Capt Bill and John made this red drum charter a great memory. We booked the 1-5pm charter and ended up staying out till 5:30pm to catch the last drum run of the day and max out on our catches. He caught the fish of a lifetime a "Cubera Snapper" 5' 109.12 lb. I can't get the smile off my husband's face. We also caught our limit of Amberjack, Snappers, and others. We even hooked 2 sharks. Captain Cory was awesome. Two of my sons and two of their friends went with me on a half day shark fishing trip. Cory was a pleasure to chat with, and he put us on several blacktips along with a few Atlantic Sharpnose. They put up a great fight and the boys had a blast reeling in 5 to 5.5 ft sharks. I just feel like I need to let people know how great Captain Theron is. The day started out with him coming to the gate to grab us on the golf cart so we didn't have to walk too far to get on the boat with our things. There was a rocky start, the boat seemed to be having fuel troubles. Theron called his mechanic friend, who promptly came to get the boat going. The mechanic said that there was nobody else he'd get out of bed for on a Sunday. ( this speaks volumes ) The mechanic got us up and going very quickly. Captain Theron made sure we caught plenty of fish, used every trick in the book. He was patient with my youngest son and helped him catch his very first fish. Captain Theron is a kind, friendly, honest, and very knowledgeable captain. I literally can not say enough great things about him. Towards the end of our trip, there were 2 different captains who couldn't get their anchors out and he helped them both. He didn't have to do this, they were not his responsibility. But he went out if his way to make sure they were able to get the anchor out and get back in. In a world full of people who only seem to care about themselves, I found this very refreshing. I can't wait to go out again. I hope they owner of this company knows what a gem he has working for him. Oh, and we didn't run out of bait or even come close, I saw a review on here about that. This was our first time using Wave Dancer Charters and I'm glad I chose this charter. Captain Greg and "Yardstick" are the best crew on the Texas Gulf Coast. We caught the biggest Red Snappers I've ever seen in my life and unexpectedly caught some Mahi Mahi. But one thing for sure, don't bring any bananas on your trip! Unfortunately we had to stay Bayside because of strong winds but went to many places and caught Black Drum, Red Drum, and Speckled Trout. We saw dolphins and my wife and I had a great time. Long story short, this is a great crew to go out fishing with and I highly recommend them. Today I threw a bachelor party using Wave Dancer Charters. We showed up about an hour and a half late due to traffic driving through Houston and some other stuff that only happens on bachelor party. Even though we were late the crew was great and laid back. We rode out a few miles off shore and caught a ton of fish. These guys were not only good dudes, but experts at what they do. They have been fishing those waters for years and knew them very well. I booked a 6 person 11/12 hour Deep Sea fishing trip with Captain Greg. $1800 sounded like a fair price. Upon arriving at the dock the morning of we found out the captain would be a 23 year old kid. Ok! We'll see. I said all I care about is trying for some tuna. Captain laughed and said this is the wrong place for that. So after 3 hours of boating in the gulf, fist bumps when they sent one of my guys I the air, we arrive at our first fishing location. All 6 start fishing and it looks like we may have a good day. Within 30 minutes we are moving to a new location and hour away. But this time only 3 can fish at a time. After another 30 minutes to an hour. We move again to fish a "rig." An oil rig I assume. But after trolling almost there with one rod in the water, we never actually got to the spot. We then went to another spot where we again take turns fishing 3 at a time until we caught our limit in Red Snapper. Once the limit was reached, "we were heard in slow" ,says the captain. With only a couple of stops to bait some trolling rods. And look at some floating grass. We were soon notified that we were headed in. 2 and a half hours later were in the dock. I started not to write this review. Thinking I would chalk it up as a learning experience. Now we know what not to do next time. But after thinking more about it, and talking to people who had similar trips, well here it is. read more
