This was my puppy's first experience with a professional groomer and the staff at WashPaw were the sweetest! My puppy, Maeve, came out so fresh and clean. I'm not sure how they did it, but her ears looked amazing, her nails were ground down, and she was so unbelievably soft. I seriously just don't know how they do it! Their prices are comparable to PetSmart, so it is worth it to support my local small business. Especially with these uncertain days of late. You can also sign up to receive emails and to keep up to date on specials they may have. Just a note, for now, picking up and dropping off is all done curbside. This little place is a little tricky to find, since it's at the back of the building, but totally worth it! We found a stray dog a few days ago that smelled like it had been outside wandering for a while and was in desperate need of a bath. We tried giving her a bath at home, but there was only so much we could do in a bathtub with a cup pouring water over her...and this pup isn't fond of baths. After a few days of not being able to find her owner, we have been working to find her a new home, but knew she needed a better bath since she still smelled a little bit. Since we didn't have shot records, we looked for a DIY dog bath place, and found WashPaws, so glad we did!! We went into WashPaws on a Saturday morning and there was about a 35 min wait for a tub. We put our name on the list and were told we would get a text when it as our turn. Sure enough, we waited in the car for about 20 min, then got the text that our tub was ready! One of the women working there gave us the rundown of the tub and the different shampoo options and we got to work! The tubs are raised so your back isn't killing you after the bath is through. The basic bath included unlimited wash time, three shampoo options (natural, organic and flea and tick), an apron to keep the human dry, a shammy to dry off your pup as well as a blow dryer and an ear cleaning and nail trim by one of the staff was ONLY $18!! There were also a list of upgrades you could add to your service, including a variety of college and NFL sports bandanas! I scheduled an appointment for full grooming as my normal groomer was unavailable and I had a new rescue in real need of dematting. However, since I'd been able to secure another appointment and needed to cancel. This is where it gets interesting. Prior to my appointment, I received two emails and two texts saying my appointment required confirmation and if I did not confirm the appointment, I could lose the spot and it would be considered cancelled. Additionally, they have a 48 hour cancellation policy that will charge for the full groom. (You have to enter your credit card info at the time of online scheduling.) I did NOT confirm the appointment, but somehow received an email 48 hours prior to the scheduled time that I WAS confirmed. Their only instruction to cancel it to call their local number. There is nobody to answer the phone and the automated outbound message has an ability to schedule an appointment, but no option to cancel or leave a message for callback. Additionally, they do not provide an email address for help, with the only other contact methods stated as social media like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest etc. when trying these methods, there is no ability to direct message or leave a post for help. Lastly, when checking their Tennessee business registration, there are no names or contact info provided and their mailing address is PO Box downtown - so no options there. As I am within the 48 hour period, I fully expect to be charged without receiving or needing the service. However, if they are going to send reminders to confirm, and you don't, but are confirmed anyway...and they do not provide a viable way to communicate to cancel; at best I can assume their back office is disorganized (or their technology for communication was not created to be effective) and at worst assume that this is difficult by intent so they can charge for services not rendered. Washpaw may provide a valuable service, and may even have good groomers, but their business practice of limited ability to contact and obfuscation is a little shady. read more

Ok, so my dog has a bit of a reputation as a yapper. But his cut is always perfect when I pick him up! And the renovations are awesome! The self grooming rocks as well. However, our German Shepherd can just stay dirty! If you thought the little dog acted a nut job.... WRONG! My GS shows ever bit of foolish behavior possible! And yet they want us back. I leave there soooooo embarrassed, but they just help you through it! Can't beat that! They don't roll their eyes, laugh at you nor make you feel like the worst dog owner ever. Again, I say visit at your pet's peril. I wasn't able to contact any sooner because I have been taking care of sick family members and a friends son had died the night before. I was a little overwhelmed to contact someone about a review. I emailed this business through their website and they say they didn't get it so don't try communicating with this business through their website. When this business owner called me he immediately started accusing me of doing something to my cat and blaming it on them instead. That is the dumbest thing to say to an upset client and I never asked for a refund. I did lose my cool on the phone because this guy kept arguing with me and cutting me off when I tried to talk. I reported this to Better Business Bureau and on their online form they ask for resolution amount and I replied the cost of my service if possible but at least the tip. If I'd have known my cat would have been injured I certainly wouldn't give a tip. I asked if I could view the footage after they told me they had video and I was told no. I was never told that I could come by their shop to view footage. And I don't know what my previous reviews have to do with anything. I have included the pic that WashPaw sent me to show she was having a good time. Doesn't look like she's having fun to me. None of the facts have changed on my end, they are just trying to cover up their shady practices. This place was awesome- it's packed on the weekend, but the service was great. They have two different "self bathing" options, the standard which is just a bath, or a premium which is $25 and SO worth it! You bathe your dog, then the attendant comes and brushes their teeth, Trims nails, cleans ears, spritzed them with puppy perfume and put a cute bandana on, and ta-da! Great service. We came to washpaw on a Saturday morning, and there was no wait! We arrived right when it opened at 10 AM. Our Australian Shepherd isn't fond of baths at home and isn't fond of grooming either. This place was great! $18 and they provide shampoo, towels, and everything you could possibly need (without having to deal with the mess at home). The people working there were super attentive and explained everything, and then cleaned our dogs ears and cut his nails and he didn't seem phased at all. Will return! read more

