Priyanka Bins was my attorney, and she was amazing at handling my high-conflict custody case. I came to Walters Gilbreath, after having to let my first attorney go, as they did nothing in my case. The staff at Walters Gilbreath was not only encouraging and communicative, my attorney Priyanka Bins was quick to jump on board and learn every single detail of my case. Fighting for custody can be a nightmare to go through. I was navigating several hardships during the time of my custody battle, and Priyanka took the initiative to relate with me, reassure a plan of action, and represent me for over a year and a half. During Trial, Priyanka is quick and confident in her abilities in the courtroom. In mediation, she directed a strategic approach to try to reach a reasonable resolution. In the end I received the outcome I wanted. Priyanka Bins is an overall wonderful person and family lawyer. I am forever grateful for her and the staff at Walters Gilbreath. read more

Being a father in Texas dealing with family courts is dauntin, and my interactions with Jonathan Hassell and Brian Walters made things even more difficult. I made my decision based on Brian's enlightening podcast, but sadly, his demeanor in court did not match his knowledge. Given the seriousness of the matter, I was disappointed with Brian's lack of interest in my case, considering the amount of money I paid to retain him. I specifically requested a capable attorney and they stuck me with Jonathan Hassell, the worst at the firm. From his first phone call, Jonathan was rude. He thought he was Harvey Spector in an episode of Suits. This is not a TV show, it is real life and my divorce case is very important to me. It's not a joke. Jonathan came off extremely pretentious. His demeanor was often condescending, and I felt that his long conversations with the opposing counsel depleted my retainer rapidly. Additionally, there were instances where I felt that he made errors in understanding simple key details of my case, which further troubled me. What am I really paying for here? He made several very obvious mistakes as he was not detail-oriented, stating that I said something to my ex-wife through a message exchange. When I showed him that it was actually my ex-wife who said that to ME, instead of taking accountability, he shifts the topic. He spent over an hour lecturing me on the phone. He made me believe I actually said it so I was apologizing, but when I looked back at the messages, I didn't even DO what he said I did. I get that lawyers are humans and make mistakes, but this was so clearly obvious. It says my name and it says my ex-wife's name next to each message... how can he not know who said that? I attempted to express these concerns to Brian, but unfortunately, my requests for a change in paralegal were denied. In conclusion, if you're seeking legal representation that actually values you as a client, a human being, pays attention to detail, communicates effectively, and maintains a high standard of professionalism, look elsewhere. read more

I'm embarrassed to admit I paid over $20K to this firm to handle a simple modification (child support which is statutory and permission the live in the SAME city, but different county than the original order). During the process, prolonged by turn over at their firm, they allowed my ex to enter a new request, never in issue in the first place, which HE WAS GRANTED. Very disappointed. I could have had the same result pro se (without an attorney) and put a good amount down on a new car... read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS MONEY HUNGRY LAWYER!!! His actions border on malpractice and I has filed a complaint with the Texas Bar Association.  He made many false claims for communication, filed many expensive and unnecessary unfounded motions that artificially inflated his billing.  His discovery motions were non-existent. Legal representation is a delicate process that must be handled when client and counsel are in sync.  This was not the case.  He never performed his duty to cross examine during trial, he waived specific objections without client permission and during the process to transfer to another attorney, failed to provide necessary information for new counsel to sub in. His behavior was unprofessional and unforgivable. JUST THROW $50K DOWN THE TOILET IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT WORKING WITH THIS LAWYER IS LIKE! read more

I lost everything because of this firm. Those who left a positive review most likely did so to have their outrageous bill reduced. I refuse to let anyone else be misguided by false reviews. This law firm is nothing but a bunch of crooks. Jake spent more time focusing on other clients than the case we had going on. It always seems like my ex knew everything that we were doing ahead of time. He is not a fighter and barely showed up. I had one of his assistants work the case because he couldn't make it. The sad part is that he didn't brief the assistant, so I had to catch him up on what was going on. The divorce shouldn't have taken over a year and $18,000, especially since my ex and I signed mediation papers in October but didn't get documents till almost July the following year. Apparently, Jake didn't file the paperwork when he stated. They overcharged and charged for meetings that never took place between him and I. I had to fight every to have the billing corrected. Furthermore, we had a temporary order regarding child custody that was supposed to grant me the rights to have my kids from Thursday-Monday once the decree was final, but somehow Jake f'ed that up as well. Now he wants more money to go back to court, and now he is saying he doesn't handle child custody after he messed up my divorce. I lost everything because of this firm. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. If you want attorneys to represent the party that you hired them to fight against, then hire these jokers. They take your retainer money plus all the money you have and then call you names, throw out profanity and then try to make it look like you are the crazy people because they were not prepared at all. They never protect you as the client that hired them and paying their god awful retainers. Just not an honest company to hire at all. They throw all kinds of different people in the mix and confuse you why they are spending the retainer. They don't care at all about a child that can't defend themselves, only about how they can make it look. Very sad that my granddaughter was put into this situation that grownup people took money and put her into harms way because we were easy prey. Now the funny thing that has happened, ex DIL that has been so nasty got kicked out of her home with second husband that wants a divorce and took her nice car away. Wow!!!! Karma. But still in situation in court with grand daughter. read more

