The building is decorated in a comfortable style and I am proud to bring guests here. The staff is extraordinarily nice and helpful. The dining room servers are usually teenagers and they try to make us happy. I ask for something and frequently the answer is "of course". There is always something I want to eat. (The onion rings are the best ever). The building is older and appliances are tired. But they work. I am content.

My Dad fell in the middle of the night and was left on the floor until the morning because no one noticed. I had been trying to tell the care staff he wasn't doing well but they could not bother to update his care plan as required by law every 3 months and never seemed to take me seriously. I would call the person managing his care and not get called back. Everyone was always too busy and nothing was important enough. The staff always seemed beat down. Then once on hospice care they left him in pain for 24 hours because they could not get a fax order to change his medication. Yes, that's right they could not get a fax because they did not have an e-fax system. I finally blew things up but for the amount we were paying the care and some staff are terrible. I would not send someone I hate here. I know it looks nice when are touring but you have been warned. This was horrible and we need to do better for out elderly.

We came during the transition from Ackerly and it was difficult, especially on the business side and I am not completely satisfied on that front. Invoicing and ACH has not matched and caused agitation. Monthly texts for proper communication and documentation has continued until just recently (6months). However, I only have great things to say about the memory care unit and staff. They've been stretched, they've pushed and they have been dwindled. However, the staff continues to be amazing. The managing director, Emily, is fantastic. She's worked double time and double responsibilities since our arrival and always has a smile on her face. Med techs are fantastic, personal attention and communications - throughout our residency. Recent additions of new social activities staff: Michelle and Stefana has been incredible. The two work with residents in groups and independently. They reach out and include family members with texts, emails and photos. They have implemented new practices. It has been amazing. Recently they hosted a surprise birthday party for my mother- serving her favorite things, pizza flowers and decorations. It was amazing. I love the personal attention the staff brings to the unit. Fresh baked goodies, dressing my parents up for occasions- including curling hair and makeup. They truly seem to care. I'm so happy we moved. I'm not always around and when away I am confident my mom and dad are in loving hands.

The residents aren't walking around like Zombies. They're smiling. Interacting!! Having fun! My mom is currently at a spot where not many residents are mobile. Where by 6pm it's a ghost town. And where the staff (minus ONE amazing staffer,) just doesn't care about the residents. It's pretty and new there but there is no warmth. No LIFE. Here at Merrill Gardens, there are so many activities that they have to print it on 11x17 paper and even then, the days are STACKED full!! They have two working vehicles for transportation. With two smiling drivers (Robert and Bob...no joke!) There are daily movies, bingo and bridge and coffee club and crafts and so so much more!! There's margarita Monday and Wine Wednesdays. Friday is a special cocktail hour. They want to get people together and having fun. And they do. And have I mentioned the food? It's actually really good. They have a menu. And a BUNCH of chefs and two restaurants. And 18 servers!! Oh and the staff. Have I mentioned them?? These people with smiles and hugs and WARMTH. All wanting to make it truly HOME for these people. The new leadership of Melissa Ubiles and Karla S bring a warmth, kindness and levity that was missing from Merrill Gardens. I'm so excited to move my mom to her forever home and to have these wonderful people taking care of her!!

The food has put weight on our father, so that says good things about it being likeable. The Regional Director, Matt, is another story. When a new resident brought bed bugs into the building this summer, our father's apartment became infested. He was moved out of his room 3 times into a temporary room, not being allowed to take any of his possessions with him to the temp room. In Sept, we had had enough of him being displaced and requested a whole new apartment. We were left to clean the fumigation chemicals off his belongings (for the 2nd time, because their staff was worried about their own health and safety) and replace items. We had to replace his bed and bedding, lift chair and many clothing items that couldn't go through the hot water process, due to being dry clean only. The total bill was $3726. We asked Regional Director Matt for reimbursement of these expenses since their loss was not caused by our resident. Matt has not responded to this request. We paid the full $5580 each month for ALF, with our father living in what looked like a stark hotel room. We believe the multiple moves over the 3 month transition has sped up his cognitive decline. It has been noticed not only by the family, but by Rosewood staff. We picked Rosewood because of it's proximity to family. If it wouldn't speed up his mental decline more, we would move our father to Marquis in Forest Grove or Avamere at Bethany.

I had been looking for a home for a few months and decided to get serious about it. I found Felicia and we met a few days later to discuss what exactly I was looking for. She explained how the process would go from start to finish and provided me with a detailed packet. After our meeting she immediately set me up to receive daily emails with listings and new listings on the market. A few days later we were already looking at properties and I kid you not, I found the perfect home! We put in our offer and a few days later we were under contract! Buying a home is not like buying a car or renting an apartment, there is so much paperwork, tasks and information you need to do/know. Felicia handled it all! She would email me anything I needed to know or complete and follow up with a text to see if I had any questions. If I did, she was available almost immediately to go over everything by phone. She had several recommended contacts that she worked with. I was able to get my inspection scheduled and completed on time and they were extremely thorough. There was also some electrical work that needed to be done and she went out and got me several bids. This all was going on during the pandemic and Felicia took care of everything. I am so thankful to have found such an amazing realtor! I highly recommend her to everyone, you won't be disappointed!
