Obviously, there is no irrigation for ANY part of the course. The green's are like playing on a tile floor with holes punched in it. What would (normally) be a straight putt, could break in literally any direction. 50% of every green's surface is dead grass. No sand trap rakes. The tee boxes and fairways were in horrible condition (more brown than green). Half of the holes don't have cart paths. Their fix for covid, essentially makes the hole about .5" deep. There are no maps of the holes on the cards. Half of the holes have no signage indicating yardage or a map of the hole. The holes have 1 tiny 3" cement marker that's hidden under the dirt. The cart cleaning kid's response was to "how do we get to the 10th hole?" was "I don't know you would have to ask inside"... This course AT MOST should be charging $8 a person so you should spend your $56 (for 2 people and a cart) on literally anything else. This is not passable for a golf course under and conditions.

We chose to play the back round of mini golf because it was mostly in the shade. Parts were worn down and could use some refreshing. Overall, it was a fun course, and we enjoyed breaking away from the TV and doing something outside. Fran times. Fun company. Fun time filled with giggles. I won't stay away so long next time.

Yurt life for the win!…read more Since we had a staycation this Spring break, we decided to take a small trip to Muskegon State Park and stay at the yurt for two nights located in the winter sports complex. Check-in went smoothly thanks to an email with the combination and directions. The two nights cost us $120 to book online and the yurt was rustic, (no electricity or toilet) heated by a wood burning stove. We loved the experience, but the walk is a bit long to the out house, approximately 60-100 feet away. We brought our pillows, sleeping bags and extra blankets, since Spring weather is variable near Lake Michigan. My hubby got up every couple of hours to tend to the fire. We felt warm, but never hot. Definitely felt like camping, but it was nice to have a solid structure with bunk beds and a table to play games at. Wood is provided by the park for the wood stove, but not the outdoor fire pit. They have blinds on the windows for privacy and a battery operated lantern that can be hung with different brightness settings in order to play cards or read a book. This yurt can easily sleep 4-5 people and up to 7 with the pull out cots (though it would be a bit crowded). There are a plethora of trails and it was fun to check out the ice skating trail, cross country skiing trails, and the luge (even though it was closed for the season.) It looks like they also have zip lining and a fun playground to enjoy come summer. Across the road is a campground that overlooks Lake Michigan with plenty of seating to enjoy a picture perfect sunset. We've already rented a spot across the road for the summer and may check out the zip lining opportunities then! I heard they also have several luges on wheels that might be fun to learn how to manipulate. Those courses look awfully fun!

The visitor center is a nice surprise, they've got a little nature center inside with live animals, saw a turtle and some fish in there, and the kids were obsessed. Nothing crazy or overdone but just enough to keep them entertained and learning a bit about the dunes before you head out. Then you hit the stairs up to the top and whew, worth every step. The view of the water and the dunes from up there is gorgeous. Staff around the park were friendly and helpful too, made the whole visit easy.
