Waterstones in Wilmslow is a nice addition to the town centre of the Cheshire town but it sadly hasn't received the modernisation which most other branches have, meaning this branch seems rather left behind in terms of overall feel, selection and even adding a personal feel through the staff writing their own book recommendations, the latter they have done here but to a much lesser extent than other, larger branches which is a shame, and rather unexpected as you would have expected this to be more common, especially in a smaller store in a smaller town which is more likely to develop a smaller and more loyal customer base as it serves a smaller population, so the need and demand for community is surely needed, even if it is a chain store which is one of the UK's largest standalone booksellers.
I do think the store was understaffed and it was a little narrow at times, they do try to pack as many books as they can into a smaller than average space. The location obviously is pretty good too being on Church Street, the heart of the town centre of Wilmslow but other than being a nice store to have in the town centre of Wilmslow meaning you don't have to make the short train journey into Manchester city centre, there isn't many more huge positives about this store with the book selection average at best, and the fact it is rather narrow at times making it hard to view certain books due to stands in the middle of shelves just getting in the way and causing a kerfuffle. 2* read more
