I've been here twice for standard mammogram screening. They are outstanding with sending reminders when your next appointment is due and really good about notifying you the week prior and a few days prior to remind you that the scheduled appointment is coming up so you don't forget. Once you enter and check in, they tell you to have a seat and fill out paperwork. They call you, introduce themselves and tell you where to go and change. When it's time to enter the scanning room, it's sorta erie. To be honest - the process is slightly uncomfortable, but I try to focus on good thoughts and and maintain proper perspective. The scanning takes about 10 minutes. Typically, you tell them who your Primary Doctor or Obgyn is and they send the results to them. Then you're supposed to check back with your primary care or obgyn doctor to discuss the test results. I never do that step because I forget. They will mail the results directly to you within 1 month of the appointment so you can get results that way as well. Service at the check-in counter is sort of chaotic or hit or miss. - 2 stars In my personal opinion, I felt as though the overall attitude of professionalism has a lot of room for improvement. I got the sense some of the ladies were either not quite awake, bored, or lacking enthusiasm in their job and did not want to be be there. Not super welcoming. I felt like a number because they lacked warmth and hospitality. Smiles go a very long way during a medical appointment that causes many people anxiety. Nevertheless, stay on top of those mammograms! Encourage a friend to stay on top of theirs! Go with a friend or relative if they're sorta anxious about going by themselves. Schedule an appointment the same week or day with a friend to keep each other accountable. Once you get into the routine, it's completely doable. read more

I went to Washington Radiology in Fairfax for a mammogram and was waiting patiently in the gown when Washington Radiology said that due to a typo, I'm missing a zero before my record number, all my 33 year history of coming there for a mammogram were "unavailable". They couldn't give me my mammogram until they recovered it and they had no ETA on when that would be. I told them that it was almost 3 hours getting here and it's going be far worse getting home due to 4th of July beach traffic. This was the last time I will ever come here for a mammogram. Incredible incompetency. As I was walking out the door, the IT guy sent to recover my record arrived. . I got a CD from Washington Radiology of my 33 years of medical history with them. I hope the CD isn't blank. They were once reliable and offered good care. So many places to get a mammogram today. So many places to choose from. No more Washington Radiology. read more

Fraud Fraud Fraud !!!!!! Stay away from Washington Radiology. I had a viability pregnancy ultrasound there last year, and they submitted two claims to my insurance for the same service. As a result, my insurance covered one claim but denied the other. I informed Washington Radiology about this error, yet instead of fixing it, they sent the unpaid bill to a debt collector--even though it was their mistake. When I contacted their customer care, they told me they billed once for a "sonogram" and once for an "ultrasound." How ridiculous is that? read more

I am not sure what is going on with their office but it's very disappointing when you are told by your doctor you are a high risk cancer patient and you need a breast MRI. I had an 8am DEXA appt. at the Fairfax office today. After receiving 4 confirmation emails, with the last 2 requiring my confirmed response, I drove in icy conditions to arrive at 7:45. 10 minutes later, I asked the desk employee named Joyce if I needed to fill out paperwork for the DEXA. Her response, verbatim: "We don't do DEXAs in the morning." Wait...is it my fault when WR confirmed the appt 4 times, including just yesterday? Her excuses were: 1. It's the systemwide scheduling system's fault, 2. The tech is out on medical leave, 3. The desk manager wasn't working yesterday. Does any of that explain why, before I left my house at 7am to navigate the bad roads, nobody at the Fairfax office called to tell me they had no intention of doing the scan today when the appt was made over 5 months ago? How about a side of rudeness with sheer incompetence? It's infuriating. Never again. read more

I came for a f/u mammogram after the first was inconclusive. I was feeling anxious but had a really good experience. Front desk was efficient and friendly, I was called back quickly, technician was very nice and explained things well. Then I saw Dr. Johnson for an ultrasound which led to a fine needle aspiration. These were added on extremely quickly and smoothly- I was shocked that I didn't have to wait longer. Dr. Johnson was very friendly and communicative, as well as gentle with the procedure. Luckily, just a cyst for me this time. I asked to have the fluid sent off to be extra sure that's all it was, and Dr. Johnson called me personally to give me the results. I am very impressed! It was worth the drive from Arlington to Fairfax. read more

