To have to walk through that kind of heartbreak twice in such a short period of time is something no family ever expects. Through it all, Lilly became so much more than a funeral director. She became a source of comfort, strength, guidance, and genuine love during the darkest moments of our lives. From the very first meeting, Lilly treated our family as if we were her own. She carried us through every step of the process with incredible kindness, compassion, patience, and grace. In the middle of overwhelming grief, she gave us peace of mind. What touched us most and something our family will never forget is that Lilly was actually on vacation during one of our funerals. Most people would have understandably stepped away, but not Lilly. She made sure she was there for us anyway. That speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. She didn't see us as just another family she was helping, she genuinely cared. Knowing that she chose to be there for us, despite being on her own personal time, meant more than words can express. It made us feel seen, supported, and deeply cared for during one of the hardest days of our lives. Lilly has a rare gift. She combines extraordinary professionalism with an even more extraordinary heart. She showed our loved ones the dignity and respect they deserved and showed our family endless compassion at a time when we could barely function. She cried with us, encouraged us, celebrated the lives of our loved ones with us, and somehow made an impossible process feel a little less heavy. By the end of these past few months, Lilly no longer felt like someone we met through tragedy she truly felt like part of our family. We will always remember her kindness, generosity, unwavering support, attention to detail, and the love she poured into helping us honor the people we lost. I was recently notified what they did to a family member, so I looked things over. I thought this place was great, UNTIL I realized they charged us for things not legal, not purchased, and not disclosed! I called the crematory, medical examiners in 2 different states, and the insurance company. They informed me of the REAL prices, the LAW, and how Dyer-Lake used our money to fund their own interests without disclosing it. It wasn't theirs to use! To this date, they have refunded 4 checks, admitting guilt, returning (dragging it out slowly) almost what they owed us, but not fully. They refuse to refund us for merchandise we never bought. They refuse to itemize the bill. They refuse to tell us what "basic professional services" cover, since we never had a "service", and so many other fees were charged on top of basic...things like transportation, storage, paperwork, drivers, removal of pacemaker, ect. They charged us for 2 medical examiners in 2 different states. One owner said it was the LAW because the person died in one state and was buried in another. The other owner said that was a mistake. BUT they did it twice! 16 months apart! Once, it "might" be a mistake, but twice is how they run their business until you catch them. I could describe each thing, but the checks are proof enough.. BE WARY and do your homework! A smile, a hug, and making you feel like and old friend means nothing when you find out the truth. Its disgusting and deceitful to do this. Its been SIX MONTHS and they still owe us for one more thing.
