Support your local performing arts theater!…read more That's what my crew and I did for their recent haunted house which is performed maybe only about 6 times per year around and on Halloween. This year's haunted house was titled "Doll House." While the Hobbs Community Playhouse is ADA compliant, I personally do not recommend this event for anyone who needs a wheelchair, crutches or has difficulty walking... there are many steps. Plus it's somewhat dark. There's fog and flashing lights... the spaces are a bit tight. All of the performers did great... The giant grim reaper fast-walking folks from the parking lot to the line. Lol. The dead sailor and a guy in a top hat at the door. A giant baby with her dead bird. And plenty o' other "dolls" that qualified as hideous, obnoxious, gory, and/or creepy jumped out at us or begged us to "play with them" during our tour... You can buy tickets online with a processing fee or cash is accepted at the door. This year they were $12 apiece. We were there when doors opened at 7:30PM on October 30, 2023. The line moved quickly probably since the arrival of the first cold front of the fall season created quite a chill in the air. There was an attendant helping drivers find spots in the free parking lot. My 9 and 10-year-olds are getting more into performance arts, so we'll be back again hopefully soon!

Back on 9.25.2025 it was Emily Calandrelli's turn - she was great! My kiddos know her from Emily's Wonder Lab on Netflix. She was/is an MIT engineer, the 100th woman to fly to space, nicknamed "The Space Gal" and so much more... I sat way back in the back at the top so I could make a quick, non-disturbing escape to pick up my oldest daughter from karate. I could hear Calandrelli just fine even from there and see her relatively well, although, I should say that I can still see further than my pre-teens. Lol. If you haven't been attending these speeches, you're missing out. They're free. Just make sure to get tickets in advance on the Eventbrite app. Also, there's free parking during these events.

Rumble Productions puts on a great performance! I hired Rumble to perform an April Fools Day prank…read moreon one of my co-workers. A very talented accordion player and song writer showed up in her Elvis wig to perform the Elvis song that I requested. She switched up the lyrics to the personalize it to the guy that we were pranking. The videographer captured every moment. From the initial inquiry, to discussing the logistics and the execution it went off without a hitch! I highly recommend Rumble. I can't wait to hire them again to put on another show.