I called and verified that your company was within my preferred provider network and I was assured over the phone that you were, so I scheduled my simple ultrasound appointment. (MY first mistake as there are numerous radiology groups with similar sounding names.) I received the bill many months later to discover you were in fact NOT in network. To add insult to injury, your provider added on an additional diagnostic test to the ultrasound that was not included in my doctors order, and surprisingly requires prior authorization from my insurnace company, so not covered at all. I have called every month since receiving this bill, and keep getting told I will receive a call back. Nothing. I just continue to get the same bill, month after month. I'm on month 7 of calling to speak with someone and nothing gets done. Called again today and while the rep was polite, they were unable to do anything other than the standard "someone will call you back" so I guess I just keep doing this until the end of time. I do not understand how your radiologist is allowed to order additional tests without even checking with my own doctor first, and then ordering something that my insurance company won't even cover as routine. And the tech was rude, seemed rushed, and overall unpleasant considering the type of study I was having done. Made me 100% uncomfortable and that is something I wish on no one having to have any sort of semi-invasise study done. read more

Why should I be billed for an ultrasound that was incomplete and needed to be repeated at a different imaging location that was actually competent? I had an ultrasound 2/9/24, they called me shortly after I left because they knew they were missing parts, I returned. They were STILL missing important views and my doctor sent me to get it repeated. I went to Fairfax Inova to get it completed. Why am I now getting a bill in November? Additionally they billed my Secondary Insurance first instead of Medicare first then they sent the Medicare claim to an incorrect address. After nearly one year, it is finally corrected. This company has a monopoly in the DC area for mammograms and so doesn't try to make it anything more than a miserable experience. Sibley is so much better but it's so hard to get an appointment there. I came here last year for a diagnostic mammogram and walked in to a front desk informing me that the wait was 2.5 hours! I left and had it done at the K Street location when I could get an appointment months later. I tried again in 2024 and walked in to be told that they were running "30-40 behind." That turned out to be over an hour. The facilities are dark and run down and depressing. The staff is likely over worked but just make the mammogram painful. read more

I have been going to this radiology clinic for many years, through 2 babies being born and now 3 mammograms. I will not be returning after my experience today. I arrive at 2:05 for my 2:15 appointment. All of the calls, text and emails said to arrive 15 minutes before the appointment. There were 2 ladies working the desk helping 2 women and the waiting room had at least 10 women waiting. I put my name down and waited about 10-15 minutes to be called for paperwork. After the paperwork I continued to wait for over 1 hour before approaching the front desk after another lady complained about waiting 30 minutes. The front desk lady said they were short staffed and should be getting to me after 1 person. 2 more people were called back and not me. I got up after the 2nd person who arrived after me and was told I was next up. In all, I arrived at 2:05pm and wasn't taken back until 3:30! The actual mammogram was quick and fast which was nice. Washington Radiology does not respect your time and should be more forthcoming if they expect a long wait. Next year, I will be going to a different radiology clinic after this experience. read more

I took my mother here for her annual routine mammogram and ultrasound. She is 90. Three months later she is still talking about how impressed she was with this place and how her imaging didn't hurt like it normally does at the hospital she goes to in NY. At 90, she's had a LOT of mammograms, so she knows of what she speaks. In addition, the radiologist came in to speak with her after her mammogram to ask why she needed an ultrasound. The radiologist said that since she had no history, no family history and no diagnosis there was no reason to get an ultrasound (other than the fact that insurance pays for it). We went ahead with the test since it was booked and she was prepared, but we will follow up with her new gynecologist to find out if this continues to be necessary. read more

I've been to this location two times and every time it has been a complete mess. The first time the two ladies at the desk were entirely unprofessional, going back-and-forth about being overworked and this and that are not their job. I sat in the waiting room for an hour. Checking in and checking out no one lever bothered to enter my email address, so I never receive reminders or preregistration. I finally fix this on this last visit, even though I give it to them every time. This visit I was turned away after waiting for 20 minutes because they said said I needed a new doctor referral when they were the ones that told me I needed to come back in originally. They told me that I should've reached out to my doctor to request the second referral - which was not communicated to me. My doctor never received the results so it's hard to tell who's to blame on that one so I showed up and wasted an hour of my day waiting for them and then they said that I couldn't get serviced because I didn't have the proper documentation. I guess I'll just wait another month to see if I have cancer. No big deal. I read more

