My family recently took up pickleball and GR Herberger currently has four pickleball courts. The park also has two tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, some picnic tables and benches, a private parking lot, public bathrooms, a grassy area, and easy access to the Arizona Falls and the aforementioned canal. So, I've been frequenting this park more often and I'm so grateful it exists! Note: If you do intend to play pickleball, there are some rules for rotating it in to keep it fair for everyone... If you're seeking more of a playground park for kids to play, Arcadia Park is a super quick walk across Indian School as well.

We've tried a lot of different sports in her short little life and this is easily our favorite one, in large part to the awesome experience! The current spring sessions are twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm. I was surprised that they were an hour long because most activities for this age range tend to be shorter. But the benefit of a full hour is the amount of actual practice and playing time the kids get + the amount of energy they exert! The racquet club itself is like a hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood. They offer a lot of different classes and the staff are friendly & down-to-earth. Our favorite part though are the coaches! Her main coach - coach Joe - is stellar! He has a great balance of being direct and fun! It's the first time I feel like my daughter has gotten real instruction in an activity like this which means she's actually learning and improving! It's also helped her build more confidence because she feels like she knows what's she doing and she gets feedback and help when she doesn't. We plan to attend the entire spring program as well as continue with tennis here for the foreseeable future!

Learning the sport was such a blast, and we couldn't stop laughing throughout the session. Our instructor, Darryl, was phenomenal--patient, encouraging, and a fantastic teacher for first-timers like us. At the end of the class, we got to play a game against other participants, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the experience. Everyone was a great sport, which made it even more enjoyable. We had such an amazing time that we're already looking into signing up for additional classes. If you're even a little curious about curling, this class is a must-try!
