Today my disabled son texted me and told me that the lady at the candy shop he went into (Lynden…read moreChocolate Candy Shop) told him that he looked "Shady" and accused him of stealing from her, she then searched him, made him empty his pockets, found nothing, and proceeded to tell him to not come in her shop again. Once he told me this, I immediately left work to go and speak with her to attempt to clear the matter up.... She was incredibly rude from the beginning, she told me he looked "Shady" just as my son had said she said. I informed her that he was disabled, a TBI patient, but that had no effect on her whatsoever. She also told me that this was the second time he was in her store and didn't buy anything. I guess I didnt realize that looking around in a store was a crime..... The conversation was not pleasant to say the least. The level of disrespect in how she spoke to me from the beginning of our conversation was sickening. I was disgusted! The conversation ended with her telling me our conversation was over, and I agreeing with her, but also adding that the Editor of the local paper would be getting a letter from me about the entire incident. She then asked if I was threatening her and I responded that it was not a threat, but indeed a promise. I then said this conversation is now over and left. I am amazed that an owner of a business in a small town would treat people coming into their establishment this way, and once hearing the person is disabled and treating them in this manner makes it all the worse. I will be sure to write the paper about this. This IS still a small town, its amazing how fast news like this will spread, I intend to make everyone aware of her unprofessionalism!

One of my favorite places in Williston! The shop was cute and you were able to see them make the…read morecandies behind the counters. Wonderful chocolates and they were constantly making new varieties. However, i think the shop closed because when i wanted to go there again, the shop was empty with a for sale sign. That was a sad day and i regret not going more often.