So it seems Washington Radiology sold out to a big conglomerate in TX. With this change comes a NO-CARE for the business or its patients. There's NO WAY to contact the Billing dept. There's NO WAY to get itemized statements or other stuff needed for share orgs for self-pay people. While the people at Washington Radiology are kind or not, helpful or not, it's the bigger picture that ensures we can never use them again. I also know that patients are being charged for things they didn't do and can not resolve these issues due to the lack of customer service or any service in the billing dept. While I was forced to just enter names into the company directory from one of the numbers I could find, the kind people I was able to talk to could only provide other phone numbers, to no avail. This is very sad, but you may want to choose to go somewhere else and make sure it's a cohesive medical system, which I believe no longer exists with the exception of the VERY RARE independent doctor who hasn't sold his/her soul to the "system". read more

I needed a general x-ray and called to schedule an appointment. They told me they don't do appointment, only walk in. After speaking to the phone agent they told me that they walk in's are fairly quick. I ended up waiting 1.5 hours to get seen. Once I was seen I was they took some X-rays and sent me on my way before calling me telling me they forgot to take some X-rays. I had to drive back to finding. Ended up spending a little over 2 hours. The staff didn't communicate any delays. read more

The waiting room is extremely warm and takes a long time to be seen, wait is consistently 45 minutes behind schedule. I felt the tech was not confident during my mammography and sure enough I had inconclusive results and they called me to schedule a retake. I drove 40 minutes to get to the appt for them to tell me that even though this is a retake I still need a dr order. I asked why they didn't tell me since they called me. "We tried calling you at 4:30 last night and couldn't reach you". Well I am sorry that is too late for me to get an order for an appointment the next morning. No apology was expressed. December 2022 - COVID Review: 2-3 stars for the ultrasound front desk staff, 5 stars for the ultrasound techs and doctors (suite 200) I had an order from my OB to go to an outside facility to get my level 2 / second trimester anatomy ultrasound done. Most places in the area were completely booked out for weeks or even into the new year, so I was grateful that Washington Radiology had availability so soon since I needed the results before my next prenatal visit. I had to come twice since they weren't able to see everything during my first visit - which was mainly since my baby wouldn't change positions the whole time despite all the tricks that we tried while I was there. I believe one of the front desk ladies might be new so I'll give her some grace, but seriously - it shouldn't be that difficult to at least be a little more professional when dealing with patients. My first visit there, I overheard that she checked me in as another patient that hadn't even arrived yet. Instead of calling me back up to the desk from my seat by my name, she tried to get my attention by doing a "come here" wave with her hand. During my second visit, which was only a week later, she was still treating me the same way again and even made me fill out new patient paperwork, which I said I already did a week prior. Her response was "I thought you looked familiar" and still made me do them regardless. However, our ultrasound tech both times was Sima and she was wonderful. She was super patient and kind since she knew this was our first baby and made sure to get some cute photos for us. The doctor that came to see us on the second visit (I believe was Dr. Jennifer? Pregnancy brain has made me forgetful now) was also very personable. read more

I had a 2:15 appt today at the Fairfax location. I arrived at 2:00 as per their request. I was not called to go to the changing area until close to 3:00. Once I was called back, I waited for another 15 minutes, without being seen. I left the changing room to make sure I had not been forgotten about - and was told that I was next. When I still hadn't been seen for another 15 minutes, I got dressed and let the staff know that I wanted to cancel my appointment and did not want to be charged. I found this situation to be inconsiderate of my time - if I was 1 1/2 hours late for an appointment I would have been charged! I will not be coming back. read more

While the radiologists and techs are great, the front desk staff are poorly trained with zero bedside manner. They tried to send me home for a follow up mammogram I had waited 3 weeks for because they had requested a doctors order from the wrong doctor and failed to call me to tell me they didn't have the order they needed for the test. When I showed up early Monday morning for my 7:45M appt the girl (she was not mature enough to be called a woman) told me they might not see me because they had to wait to call my doctors office when it opened at 8am and they only had a 15 min grace period, even though I was early and this was not my fault. She never apologized for the inconvenience or took any responsibility just looked at me like she thought I was a Karen when I insisted on speaking to her similarly incompetent supervisor who also treated me the same way. They took no ownership of their mistake at the front desk and showed barely any humanity and poor communication skills. However, once I was taken back, the tech and radiologist could not have been more gracious and understanding and empathetic. Washington radiology needs to train ALL of their staff that they are dealing with human beings, not merchandise. I am a nurse practitioner and would never let my office staff get away with treating patients like this. read more