We had 2 dogs and were crammed in one bay with a packed room. The one attendant tried to up sell 2 dog baths to cost $50.00. That's beyond ridiculous because if you are a member it's 12.00 per pet. On top of that the place was completely disgusting. She then had the nerve to tell us to put the dog on the leash as we're picking her up out of the tub while the leash is in my hand. I am a small business owner and my MIL owns a grooming shop in NY. I also used to groom dogs. I did not want to write a yelp review because I do not want to hurt a small business. I asked the totally rude lady behind the counter if I could speak with the manager so I could personally tell him my concerns- she offered for me to leave my number and he would call me- which he never did. So here I am. When this place originally opened I loved it. Local feel. Friendly staff (looking at the sweet Hispanic gal- who I still love) and even the owner. It had some kinks (like no grates at the bottom of the tub) , but the friendliness, great perfume scents, and shampoos made up for that. I assumed they'd upgrade as time went on. But, still no grates so the dogs are standing in the soapy water. They changed the dryers and insisted that if you turn them up too high- it will harm the dog. Which is NOT true. It's because the breakers kept breaking if more than one dryer was going at a time. So they made everyone keep them lower so this wouldn't happen. Which in turn takes way longer to dry your dog. If the dryer was harmful on HIGH... The company wouldn't sell the dryer. So then I got over the dryer and the grates and still went back. It's only 2 blocks from my house... well this time was the last time. The newer older gal is crazy cold to all her customers -she shouldn't be in customer service. The Hispanic (I think) gal is AWESOME. So, so, sweet and helpful. I went in after not being there for a few months and I was Nickel and dimed for all the things that USED to be included! I was so surprised- all the other self bathing houses include these things... Perfumes and Bandanas are extra now? Those things cost next to nothing for you... why take that "spa feel" away from your customers? She handed me a small, flimsy towel and showed me to my tub. After the bath, the tiny towel barely dried half of my long haired dog... "may I have another?" - "they're an extra dollar." She said. "Are you kidding me?!" I was pissed at this point. "'No, it's an extra dollar." So I just took longer (and spent more than a dollars worth of electricity) drying my dog with the dryer (at half the power, of course!). What's the deal? I can get over the dryer and the grates... but this last experience was terrible. You guys went from being a friendly neighborhood shop to a nickel and diming rude place. Take my advice, or not. But, I won't go back again. And others will catch on. read more

I took my dog to Washpaw for several years and was even a member. Then suddenly one day when I called to make a grooming appointment, they told me they were full for the next 6 months. They refused to tell me when they might have an opening and kept insisting that other clients had just gone ahead and booked every appointment for the rest of the year. I was never given that option and was extremely frustrated that they were so rude. The groomer did a decent job in the past, but their rude customer service forced me to look for another groomer. I even followed up 6 months later and received the same story again. This is not how you handle a loyal customer who had been consistently coming and tipping generously since before "all of your appointments filled up." Don't waste your time with Washpaw. read more

I have gone to WashPaw many times and with a couple different dogs. The staff is always very accommodating and friendly, and are good about explaining the process for those who haven't been there before. It's a self service operation, but I believe they also do full-service grooming. Anytime I have gone, I have been able to walk right in and get my dogs bathed. They're also clip your dog's nails and clean their ears after the bath. But there have been times during high peak parts of the day where there is a wait. However you can provide your phone number and they will text you when A spot opens up. One of my dogs is older now, and while I bathe her at home, I still take her in to WashPaw get her nails clipped. I took her in this weekend for that, and got right in. The manager who clipped my girl's nails was so gentle with her, and had us in and out in under 10 minutes. It's a great self service to use for bathing your pooch, and I'm happy to have it in my neighborhood. One suggestion...it's tricky to find if you don't know what you're looking for, so some additional signage might be helpful. It's located in the back of a small business building that also houses an insurance office and eye doctor. read more