I really wanted to like this guy. When Brian took my case, I had spent the better part of a decade as a single dad and a physician. I've never been married, I've never broken a law (maybe some speeding tickets), my child has always enjoyed luxuries like international travel, summer camp, etc. After over a year, there is zero proof of neglect or abuse, the entire case is accusations, that's it. He lacked the ability to bring my daughter home. I watched this guy blow it with 2 judges. He came to court unprepared. His cross examination was embarrassingly sloppy. He didn't even give a closing argument. If you paid $500 an hour ($750 when he got his junior partner involved) and got crap results, would you complain? I did. Did he turn it around? Decide to care? Try to do his job? Nope. He just threw a tantrum and quit (see pic. The-thanks for making time for me - line is actually sarcastic). I've since hired a guy for half the price that has produced actual results. For Walters- I've literally never in my life spent so much money and gotten so little (actually nothing) in return. If I practiced medicine like this guy practiced law, people would die. So, ZERO stars. Update- I hired a lawyer for half the price of Brian Walters and he got my daughter home and also got me full custody. read more

Brian Walters at $650/hour is the worst possible attorney you could hire to pilfer your attorney trust account. DO NOT PUT ANY EXTRA IN THERE. NOT TRUSTWORTHY. RUN! DO NOT HIRE!! He told me that I had the right to choose my attorney, but he could do whatever he wanted. He is the most inefficient attorney snake out there. YOU HIRE HIM & GET NEWBY ATTYS GETTING NOTHING DONE & THE ABSOLUTE IRRESPONSIBLE FIDUCIARY EVER! He showed up to one of the two hearings that he scheduled, allowed the other attorney to write the court order for the judge to sign on the one hearing he did show up to. He's inefficient as he does not do most of the work on the five invoices charged to my account for two months that I used him as my first attorney. I hired him because his website said efficient and he passed my case off to two other attorneys; one first 20 mins that I met, Karina; I knew I did not want working on my case and told him directly. He did not accomplish anything in my child custody case except opening it with lots of typos a few friends and I spent hours on fixing. Give him $59,000, for your case; and, he'll happily charge you over $50K with newby attorney's, a secretary at over $100/hour organizing your papers, a medium attorney Robert he'll throw in with less than 24 hours, and come with absolutely nothing to help show the judge as evidence as the other side gets everything they want. Run like hell from this firm. Hiring anyone else is a very good idea. He knows nothing about mental health, so if that plays into your case, do not use Brian Walters firm. He'll block you from eventually speaking to anyone, fix nothing on your incorrect bills, and just be a total asshole in general to you and shame you for everything as nothing is ever Brian's fault even if he does everything you ask him not to do and and absolutely next to nothing you ask him to actually do, like this judge has a conflict of interest, here's the baby steps you need to do...he ignores, you get overcharged and eventually just get the judge dismissed yourself for violating your 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th amendment rights. Brian Walters is a pilfering thief charging over $50K for two months and no results when your budget is $59,000, he's the very worst fiduciary you could possibly entrust your money to. DO NOT HIRE ESPECIALLY IF A VETERAN LIKE ME. read more

I called for a family who was going through a divorce with custody issues. I called and spoke with Brian and Sherry during my consultation. They both displayed empathy towards the situation. I would highly recommend their services. read more

$6k+ later, we still didn't get the outcome we wanted. All of the contact was through emails. During the first hearing, everybody seemed unprepared. I most definitely was after not even receiving a proper brief from the attorney that was going to represent us. I was told it was a "prety straight forward case" when in fact it wasn't. I wasn't given a chance to cover all my bases and avoid a bad outcome since the case and technicalities weren't explained properly. Staff was also not prepared for the worse. A lot of false hope was given. When the case was lost, I received a call from the staff explaining to me why we lost. I was definitely upset and at a loss for words, but what really threw me off was the the attorney proceeded to say "its not that were using this terminology because were smarter than you, but we do this often". I had completly understood what had happened but I think that was SUPER unprofessional and unnecessary. At the end, when my feedback was asked for, I explained my concerns and was told I was going to hear back from someone. Weeks later, I have yet to hear from them. Now it seems like their address isn't even coming up on google maps. And I got an email stating I STILL owe them money....??? Trying to atleast have that explained now. read more

When I first met Brian Walters I really thought he was going to be a good and upstanding lawyer. But when he was actually working he showed his true colors. This is not a good lawyer by a long-shot. All he cares about is making money, and boy did he. He did everything to just keep things rolling so he kept getting checks. It was really sad to see his true colors, its all about not trying to bring things to and end and its all about prolonging everything so he keeps getting paid. I really believed in Mr. Walters, but have lost all respect for him. Brian Walters has the ability and brain to do this well, but that is not what he tries to ultimately do. All wants to do is just keep making as much money as possible, and does not try to complete a case. It is really just sad to see how he operates. Best to stay away from this group and Brain Walters, he is a sad excuse for lawyer... read more

