My mother had a terrible experience with Dr Jason Ward. She consulted with him 2 weeks after dislocating her shoulder, when there was clearly something wrong with her expected recovery. The shoulder joint was relocated in the emergency department on the day of the injury but she completely lost the use of her arm and was still in pain through the day and night 2 weeks later. Dr Ward only looked at the emergency department report. He did not ask my mother anything about her level of activity or physical fitness prior to the injury. She was physically fit, played tennis, and very active for an 83 year old. She is also very mentally aware, having a PhD in Health Administration, numerous peer-reviewed publications, and recently speaking at a national conference. Dr Ward had no idea and no interest about my mother AS A PERSON. Dr Ward did not think it worth having any other tests done to ascertain the nature and extent of her injury that might explain her delayed recovery. He offered her no guidance on steps that she could or should take to manage her injury, the obvious first step being that she get more information about the nature and extent of her injury. Dr Ward essentially told my mother that she would need to learn to live with the pain and without the use of her arm. She left his office feeling that Dr Ward is one of those doctors who don't care about their patients. read more
