I had scheduled a consultation for masseter Botox to slim my overdeveloped jaw musclesand I was really not impressed. I normally go to really good plastic surgeons in Bev Hills but I'm so tired of driving all that way so I thought this place was a nice local option. I definitely had my reservations about going to a nurse as opposed to a plastic surgeon which is why I scheduled a consultation first. However, when I went to the consult it wasn't even with the nurse that would be performing the procedure! It wasn't with a nurse at all, it was with their office staff/patient coordinator. If someone is going to be working on my face then I want to know that specific person's level of expertise and whether or not they have had any undesirable outcomes in their patients. The last thing I want is to end up with a crooked smile from going to an unskilled practitioner. All practitioners are NOT created equal. The price for masseter Botox from a plastic surgeon is usually around $10 per unit (with the exception of Dr Yoo, who charges more) and I require a total of 60 units because my muscles are kind of big. The office lady at Wave said they charge $9.50 per unit and that I would only need about 40-50 units. But I don't even think she was a medical professional so I don't know if I trust her judgement. I'm just annoyed that they scheduled my consult with their office staff instead of the nurse that preforms the actual procedure. And on top of that I had to wait quite a while past my appt time although she was nice and did apologize about that. And the place kind of smells like stale, old cigarette smoke. Wave is a prime example of why I don't like these weird aesthetic clinics in Orange County. I'm sure it's a great place for facials but that's about it. Looks like I'll be driving to Bev Hills, sigh. I'd rather pay more and have a professional experience with an actual skilled surgeon. No one understands facial anatomy better than them. read more

Today I visited Wave Plastic Surgery & Laser Center for my hydra facial. I've been so excited for this day to come as I love love love facials. I arrived at my 10:00 a.m. appointment 30 minutes prior, as requested. I walked in and was greeted by 3 beautiful smiles behind the receptionist desk. The ladies were all very sweet and welcoming. My consultant's name was Melanie. She addressed all my skin concerns and gave me some great suggestions and answered any and all questions I had, even about surgeries that I may be interested in the near future. She was very knowledgeable and professional. If you decide to visit Wave, make sure you request Melanie as your consultant. My esthetician's name was Sarah and she was amazing!! She explained each step of the process and what she was doing. She asked if I wanted extractions (as we all know) some people can't handle manual extractions) lol! But I said hell yes!! If you have respect for your skin and yourself, I don't recommend this place. When I went there for my laser treatment, there was no pre-screening procedure what so ever. They didn't care if I were pregnant, if I was on any medications that can cause dark spots upon laser treatments (ex. antibiotics, tretinoin, etc.). Dr. Shifren finished my treatment in less then 10 minutes and there was no detailed work what so ever. He just stamped my face here and there and called it done. After the speedy treatment, he quickly exited the room without any directions on post-procedure care. There was absolutely no explanation of the procedure, the few questions I asked during the procedure were all answered in one word response. It's one of those places that treat you different before and after payment. So I do not recommend you to buy packages that they try to push you to buy. Once you purchase the package, you will be treated like a begger who goes there for free services. They will not give you the quality of service you paid for. Also, this place was not relaxing environment at all. The whole time I was there, a receptionist was on the phone really loud in a foreign language, disturbing the whole duration of my stay at the clinic. Lastly, you shouldn't make your decision to go to this clinic based on all the positive reviews on this place, because they make requests to review websites to remove any negative reviews on them. This review too, might get removed sometime soon. Not sure what YELP's policy is on that. read more
