We spent about 2 hours here going between the different levels the main level you walk in is the middle area and then there's an upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs there are some more animals and then big dinosaur fossils. There a small Egyptian exhibit which was a cool addition. Then on the bottom level it's an area where everything is touchable so the kids can really have some fun. There was area that they're redoing so that was off limits. There is an elevator so if you have some mobility limitations that is helpful. There are fans on all the levels because it doesn't get the best circulation. Overall a great place to spend a few hours out of the house for a fun learning experience.

There are a few indoor exhibits, but the majority are outside. Tours are self-guided, which is a plus because you can freely explore the grounds and village in the back. There are a few indoor exhibits that feature the vehicles used in the past for multiple purposes, and also a barn that includes memorabilia from old bars that our ancestors enjoyed in Kern County. Definitely a cool concept filled with lots of artifacts from the past. What a great day to enjoy a fun blast from the past!

The best introduction to a region is learning of its history. I stopped by as I told my Mom this is a highly-rated experience and gem of the community! Turns out, it is. Kern County Museum is an immersive outdoor experience set up as a community or town where you go from houses to buildings to barns, exploring what life was like when people lived in the olden days. We spotted a hotel, doctor's office, schools, courthouse, and so many more buildings. All the structures are well-maintained and have descriptions in front of them. You're even allowed to go in some of the buildings! My favorite was a the spooky Mason Lodge! We spent a while enjoying the stories and significance of these locations which led to the development of a well-known Central California city! Kern County Museum even has a research center, mini art gallery, and children's discovery center. The facilities are clean and well-kept. There's an indoor section to the museum with background on Native American and war-time culture in Kern. My Mom and I came during a week day, we saw several parents bring their children to explore the museum. There's plenty of parking and room to move around. As an educator, i highly recommend checking this out! It's also perfect for field trips!

Lots of grass for soccer or other grass sports and basketball courts also. The bathrooms are well maintained. There is a covered BBQ area with picnic tables. A play ground with slides, rock climbing and swings for the bigger kids and a smaller area for the little ones. The playground area has wood chips instead of sand. So no messy shoes and socks. One side has a cool skate park & small swimming pool and the other end has a good open field for football/soccer. Both side have a playground, bathrooms (not so clean) and private renting areas. They don't have clean water fountains here so bring your own water. The basketball court could use some help (I mean a lot of help) They do have a stage so if you want to perform for a party at the park then I recommend this park. The high is located across the street. During the last weekend of July they host Philippine Weekend (Filipino festival) here and I always have a blast at it.

It reminds me of a time when I was younger and also performed these cultural dances. Although this place brings so much memories of my childhood, Cecil Park is still the same... restrooms are never ever cleaned and I say this because for as long as I can remember, I really don't think the city pushes for that. This is probably the most active park in Delano; however, I don't feel it's up kept as much as it should be. The lawn gets mowed and the trees get trimmed, but everyone that has kids knows that the toilets are never cleaned (since these kids are always having to use the restrooms). This park is located across the street from my HS (Delano High School) and has two parts to it. One side has a stage where the festivities are held at and the other side has a good size skate park and a kiddie pool. I honestly can't remember when Delano has put water in that kiddie pool, all I can remember is getting in this pool when I was in Kindergarten for a field trip. The skate park is definitely a plus, it keeps the kids busy and keeps them from doing things they shouldn't be doing. There's a basketball court, a playground for kids and plenty of room for other activities. Both parks are pretty big in size and has room to fit multiple parties, multiple gatherings, and other functions. There's plenty of shade and plenty of places to picnic at and there's several benches to rest at as well.

There is a large play structure with a variety of activities intended for children ages 5-12. There are two sets of swings, one intended for toddlers and one for older kids. There is bark under the structure and swings to provide a soft landing in case of a fall. There are three picnic tables spread around the bark area, each with its own grill (don't forget to bring the charcoal). There are benches well situated to provide a place for parents to relax and watch their chores play. There is even a working water fountain next to the bench on the West side so you can help your children keep hydrated. The only thing missing is a public restroom.

The evening unfolded beautifully with a delicious dinner catered by Bord A Petite, an open bar flowing with ease, and a thoughtfully curated silent auction featuring artwork selected by curator of exhibitions and collections Victor Gonzales alongside executive director and chief curator Gilbert Vicario. And the décor? Absolutely dreamy. Thousands of balloons were transformed into whimsical sea creatures all floating jellyfish and playful octopuses that created an enchanting, underwater fantasy throughout the space. I don't mind coming here in the morning or afternoon. I just don't like coming at night. The park is way too dark. They have light, but they are way to dim. They need to change the light bulbs or clean them. It hardly lights up the park. When you walk on the sidewalk it is almost pitch black. I love walking at night, but I honestly hate that the park is so dark. Also, I don't look to judge a book by it's cover but it's very hard not to with certain people. I have come a few times and I see the same "homeless" people at the same spot. I feel so uncomfortable going to certain parts of the park because they keep staring at you. Not sure if they just stare or really want to make you feel uncomfortable. I also see a lot of certain adults smoking and acting crazy at the benches. I try to avoid them as well. Others are digging threw the trash and some are just walking around looking crazy. I'm sorry if I seem harsh, but I'm just trying to be honest. My husband has told me that a lot of them come to do drugs. I don't know, but like I said they do look weird. Now, for the positive. I love that I saw a water/spray section. The water wasn't on, but I think that during the summer they turn them on. I wanted to let my son play there but there are two people always sitting near that section. If I let my son play there I think he will go and bug them so I rather not have him play there. Right now, the play area is closed. Bummer. Great news though. It is closed because they are remodeling it! Yay! Now this I do love. It started to look so nice. They put a huge slide that I know kids will love. They are putting so much playground equipment and it is making the park look much better. They put up a sign that states they play area will open in mid October.
