This craft night was exactly what I needed I've been aching to create more than I consume, and this Handbuild and Chill lil session was a perfect stepping stone to do just that. Caty (the owner and our very nice instructor) gave us different tips and ideas on what to handbuild, and is even going to fire and glaze our pieces for us! I made a little espresso cup and plate for my boyfriend! We had all the tools (plus extra) necessary for our designs. Throughout the session, I learned Waveform also does a Sober Sip + Paint (delicous mocktails?? Yes, please!!)), a Wood Burning class, AND Candle Making!!? Not to mention the classes you'd expect for a ceramics studio (beginner and intermediate wheel throwing classes, as well as sessions focused on trimming and finalizing your clay piece). I am so grateful for these small, local studios. There were 5 people total in our Handbuild and Chill class, and it was fun getting to chat while we all dove into creating something new. I was looking for a new creative outlet and I was lucky to have the Instagram algorithm work in my favor (for once) by leading me to a fantastic 3 day intro class to wheel throwing with Catherine. What an amazing experience to see physics in action and feel the clay respond to your energy. It's a very meditative and fun practice, and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like to play with clay. This place is so much fun! I had never thrown on the wheel before but Catherine made it accessible with their teaching, by giving both demonstrations and hands-on support.
