eyelashes (extensions) done at the Wax Pot for six months now and I am 100% satisfied with the service!! Malena is THE BEST!!! My lashes last for at least six weeks and I am just thrilled with them!! I would not even consider going anywhere else. Going to start using more of their services in the very near future. Horrible manicure. Nails were not buffed, the shape was squared instead of round and if filed too much then they would be too short, cuticles not cut or cleaned, polish was applied very sloppy. I received my manicure Thursday afternoon and by dinner Saturday, my thumb was already lifting and came all the way off. My other thumb is lifting now too. I have never had this happen! I was skeptical of the wax pot at first given the other past reviews on Yelp. But I purchased a Groupon and decided to take a chance. I'm so glad I did! I booked a Brazilian with Heather and it was very professional and quick. Other posters commented about burns and missed patches of hair, I had none of those issues. I've been getting Brazilians for 4 years now and I feel pretty confident that I can tell a good wax from a bad one. This was one of the top waxes I've ever had. I booked my 2nd one and will continue to see Heather from here on out. They have just moved to their new location at 409 SW 7th Highway in Blue Springs so the facility has a just moved in vibe but it was clean, professional looking, and pleasant. This business may have had issues a few years back but they are still in business and I am very happy with services rendered as of the date of this review. I'd give zero stars if I could. Bought a Groupon for a back wax. I know for a fact it did NOT say for new customers only when I bought it. When I showed up for my appointment, after awkwardly waiting for Malena to finish texting, she turned me away saying that the voucher said for new customers only. This had to have been edited after-the-fact. I read the voucher up and down because I was aware of their "new customer" groupons previously. She was incredibly rude stating she only makes $5 on these (the voucher was $30) and exclaims at the end that you should tip generously on the original price. I know for a fact that paper strips and wax for one person isn't $25+. Will never go back. read more

I've been going to The Wax Pot since they opened. I have enjoyed every single service every single time I have been there. Even my first brazilian was basically painless, Malena is funny, witty and makes you feel at ease almost instantly. She will definitely have you laughing by then end of your wax and it is over so quickly. There are actual times I wish she would take longer so I could laugh with her longer!! Heather was so professional when waxing my back. I'm a bit of a puss about getting my back waxed and she made it a lot easier.

This place is very dirty and a rather shabby business. While the customer service is nice and the people are polite, I have never been in such a dirty beauty salon! In addition to the furniture or work area being old and worn out, there is also such a layer of dust and just plain dirt all over that it is sad. It was uncomfortable being there. The glass tops on the worn out wooden furniture haven't seen a good cleaning in a very long time. The waxing area has dried wax splattered on the walls with worn and linen with stains and tears. The young girl who colored and cut my hair was attentive and tried to do a good job, After spending 20 minutes trying to put body into my straight hair, it looked exactly the same as before she started. I don't think she was very experienced at her craft at this point. Unless you don't mind cramped quarters and a very dirty and worn environment, I would clearly skip this experience. read more

NEVER going back! I been here 4 times over the past couple months. When this place was at their old location everything went smooth and the waxes were perfect! I mean smooth and neat. Now at the new location everything feels rushed. The wax wasn't done neatly there were still hairs. It only took 15 mins and the quality of the wax looked like 15 mins of rushed service. The room wasn't all that clean. Money was left laying around in the room waiting for anyone to take it. The towel had stains on it. The headrest for the bed was filthy. I used to love going to Melina because she always had deals on her wax services and she got the job done. But lately its like she doesn't take her clients seriously. I don't plan on going back. If you want it done for cheap than go ahead and visit. But if you want the job done right look elsewhere read more

I purchased a Groupon for a gel manicure at the Wax Pot. The appointment had to be changed because they overbooked the slot. There was no waiting, but not long into the appointment the technician's lunch was delivered. She made no secret of the fact that she was starving, which I sympathized with, but she preceded to rush through the manicure. It was shoddy at best, not even worth the discounted amount I paid for the service--let alone the $30 it was supposedly worth. There was no soaking of cuticles, no washing of hands, no moisturizer. The manicure was supposed to last through my vacation but started chipping before I even left. The file and buffer she used were clearly used and dirty. She sprayed the metal instruments with antibacterial spray immediately before use--I have no idea whether they were more properly cleaned or sterilized. I will not return and will not recommend it to anyone. read more
