Rent is very reasonable and the complex is pet friendly with washers and dryers in the unit which is amazing. Also there are real hardwood floors. The maintenance crew is incredible-especially David-any issues we've had are addressed almost immediately. Valentine in the front office is great and always helpful. It's very quiet and family-oriented which is appreciated because I feel safe going for walks and not having to worry about weirdos lurking around or people speeding through the parking lots. The pool is so nice and well-maintained and I really appreciate the attention to landscaping. Overall it's been a great experience and I enjoy living here a lot.

Honestly, this place is OK if you want to worry about your car being damaged and being submerge under water during rainy/hurricane season. Or having the fire alarm constantly go off. Or having to step in dog poop every few days. Or having the sprinklers broken, leaving your doorway soaking wet and stinking of mold and being a health hazard. Your car parking spots would be taken up by random cars from the public (esp if you're parking on the top deck). Hallways are not camera monitored, so you'll probably end up finding dog poop at 8am in the morning while you walk to the nearest elevator and there's nothing management can do about it. Let's see what else? Your neighbors can be inconsiderate and the walls are paper thin. Garage doors actually never works, (but you wont know this until you're already deep 2 months into your rent and you constantly see everyone complaining and management does nothing) & there have been a lot of thefts. Garage panels are caving and falling in. The side doors (by the parking deck) do not lock, so anyone can come in. You pay trash fees, but you got to constantly bring your boxes down to the trash area? Not a big deal, but I am saying you're going to pay money for something that does not make sense, Plaza square used to be great prior to Covid, but boy are we glad to move further away to the city and pay more to experience nothing of the above! The only great thing about plaza is their OG maintenance crew. Over the past 2.5 years, we've made at least 30 friends (those kind where you actually have their numbers) in the community, there's only 7 who is currently living there now due to the increasing number of issues happening within the apartment complex. Also heard (and was verified by a few current tenants) that new management lacks communication with their tenants. There was no communication/updates about the recent water pipe burst that damaged over 30 apartments and the garage. That said, we don't care if they increase the rent, but why are we paying for the same things year after year and the building 's integrity is turning for the worse?

The experience of living in this place has been a total disaster…read more 1. This place is located in a flood-prone area. In the first month after I moved in, my car got flooded and totaled in the parking garage. The leasing office had never mentioned the possibility of this happening. 2. The leasing office treats their tenants poorly. On one occasion, when my friend came to visit, I went to the leasing office to ask for a visitor parking sticker. The sticker was just a plastic paper, and nothing more. Unfortunately, my friend left with that sticker and threw it away during cleaning. I thought it was no big deal, as it was just a plastic paper sticker. However, the leasing office charged me $100 for losing the sticker, a mere plastic paper sticker. 3. This one is the most ridiculous incident. As our lease was about to end, we notified the leasing office of our plan to move out. They claimed there was a penalty of $4500 because we notified them too late. Supposedly, we were supposed to inform them one month before we wanted to move out. They gave us two options: 1) pay the $4500 penalty, or 2) renew our lease. After checking our contract, I found no terms stating that we needed to notify them one month earlier. I firmly refused their demands, and they threatened me, saying a lawyer would contact me soon, urging me to make a decision before it's too late. I challenged them to go ahead and sue me. Interestingly, later that same afternoon, they called and informed me they would waive the penalty as long as I wrote a positive Google review. They attempted to scam me, but realizing it wouldn't work. This property is truly a blood-sucking business.

Let's start at all they care about is your money: You have your base rent ( which is ridiculously high), on top of that add on $15 each car for parking with no assigned parking so if you get home late at night your not guaranteed a spot. On top of that tack on an additional approximately $150 for water, sewage, and garbage that's divided by everyone in the community no matter if you have 2 people or 4 people living there. Let's not forget the amenities. For some reason my husband wasn't on the lease they wanted me to pay $100 for an application. I laughed. So after paying ridiculous amount of money. Theres always something that happens at Avalon and THERES NO CAMERAS. If you see a cop it's no surprise anymore. Almost every other day the cops are here for many different reasons. As a matter of fact they're here now as I'm writing this at 2am when I have to be at work 8am. TONIGHT IS MY LAST STRAW. This was too close for comfort: my husband was a witness to Car theft 10 minutes after I walked in the door by my self from working a late night. Then we have Domestic violence, drug deals in day light, needles juts sitting by the entrance to the building. If I think hard I'm sure I can name plenty more. Look I get it this can happen anywhere but I pay A LOT of money to be in a safe, family friendly environment. TONIGHT I don't feel safe and I would never want to bring up a child in this environment. What's it gonna take to install cameras? The cops asked maybe if anyone had cameras outside their apartment HE LAUGHED WHEN I TOLD HIM THERE WERE NO CAMERAS AND WERE NOT ALLOWED TO INSTALL OUR OWN. I'm glad the owners, managers, and anyone else affiliated with Avalon can sleep peacefully tonight.

The electric was wonky, my kitchen cabinets were held together with spit & bubble gum, and the office staff was indifferent to many, more serious concerns. Meantime, the monthly ass'n fee was over $300 when I sold in Oct. 2021. I was ECSTATIC to leave that complex! Bought a house in Ocean County for 1/2 what I sold for. The cans fill up quickly and they are only emptied once per week (mostly). Imagine if people were coming to visit you and this was the view as they enter. Something needs to be done. Most of the stuff in the recycle bin is not recyclable, and not collapsed or folded. The garbage is overflowing and the flies...OMG the flies. Someone is going to get sick if one of these flies gets into their home and unknowingly touches their food. This is just disgusting and completely unacceptable. And this is every week. Rent has increased close to $400 dollars in the last five years, but services are less. Rather than increase pick-up to twice a week, they let this continue. Part of the problem is the tenants, but complex this big should have the trash picked up twice per week. The people who work there don't live there, so they don't care. If you can afford the extra $, chose Tanglewood or Ridgedale, both are super clean. If my relative could afford to move they would. However, I think appropriately timed garbage pick up should not require an additional $400-$500/month in rent.

The building is very welcoming and it feels like home. When the property manager, Melissa, showed me the apartment I said, "I want it." It had a positive vibe as well as the whole building. It is in a great location with access to stores, highways, parks and it even has an adorable dog park. It's sad that some of the residents with dogs don't abide by the rules with keeping dogs on leases or cleaning up after them. It's a shame that the property manager has to put out call blasts to remind the tenants with dogs to remind them of the rules. The management team is always on top of ANY issues with ANY concerns from the residents. They address them immediately. Unfortunately, some residents don't abide by the rules set in the contract and these are the people who write negative comments. During the last 2 snow storms, Gillette Towers did an exceptional job with cleaning the sidewalks and parking lots. It's a shame that Melissa had to send out several call blasts to the tenants to move their cars so that the lots can be cleaned. It's sad that a few tenants didn't comply and the plows had to work around them. Andy and his team were out during the blizzard during the night keeping up with the piling snow. They did a magnificent job and the best to their abilities. There was a flyer in the lobby if you needed your cars cleaned for a small fee if you weren't able to do it. It's not Andy or Tim's job to clean your personal vehicles. Andy is an amazing maintenance man. He is always friendly and kind. Andy and Melissa always greet everyone with a smile and warm pleasantries. There is no favoritism here. Anyone who has any negative words about this team are the ones who don't like RULES!!! Gillette Towers is a great place to reside. The residents are nice and the buildings are quiet. There's no loud parties, just peacefulness. I highly recommend Gillette Towers to anyone who is looking for this kind of living environment. All I can say is GIVE respect and you'll GET respect. It's a two way street.
