I hired Nathan Barnes to detail a 2nd vehicle to get it ready for online sale. I contacted Nathan…read morevia direct message on Instagram and scheduled him to: Remove partial vinyl wrap; claybar; wash; spray wax the vehicle. It was done as a mobile service at my home. I provided water hookups and electricity for his equipment. He arrived at 9:15 for a 9:30AM appointment. He worked on the vehicle for most of the day and stopped just before dusk. This was the last week of December 2023. Upon inspection at completion Nathan had not removed all of the residue in some areas from the vinyl. He also left 2 different grease pencil marks on the vehicle which I was able to remove the next morning with a simple swip of a paper towel and some 90% alcohol. When the job was completed he wanted to upsell me on paint correction. I had just paid him $240 for a job that was not completed. He wanted an additional $450 or more for paint correction. Paint correction was not needed as I found out from the detailer who finished the work that Nathan did not. When I text messaged Nathan to let him know I was able to easily remove the grease pencil from the car's paint he responded: "Cool." While he was here he also bashed potential clients whose work he did not want to take and kept stating "My rates are going to be going up." I found this behavior unprofessional. He also wanted me to disclose other detailers rates - likely in an effort to undercut competition which is never a sign of good quality work. My previous experiences with Nathan were positive however this work was not professional or even remotely acceptable. Not once during the day did Nathan let me know he was encountering any problems with the services requested - as I was sitting maybe 25 feet away at my desk on the patio. If he was having issues he could have spoke up and we could have addressed them. He also could have assessed the vehicle before work started as well, he did not. The detailer who re-did Nathan's work charged me a very reasonable rate and apologized for Nathan's poor work. Nathan's inability to render proper services costed me additional Uber rides to and from the other detailer and to pick up my vehicle from indoor storage. It also delayed the sale of my vehicle by about a month. When he finished for the day he posted my vehicle on his Instagram without my permission and intentionally took distant shots to not expose the areas he left residue on. I thought this was unprofessional - leading his clients to believe he did a superb job when he did not. He then texted me after I commented on his post stating he left residue behind and wanted to have a text discussion or debate while I was attempting to eat dinner. I did not want a refund or partial refund. I wanted the services completed so I could move onto selling the car. Refunding me all or some of my money doesn't help my agenda of having a vehicle ready for sale. I let him keep the $240 - as he is still working from his parents driveway which is a sign his business might not be doing so well. He also sent me a message about what product to order to complete the job - I just paid him to do. I'm attaching photos of the residue he left behind - which was easily removed with alcohol. The detailer I ended up hiring to complete and redo Nathan's work was professional, thorough and highly worthy of a 5.0 star rating and reputation he has earned for the years he's been in business. I can't endorse Nathan Barnes Auto Detailing for obvious reasons at this time. I never like leaving 1star reviews but this was definitely earned in this case. Washnwerk damaged my car and verbally agreed to cover the damages. When I sent them the quote for…read morethe damages a few days later, they denied responsibility and denied ever offering to pay for the repair. Multiple other customers reported similar problems with Washnwerk. Here's what happened: I brought my car in for a window tint and picked it up to find damage on the rear driver's side of my vehicle -- white paint transfer and my light blue paint scraped off. When I discovered the damage, the manager, Garrett, acknowledged it looked like a white car had hit my car and verbally agreed to cover the cost of the repair. My partner witnessed this interaction including Garrett saying "We'll cover the cost of the damage because I don't want you to leave here feeling like we screwed you over." I did not file a police report that day because I trusted his word. I included a photo of my car that I took immediately upon discovering the damage. Upon sending him the quote for the damage, he claimed his employees denied causing the damage and that his ring camera footage showed nothing happened to my car. But that footage was conveniently deleted before anyone could review it. He also denied ever promising to pay for the damage. Because I trusted his initial commitment and didn't file a police report right away, I lost the opportunity to have law enforcement review that footage; law enforcement said they would have confiscated the footage the day the damage was discovered if I had filed a police report. I inspected my car for bird droppings the day before dropping it off at Washnwerk and a witness can confirm they didn't see the damage before it was left in their care. I am now stuck with a $1,000 deductible on a property damage claim for damage I am certain occurred at this business. I looked over the reviews left for Washnwerk on Google and found 6 other reviews describing damage to customers' vehicles such as exterior damage and new stains in the interior. In every instance, the customer reports that the damage was never remediated or at least doesn't mention any remediation. Washnwerk commented on one of these reviews claiming they wanted to make it right, but the customer didn't update their review to confirm any remediation had happened. One reviewer reported the exact same experience as me -- an initial offer to pay, later retracted. There are screenshots of these reviews below. I'd hate for this to happen to anyone else. Please choose a detailing company that stands behind their work and takes responsibility when something goes wrong. If you've had a similar experience and haven't shared it yet, please do share.