I've been going to them for over 2 years now and love to see how they are growing while maintaining the same excellent customer service I've come to expect from a great owner with a high standard for her facility and staff. Every single staff member is kind and obviously loves animals. They always go above and beyond to communicate about the process, noticeable changes in my pugs and provide recommendations/referrals for any of their suggestions. Prices are fair. Location is clean. Willingness to try and accommodate scheduling issues when they can. And best of all, my pugs leave relaxed and take great naps without the stench of wet dog in my home. We love wash paw but their prices just went up and since their hours aren't as flexible I'm not sure we will still go there. Update 7/29/16: I went to take our dog back for a groom today. Last time we were in there they clipped one of her skin tags and she bled a lot- even after warning them of her skin tags. Today I came at our appointment time and everything had changed: their prices went up a couple bucks again- that's fine. But they have a new policy about picking your dog up no more than one hour after they are finished- but they can't tell you exactly when they'll be finished. This obviously doesn't work for people with any sort of life. I have a feeling they will be losing clients that need to drop their dog off on their way to work and grab them on the way home. I liked the easy-to-use shampoo & flea shampoo "trigger" hoses. She also had full service grooming and you could tell the dogs there were very happy and getting tender loving care. We choose the Premium self wash with included a donation to a.local charity and an upgrade to sand our dogs nails. This was a great experience for us and our one year old Golden Retriever. I have two very anxious pups.. a Bichon, who is a rescue so has psychological issues I can only imagine and thinks anytime she is going something place that smells like other dogw she is going to be left, it's an ordeal. Then we have our princess shih-poo who hates to be away from home where she rules the roost and has humans tending to her every want 24/7. We had tried mobile grooming, but both freaked out because of the noise. I heard about this place and talked to the owner and decided to give them a try. Drop off was still a bit of a pain, but this was the first time I've ever left our dogs anywhere where they weren't shaking when I picked them up. UPDATE: We no longer take our cat here. They increased their prices astronomically, and they keep changing their hours. I don't love the new ownership. We now have a grooming kit at home and do it ourselves, even though that's a HUGE hassle. We like it here. Our cat gets a good haircut most of the time, and they're good about responding quickly once he's done. Good facility but a little noisy. Our one complaint is the lack of consistency. There is usually someone different in staff when we drop our cat off, which leads to inconsistent haircuts for him. We always have to be sure that we are very clear on what we want, and sometimes we have to have them fix it before we leave. However, overall the experience is quite good, and their staff is very pleasant. read more

I always bring my own shampoo...it sounded like they may charge extra to use their shampoo (I noticed a strange timer machine next to the shampoo dispenser. And the guy who checked us out said, "& you brought your own shampoo..." Could someone please let me know if they charge extra because I don't always have my own shampoo with me. I know the used to not charge extra, but it would be good to know. Four stars instead of five because of the music...it needs to be classical to help ease the dogs in a sometimes stressful situation. I drove 30 mins today and waited a week for my dogs haircut. I have been going for a month's and always been happy. Today I was told it was cash only and could be weeks before it was fixed. After I made this appointment I was now required to give a credit card fine no problem. Today she refused service and was rude as hell. I offered to give credit card make a photo copy with written premission to charge card whenever she refused. But said had I not shown up she would charge me tomorrow for that. How does that make since?? She then said she would hold my driver's license then went to back and said she couldn't do that now. I left my dog brody only because of Teresa who cuts his hair was so nice. The lady upfront told me I wouldn't be getting him back unless I came back with cash. read more

