I have never had headaches in my life (except when I am sick). This past week, I had a dull headache that kept me reaching for the meds, which is extremely out of the ordinary. I did not have a fever, no GI symptoms, and no respiratory problems. All I can remember eating the day before was a really expensive yet tasty sushi dinner and lots of sake. At this point, I'm worried I have a brain tumor, or that worms from the expensive sushi have nested in my central nervous system. Needless to say, I called Washington Neurology (since Dr. Lee is a friend of mine). After hearing my symptoms, Dr. Lee told me I most likely have viral meningitis. Viral meningitis?!? What the hell? That does not sound good. Great news is that he said my symptoms should subside in the next few days. Bam! Within 2 days, my headache got better on its own. Dr. Lee saved me unnecessary worry about tumors and worms, and I didn't have to do a thing except sit on my couch, pop meds, stay off the alcohol, and catch up on QT. Dr Lee has a great sense of humor and is easy to talk to. He explained everything with pictures on his TV board (I don't know what it's called) that allows him to draw on pictures of the brain or heart to point out your specific issues. read more