I have been going here for over 15 years without any issue. This year a different story. First appointment I waited 1.5 hours only to find out they were backed up and couldn't tell me when I would be seen. Things happen so I leave and return 2 weeks later for my new appointment and also waited one hour after my appointment to get seen. The mammo went fine, caring staff. However the last straw is it has been 4 weeks and I do not have my results. I called and was told they would send "again" but has not come. I did not want to change due to the length of records here but I will be moving on. Not sure how to get my results at this point! read more

I have been using Washington Radiology for my mammograms for over 20 years. They used to be very prompt and never kept my waiting for very long. This is no longer the case. I had a 10am appointment. When I arrived the waiting room was packed and was told there was about a 45 min wait. Wow. After signing I I sat in the waiting room for at least 20 min before I even given the initial paperwork for my visit. I then sat for over an hour before being called into the dressing area where I waited an additional hour before finally having my exam. This is absolutely unacceptable!! I saw multiple patients who came in after having their exams done before me. I was told they are behind on "screening exams". If they don't have the staff, DO NOT schedule so many exams. I am beyond angry and disappointed at the service this office has provided. You may have quotas but patient care comes first read more

If you are a current patient or employee, leave asap! FRC is right around the corner and it's so much better! I worked here for a very long time and the place has declined with an intensity that is baffling! Upper management is useless and evil and it trickles down to the center management and staff. Everyone is burnt out and treated like trash! There are no incentives to stay or join the practice! If you are looking to work at any Washington Radiology, RUN away! I've never worked at such a horrible place! It's very sad in comparison with how it was when it was owned by the physicians. I want to be clear that my review and criticism is specific to front desk staff on the first floor for MRI. I have been to this location multiple times for mammograms over the years and always had a pleasant experience. However, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and chose this location for my MRI. I came in and was hit with immediate attitude. They were slow to speak and then told me to sit and just wait. One particular receptionist was irritated by my standing there for instructions, ie paperwork. I sit down and 3-5min later they call me up to give me the clip board. I fill it out and return it and more attitude as she instructs me to sit down. The technician called me back and he was great. He explained everything and made a real effort to make me feel comfortable which I appreciated. He finished the MRI and told me to go outside and they'd have my CD. I come out and I'm instantly handed my CD by the friendlier one of the staff. I brushed off the experience and moved on. I chalked it up to sometimes you meet someone that you just instantly dislike. This was clearly the case between me and this receptionist but no big deal. I'll never see her again. So what. A few hours later, I hear from Wash Radiology that I need to come back in because they did not use enough contrast. My surgery has already been scheduled and I'm out of town next week. I have a packed schedule, but I agree to the only time they had the next day. I arrive the next day and the friendlier receptionist greets me by name. She is more junior. The other receptionist doesn't speak and tells the other woman what form to give to me. I fill it out. I walk back up to the desk looking for someone to look at me and take it. It took a pregnant pause to even be acknowledged. The friendlier receptionist takes the form. I sit down again and wait. Note: The technician, different from the day before, did a great job. Super accommodating. She apologized and we were off to the races. No issues. Despite the error on the contrast amount, the technicians were very professional and polite. Mistakes happen and I was ok until I went back out to reception. Unlike the day before, the CD wasn't ready. The rude receptionist says we're printing it. You can have a seat--oozing with attitude again. I sit. I wait and I wait. I am a little anxious because I have an important appointment to get to. I looked up and started to ask when...I didn't even finish the sentence and she volunteers...Do you need to go? I said I have an appointment soon...she interrupts and says well you don't have to get the CD. It's optional. You don't have to have it--more attitude. Then she says your doctor will only get the report and not the images but it's up to you. I said I need the images for other doctors. She said, "We are PRINTING it!" And stared at me...the stare that provokes violence. I'm not a rude or violent person. I am an extremely calm person. It takes a lot to offend me or get me angry. However, after two days of this woman's attitude, I contemplated walking up to the counter and getting in her face and let the best woman win. Thankfully just as I was getting up the other receptionist handed me the images and I left. I never write negative reviews. People have bad days...it's not that deep. Customer service is hard, etc. However, I was so irritated with this woman that I called my oncologist and told him that I NEVER wanted to go to that location again for a MRI. This receptionist was so rude, so condescending and supremely unprofessional. There was zero consideration that they had made the mistake and I was taking time out of my day again because of their mistake. I also thought if this was my business--I've run businesses--I would NOT want this woman to be my frontline to patients or customers. I'd want to know if someone I paid acted this way. The people walking through those doors are dealing with serious issues--you know like cancer and being greeted by someone who is this rude, this unprofessional and clearly oblivious to the soft skills necessary for the job shouldn't have this position. I will NEVER go to the MRI at this location again because of the front desk. Please note I liked the technicians and the front desk staff upstairs but I'd stay away from the first floor. read more

