There are lawyers who are good at their jobs, and then there are rare lawyers who are great at…read moretheir jobs AND delightful to work with. Sam McMechan is definitely the latter. I could ramble about the work itself: a couple of small-business operating agreements, done well at an exceedingly reasonable rate, with plenty of great advice in the mix. That was great, but it's not really why I'm writing this. Why I'm actually writing this: Sam is a really, really good person, and working with him feels more like getting warm advice from a favorite cousin than a lawyer-client transaction. I've worked with quite a few (often excellent) Denver lawyers over the years for various reasons, but Sam is different -- I trusted him immediately, and felt like he really cares about my tiny little LLC. My business is relatively simple, but I find myself actively looking for excuses to contact Sam. Do we need a new operating agreement yet? Can we... I don't know, acquire a company or something with our stockpile of $52 and a pair of broken shoelaces? Don't overthink it: just call, and I can promise you'll at least have a good conversation with a great human who knows his stuff.

I found myself recently in a situation with my HOA where I was seeking advice on how to handle the…read moresituation and found Gantenbein Law Firm. Most people don't think of Yelp as a place to find anything other than a restaurant nearby but can assure you it's much more. If a professional service business has good reviews it's because they did an amazing job so I can assure you to trust those reviews. Their website has a contact form which allows you to submit your request/concern after hours to have someone follow up and walk you through next steps. I was contacted by Jan who had been trying to reach me for over a week (due to me transposing a number for my cell phone) and she was so amazing at providing an overview of how the practice works and what to expect. She has a calming and empathetic way of handling clients and is a great Segway into what to expect after. Jan set an appointment with Matt about a week out who specializes in HOA issues (and had great reviews and feedback on the internet) so I was excited to get some expert feedback on what I should do. Matt called me on the dot for our scheduled appointment and immediately had a way of making me feel at ease -meaning I wasn't worried he was a shady attorney who will tell you anything to get you to put down a retainer. In fact, he did the opposite. He took the time to walk through each of my concerns, provided info on what I need to have on hand to build a case if I wanted, and also was able to reference Colorado laws. He also is the type to admit he might not be the expert in a certain field but could definitely find you one who was. Such an admirable trait to feel you weren't getting catfished :) Anyhow long story short, Matt took more time than allotted to answer my questions and make sure I had everything I needed to decide if I wanted to move forward with a case. He isn't pushy and felt like I was talking to a good friend who offered advice as the SME. Although I'm not sure what I'm doing with my case yet he provided me with more than enough info to help me understand how I can make a decision! I would highly recommend these guys if ever in need of a real estate matter and especially one that involves an HOA! They also do more but that is the reason I reached out! Thanks guys for taking the time to provide and arm me with your knowledge of expertise! While no one ever wants to seek out an attorney these guys are ones you would want to promote to all your friends and family! Thanks again!
