My best recollection is that I last stopped in here in 2007 or 2008. Last night, my peepers we're sending a message that I wasn't going to make it to my intended truck stop as planned. When the eyes say 'shut down', I had better listen. Normally, I would park at the local T/A truck stop, but at 0300 in the morning, that place had been parked up for hours already. So here I am, in the AM. Initially, I simply bounced my way around the back parking lot and found a suitable place to park and take a nap. The parking lot was pretty rough 12 years ago - it hasn't gotten any better since then. Upon waking to the sound of a street sweeper this morning, I looked out to see where I was. Sure enough, he dropped his brushes and was probably adusting their height before starting his day. They did their job well, and then he was gone. Eventually, I made my way inside the building. I recognized it from previous years. It had been cleaned up a bit, renovated somewhat, and brightened by much newer lighting. Still, it's got a long way to go. The store offers many of the conveniences of typical gas stations these days. Snacks and fast food, all sorts of sugary drinks and sodas, beer and wine. Trucker related items are also there, at truck stop prices. They have a 'hot food bar' that was attended by a very attractive lady this morning. I picked up a couple breakfast items (all wrapped in foil) and walked over to the spacious dining area. A guy was there, apparently leaching WiFi at a booth. They had a national channel on the TV, and otherwise, I sat in solice to partake of nourishment. The food was a bit bland, and I failed to procure any condiments to help the cause. While eating, I looked around and noticed the old-style glass-covered eating area that was all-the-rage 40 years ago. Those dining rooms often became overheated during periods of sun, so this establishment painted the windows a light brown to knock down the temperatures. This business was neglected for many years. I see improvements, but there is evidence of the neglect everywhere. Let's hope they can continue to work at 'making a go of it'.

It boils down a simple phrase: When you gotta poo, the BP in Bridgman is the place for you. I had enjoyed a Portillo's beef sandwich (dipped in sauce, with cheese) not 24 hours before chance led me to drive through Bridgman, so you can imagine the vulnerability and anxiety I felt as I exited the car and prairie-dogged my way towards the restroom. When I arrived, I felt at peace and did my business with ease and comfort. Jane D., from Chicago: I'm sorry for your ankle incident, I really am. I stubbed my toe on my doorframe this morning and you bet, emotions poured out in the form of expletives. I cursed privately, and got on with my day. But for you to blame my man, working at a gas station for not "having (the ground) repainted" is uncalled for. He went the extra mile despite a statewide minimum wage of $8.50, got you ice because you tripped on a handicap-accessible ramp, and you attack his kind soul. Do you think that other gas stations in western Michigan are better equipped to accommodate your clumsiness? Perhaps it's been a while since you've taken a roadtrip. The bathrooms here had granite countertops. Dyson Airblade hand dryers! Labatt Blue Light in stock. Please, for your own safety, slow down a bit. Next time you whine about a "safety code," you really ought to think about the humans working hard to ensure every other piece of your experience in Bridgman is flawless. To the worker whose honor was attacked, keep your head up man. On behalf of other level-headed reviewers and those whom you serve every day, we applaud your (reasonably) hard work and appreciate your exceptional accommodations.