I had a really great experience. It was a follow-up to something they found on the first mammogram. They did a sonogram and saw a cyst. They were able to aspirate the fluid out and I barely felt a poke. Everyone was friendly and made the experience easy. read more

I've been getting my mammograms from Washington Radiology for years and all has been fine. However, when I needed to have an MRI at the Fairfax office because of a breast cancer diagnosis everything went to hell. First, I wasn't able to get an appointment for several weeks. That was annoying, but I understood-MRIs are limited and I know there are always busy. However, they called me several days before my MRI to tell me their technician had quit and needed to reschedule me and offered me a new date several more weeks out. Not acceptable! To make a long story short, they finally "found " a technician that could do it the same day as originally scheduled, with a minor change in time. Good! Then the day of, as I was walking out the door for the appointment they called again and canceled saying "the MRI machine was broken." And they offered me the same reschedule date they had offered me previously! What was clear through all of this was that they don't have contingency plans for when things go wrong--e.g. working late or weekends to catch up on patients that they've cancelled on, and having floaters to pick up the slack when someone quits or is sick, or triaging patients to understand how urgent the imaging is. They clearly have no understanding how frightening and nerve wracking it is to go through the process of getting a Brest cancer diagnosis. Until they work the above out, DO NOT go ro WRA's Fairfax office for breast MRI imaging services. read more

I had a biopsy yesterday that I have been very worried about......I will not have the results until next week, but wanted to say how wonderful Dr. Sung, Mary, Dawn, and Stacy were. Mary explained what the procedure would be like and called me today to make sure I was doing OK! Dawn and Stacy were so caring and compassionate and FUN! I was having such a good time with them that all my worries dissipated! They are amazing! Dr. Sung patiently described what was going to happen each step of the way as he performed the procedure and that was really helpful. I would give zero stars if it were an option. I went to an appointment at your clinic in Sterling and was treated with very little sensitivity, understanding, or respect. The full details are in this message but in case you just want a summary: I am 23. It is unusual for me to need a breast exam. By my doctor's orders, I got an appointment and got a breast ultrasound - which I, obviously, have never done before. All of the doctors, nurses, and receptionists I spoke to treated me as if I was a child who was dumb for even making an appointment. Believe it or not, missing work to come to a breast exam wasn't my idea of a fun afternoon either. I was following my doctor's recommendation and seeking help from professionals who know more than I do. I am a paying customer that deserves more respect than what I was given. I did not feel comfortable in this environment, especially considering that the doctor was dealing with a very private area of my body. Full details: I got a routine physical from my primary care doctor, I expressed some concern with breast pain and lumps I had felt that I was unsure about. She said she understood my concerns, gave me an exam herself, and said she thought it was nothing but wanted to be sure. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist asked me my age and told me it is not typical for a 23 year old to be scheduling an ultrasound. She spoke to me like I was dumb for scheduling this appointment for the entire phone call. I took off work to come to this appointment. When I spoke to the receptionist, she asked me my age multiple times and, again, treated me like I shouldn't be there. She had my doctor's imaging order but made me go get my physical copy out of the car. The nurse, after asking me a bunch of questions, brought me back to the private room and told me that the doctor, who hadn't even spoken to me, wasn't concerned and that I should go home without being checked out. I said I still wanted to be checked out because I took the effort to come to the appointment. The doctor had terrible bedside manner. I was told to take one arm out of my gown, so I did. When she walked in, she asked me why I didn't take both arms out if she was supposed to examine both breasts. I told her I did was I was told to do and she said, "well that is silly and just doesn't make sense" like I should know how to do this. She then made it VERY clear to me that a 23 year old should not need this exam. I assume she picked up on the fact that I was not happy because then she started cracking jokes about how "unexciting" and "uninteresting" my breasts are. Before she left she said, "make sure to take a picture of how to do a breast exam because then we won't have to see you until you're 40". I do not appreciate being treated like a child for listening to my doctor's recommendation. I understand that my situation was unusual but as a paying customer, I still deserve respect in my treatment. I pay the doctors because they have knowledge I do not. I go by their recommendations because they know better than I do. My breasts are the only ones I have ever felt; how am I supposed to know what is not normal? That's what doctors are for. I was following instructions and did not deserve the attitude and inconsiderate treatment I received. read more
