Don't get me wrong or think I'm being boring as we like to party and have a good laugh as much as anyone else it's just we have an 18 month old baby and therefore this quieter site therefore suits us. The site has many awards under its belt and also has its own pub what is an absolute must. The bar is an old barn and all are welcome including dogs. It has pretty good facilities including good showers and the on site shop gets you away with any essentials you may have forgotten about. The views are good over Ullswater what is about 1 mile down hill. In general the site is small, low key, dog friendly, not over run by kids, quiet site and in a good location.

There is a pub on site which sells local beer and lager however the owners are missing out on the fact they could make a mint if they started selling bar food or meals. Our weekend was really nice however there were quite a lot of children running around the site making noise during the day when there is a playing field provided. I havent a problem with this but the parents should have more respect for other people who are here to relax. Overall we liked the site and will definately be coming again. Close to pooley bridge and penrith. Keswick is easy half hour drive.

Park Foot caravan and camp site is a BIG place that spreads out over many fields and areas…read more In the peak season it gets really busy and there is as many people here than in an average town so if it's a peaceful type of break you are looking for then this site may not suit you as the more busy it gets the more nosier it becomes. The club house also gets busy and there is a takeaway that suits some. For campers you don't get an allocated pitch but they tell you which field to pitch in and if you are unlucky it may be one of the top fields that are on some heck of a slope. If its beer drinking, party going enjoyable trip you are looking at then this will probably suit you. Always review these sites before booking so you have an idea on what you are going to. The shower and toilet facilities here are good so at least that is something.

Been booked into this site 3 times now as come down with a yearly group booking, unfortunately this…read moreyear was a bit disappointed that our group was being charged a deposit for noise disturbance when in previous years we have never had any problems and we are supposed to have had our own private area on the campsite. However this year after being told the area we had booked was for our group only, we turn up to find other campers in our area . Then families with small children turn up who then end up being the ones causing all the disturbance and being reckless around our vehicles. Also another downside this year was the amount of flies in the restaurant area and on the food that was waiting in the hot plate. And the service was rather slow this time round as well with waits of up to 45 mins for breakfast when the place was empty.

As you drive onto the campsite there are sacks of logs for you to buy - because here you can actually have a proper campfire(in the allocated fire circles. The site is a couple of large fields, a pond with a small kiddies playing area, a well maintained shower block and nothing much else. Set in the most idyllic out of the way place (although theres a couple of small pubs a short walk away). I live about 15 miles from here, and we often pack our tents after work and pop down here to spend the night chatting and relaxing round a campfire. Brilliant

There is also gifty type sets of hats and scarves, torches, flasks etc. Upstairs there is a good choice of camping stoves and utensils. Plus boots, sleeping bags, tents etc. Very popular during festival season. Pricing is fairly average. Good comprehensive stock of kit for the outdoor type - saves you having to drive to Keswick to get stocked up if you are planning a camping trip

At the foot of Helvellyn, and a few minutes walk from the centre of Glenridding, it has all the amenities that you need for a break in the country. Glenridding is on the shores of beautiful Ullswater and there are few more breathtaking places in this country. You can purchase fresh eggs and milk at the farmhouse and at weekends a breakfast van sells bacon sandwiches and cups of piping hot tea and coffee. In addition to fields for camping, Gillside also has a Bunkhouse that can be booked (sleeping 20 people) and a variety of static caravans, in addition to providing space for people to bring their own caravans. The tariffs are exremely reasonable and bookings are not taken for the camping spots. During high season it's advisable to get there early as the site fills up very quickly.
