Overall, it seems pretty nice, but on my initial visit (set-up) I didn't stay too long. They have two separate machines and free weight areas, two areas where you can use treadmills or ellipticals, and then the walking track that the woman who showed me around said 16 laps equal a mile. The pool is closed on Tuesday until 9:00 AM and so I stuck to working out on machines for this visit. There wasn't a lot of people there so that is a good thing to me, nothing worse for a gym than an overcrowded gym.

A nice young woman gave me a tour of the facilities and I was able to sign up for a low monthly fee. I couldn't believe what was included; Two huge lap pools, workout equipment, classes I can choose from, spin classes, and a walking track, sauna and a Jacuzzi. The jacuzzi is down at the moment but they are working on it. The locker room and bathrooms were so clean, I was very impressed. I dove in and did my first 14 laps and it felt so good. The whole fitness area was very clean. Can't wait for the next visit.

There is a kiddie pool. During the week, the pool area is quite empty. It can get really busy over the weekends if the weather is wonderful. The tennis courts have just been refurbished. You must be a member at Pinetop Neighborhood Resort to utilize this facility. I met many new friends here. There is enough parking in the lot. I'll be back next year.

There are 2 seating benches in the pool - really good feature to stay cool while still reading your book. The only downside is the pool isn't that big. You can't really use it for swimming. And if there are a lot of kids in the pool, its hard to avoid getting splashed. There's ample seating, plenty of tables and umbrellas throughout the dry deck. The dry deck and the bathrooms are always clean!

The facility has got only better since it's opening in 2014. My review is strictly for the venue. The location is in the complex with the convention center and ACC Hall of Fame. Surface parking seems plentiful and in tip top condition. What is very cool about the aquatic complex is the fact the city of Greensboro fully supports with tax dollars. They were smart and it's paid off on bringing major competitions of USA Swimming and NCAA. They also routinely hold USA Club meets on weekends. The competition pool is a 50 meter Olympic size with platform diving and well. Pool temps were correct. Air temps comfortable. The main building also has a 25 yard warm up/cool down pool, or can be used for training and lessons. The spectator area is vast and has wonderful views from all seating. GAC has a fabulous digital scoreboard. The facility is immaculately kept. A drawback is lighting over the competition pool which creates glare. A neat fact is that speakers are under water for swimmers to listen to music. A few enhancements from the original design. A back wall was pushed out allowing more room for staging athletes. Also an air evacuation system at a cost of over a million was placed on the turn end to clear harmful chloramines. The air quality is very good. A second building was added and recently opened adjacent to the main facility. It offers two 25 yard fitness pools connected by bulkhead. The led lighting makes it feel like day. It's a very nice complex and addition to an already incredible venue. Greensboro Aquatic Center or GAC will continue to be a major player in holding elite swimming competitions.

The lifeguards are given frequent breaks and rotated to ensure diligence. Bathrooms are clean and the cafe has basic grill fare along with several healthy options. Very nice.