Absolutely fantastic experience. We've been traveling with our pup for a few days now and we're desperate to get her washed before headed onto the next leg of hour trip. The two gals working the front desk were beyond accommodating and kind. Very big wash bays for our 120 pound Cane Corso. They even include a free ear cleaning and nail clipping with the oat basic package ($12). I just can't say enough good things about this facility and its staff. Brought my pup in for a self-serve, do-it-myself bath and wanted to share the ups and downs. Things that need a little improvement or you should know before you go: 1. The hours are apparently Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. (with the last time you can check in being 7:00 p.m.) On their FAQ page, under "hours of operation," something totally different is listed. I almost didn't go today but decided to roll the dice. 2. It's LOUD in there and they weren't particularly busy on a random Tuesday at lunch time. There are 4 DIY bath tubs and there was one other DIY customer there when I went. Both my dog and I have noise sensitivities and those commercial grade blow dryers are crazy loud. Loud to the point that when I was speaking with the front desk woman, I was leaning in and screaming like we were at a concert. I say this just in case you or your pet has similar issues to give you a heads up. 3. I was offered one of three "included in the $12 DIY bath price" shampoos and was sorely unimpressed. Next time (and I suggest the same for you), I will definitely bring my own. When I arrived, there was a woman mid-bath with her dog and he looked like he was in a shampoo commercial...standing there smiling and a coat of bubbles and suds. (I later learned this customer had brought her own shampoo.) When I was set up at my station, they brought over this clear, plastic squeeze bottle that looked like it was filled with water (it mostly was). I shook it and looked and thought maybe they know a secret about shampoo dilution to make it easier to rinse it all out. I thoroughly wet my pup's coat and went to squeeze the "shampoo" on and it was literally like water. You know how you try to get the very last out of a bottle at home and run some water in there and that last serving is pretty watered down? Well, what I was given was like you had done it two more times. I saw nary a bubble. I asked mid-bath what was going on and if I needed a different formula and was told "our shampoos are organic so they won't suds like regular shampoo." Yeah, "organic" methinks is code for "has no cleaning properties and we've watered it down to extend the life of the jug we have in the back." I felt a little ripped off at this part as I'd gone to the trouble of getting pup there and lifting her and getting her wet and going through the whole ordeal only to feel like I wasn't really getting her clean. This is my biggest complaint about the facility and my entire first experience. 4. The only other issues I had concerned the water volumn and temperature. When I checked in, I was told you don't have to regulate the temp, but when I turned it on, it was hot as blue blazes so I did have to temper with cold and adjust the settings. There's a sprayer that is not unlike what you might have at your kitchen sink. It has the button on top that you click to either get a stream or a spray. Neither are very forceful and I would prefer a little stronger spray to knock dirt out from paw pads and gunk off the coat since the "shampoo" is not going to address that. Now the GOOD stuff! 1. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and helpful. 2. No appointment necessary. You just walk in. 3. The tubs are raised so you're not killing your back during the bath. 4. They give you an apron which does a great job of keeping you dry-ish and is even "shake" resistant. 5. $12 bucks was well worth skipping chasing my pup around my tub, having a load of wet, dirty towels to deal with, having to clean and wipe down not just the shower but the entire bathroom, and, this is TMI, but I usually just pull my pup in with me so I got to skip the indignation of giving my pup a bath in the nude. It's no picnic for either of us. read more

I had a bad experience during my first visit. The grooming job was okay. The customer service was terrible. The lady at the front desk told me my dog was a problem because she barked too much, and that "normally when you tell a dog to shut up, they do". Umm....excuse me, she's a dog...she barks. They were very unfriendly and uncaring with me and my dog. It makes me wonder how they treat the animals behind closed doors if they're that uncaring in front of their owners. I will not be back. I prefer knowing that my dog is being treated kindly when I place her into someone's care. Ps* the response from wash paw below is simply untrue. Know that if you choose to deal with this business, there have been multiple complaints about their customer service (see other reviews). The only positive reviews are about their self-service wash which involves access to a tub and a hand held shower. read more

I wouldn't give this place 1 star. My dog had an appointment booked 3/12/16 at 9:00 a.m. I have a business card with date and time confirmed by management. When we got there, there was a note on the door saying "be back at 10:00". This appointment was made by the manager begging us to come back and asking us to give Washpaw another chance (after a third terrible experience with their groomers). And they were closed at our appointment time?!?! I called later that day and spoke with the Hispanic women (I don't remember name) who said management was out of town and she would have a manager call me the following Wednesday -I never got a call. This is also the same lady I requested to groom my dog but she said she couldn't because she would be out of town (for our last appointment). When I took my dog for that specific appointment in January, the lady was there! WTH? Being that she wasn't going to be grooming my dog, I gave specific instruction on how to groom the type of breed my dog is. Not a single thing was done correctly. This is my second disgusted yelp on this business. Management called and asked me to take my first review down as they tried to redeem my business. This place is an absolute fail. According to WP, nothing is their fault. After giving them a year of chances, I will not be taking my dog back to Washpaw. I'll drive over an hour to go back to our other groomer of 10+ years with zero issues. Save your feedback mgmt. I'm not listening to your excuses anymore. read more
