Playing the course in late October, added a new level of difficulty to the course other than the…read morealready challenging track. The weather was mid 60's which is not conducive to long ball flight additionally the course yardage on the scorecard was mathematically not long, so why did it play so difficult? Elevation changes are common, walking off yardage from the marker's is important to a player that desired it. I mis-clubbed all day and the dense air coupled with 6 beers the evening prior and I just could not score. The greens hold approach shouts quite well as they were damp, but not soggy. I could not wrap my mind around how lightning quick and how much subtle break were in all of my putts. I made one 8 footer all day-nothing outside of that and little inside of that. Its the shortest longest course I have ever played..

I gave it 1 star but I have hopes that they will start running it like Jeff did when he was in charge. Classic Michigan ski resort…read more.. I learned how to snowboard at Caberfae 25 years when in college, and this was the first time back since then... Caberfae was alright back then and still is today. Caberfae is a decent sized Michigan ski resort with no lift lines but minimal amenities, and can be a blast on a powder day. The biggest drawback though is if it's not a powder day, have fun shredding on a sheet of solid ice. After 22 years in the USAF and snowboarding all over the world (I am admittedly spoiled), I forgot what snowboarding on ice feels like... Ouch for anyone over the age of 40 lol. Although Caberfae does a good job of snow making and grooming of trails, the lack of continued fresh powder makes the resort an ice rink when fresh snow does not fall... Add in all the beginners that frequent the hill (and there's a lot) and this place can be a hospital bill waiting to happen, so be aware and have your head on a swivel. All-in-all though, Caberfae is a good family-friendly, beginner's resort, with respectably priced lift tickets, and has enough terrain to have a fun day on the hill. Dave Portnoy 6.8

Greens are a little slower for the area but can be considered a nice calmer way of playing than usual. However the cart I was given had a defect whether it wasn't charged or it was a poor cart. Asked the manager for a new cart and instead of getting one the manager rode around in our cart and convinced us it was fine...it wasn't. Instead of a normal card speed of 12-15 mph it was around 5 the slow speed was a constant annoyance. I found it weird he didn't give us a new cart considering it wasn't busy. Other than that poor customer service the course it self was great. Would recommend to others but hopefully anyone who goes there gets a good cart because if you don't you can't switch for whatever reason.