Brian is an excellent attorney. Him and his staff are wonderful people. They handled my divorce in a timely and professional matter. Jonathan Hassell was focused on our child custody case from the moment we met. Our daughters safety was my main concern and our end result from litigation was more than satisfactory. He was always available no matter the time of day, weekends it didn't matter. I was never alone through this process. Wouldn't trust anyone else to help us through these difficult issues. read more

I hired Brian for a modification of custody. Brian and Kaitlyn have both been really great. They keep me up-to-date on everything, listen to me when I get frustrated about a situation and show that they care about what happens to my kids. I have worked with several attorneys since 2009. Brian and Kaitlyn have surpassed everyone I have ever used. They are professional, kind, attentive and ethical, a trait I find lacking in most attorneys. I can also appreciate that they use technology to their advantage. I really like the fact that they do most of their communication and documentation electronically. I have not had a negative experience with this firm and will likely use them in the future should I ever need to. read more

This was my first divorce and after this journey the only divorce I'll ever go through. At the beginning I had gone to very many free consultations with other attorneys That ended up with me crying in the car afterward in fear and worry and just extreme frustration of no questions answered and the idea of how it was gonna ruin me financially. After giving up on my search I later was referred to this law firm by someone I sold my wedding ring to. I'll Call this moment in time fate as I look back on it now. I gave the free consultation with Brian one last try before giving up and crawling under a rock. He called me back after I left a message very quickly and to my surprise after an hour conversation on the phone I had a clear understanding of what was going to or could happen. He answered all my questions without me asking. I felt so confident that I was in the right hands and that he would do everything he could in my best interest with compassion and care. After I retained this firm I was introduced to Raya, from the beginning she was patient and concerned just as much as Brian and this made me immediately comfortable with sharing details of my case with her. So at this point I felt like this firm all around and everyone involved cared a ton about their clients. going through what I was going through I truly needed this. My divorce lasted about a year, because my ex husband made it difficult of course.....but Raya pushed through it with me. And when I say "with me",I mean she stayed invested. She never brushed off any of my calls or emails. She was always there and took the time out to reassure me that things were being done and explained anything I didn't understand. She stayed on it and was very proactive. To walk in a courtroom or be in the middle of a divorce is gut wrenching and stressful, painful and can break you. But with Raya as my attorney I had the help of staying strong through it and felt protected. To have the confidence through this process that she was able to provide to me was a blessing. Thank you Raya. Thank you Brian. You two truly are what made this process survivable for me and my family. I'm forever thankful to you. read more

I'm a current client of Mr. Brian Walter's law office in Austin, Texas an I have always had a positive experience in working with him. My primary means of contact with Mr. Walters was through email which was always prompt I never had to wait long for a reply. Mr. Walters also answered questions I had on weekend hours when the office was obviously closed. I was using the legal services for a divorce an I never had a problem with Mr. Walter's performance whatever I asked of him it was done immediately. All petitions an other paperwork was filed quickly. Between the fees I was charged and the work that was received I was very satisfied an I will use this law office in the future if needed. read more

Jake Gilbreath has been extremely helpful and impactful in my recent divorce proceedings. Initially my divorce was amicable, but degraded quickly with legal wrangling on the part of my wife's counsel. Immediately after Jake was engaged, things snapped back to a realistic agenda and a prompt progression timeline. It was quite clear to me that Jake has keen legal insights that allowed me to take the best and shortest path through the divorce quagmire that had developed. Specifically, Jake quickly detailed options for me, which included not only traditional approaches, but creative elements as well. At the same time, he tempered expectations with what was realistic, and most expeditious. This made it much easier to determine my best course of action. It was also apparent that Jake is very effective in the courts of Travis County. He is well respected in the courtrooms, offices, and halls of the courthouse enabling him to manage court processes well. His aggressive, tenacious, but also fair approach, served my interests and objectives well, and I was able to reach a settlement that was more than satisfactory. I cannot recommend Jake more highly. If ever any of my friends or cohorts find themselves in need of representation, I will surely encourage them to contact Jake. read more

I was referred to Brian by friend of mine who is an attorney at a well known firm in town. Brian has been outstanding. He is very efficient in his interactions, very thorough in his explanations of legal processes and always looked out for my best interests in our interactions. He carefully explained options when there were decision points, outlined various alternatives to next steps and then handled the subsequent activities in a timely manner. Brian has been responsive to all my inquiries and also patient in waiting for me to make some decisions. My interactions with him also included a filing with his associate, who is also very professional. Brian ensured that he kicked off that process by setting my expectations and then ensuring a complete and thorough follow up. Brian also leverages technology to handle some of the operational aspects of the engagements and that makes those efficient and cost effective. I would highly recommend Brian. read more
