The route here took less than 20 minutes by uber. We were dropped off in this small street, that intersects this fine shopping center. Because it was a weekday, there was not a lot of foot traffic throughout this place, which was actually a good thing. We noticed tons of shops that we'd find back home in LA, to include high end brands. There were many fine eateries, as well as fast food options on the upper levels of the mall. Since we already had food back at the hotel, we decided to eat something small at Carl's Jr. We shopped at Palacio de Hierro, which is similar to Nordstrom in quality. The place was kept immaculately clean, and the staff throughout the center was very nice and accomodating. After getting done shopping, we hailed an uber to head back to the hotel. I'm glad that we made the time to come here. It's a nice shopping center thats on par with Del Amo Fashion Center in LA's south bay. If you have great taste in fashion, or just need to pick something up for an event, this is a good option in the Guadalajara metro area.

She wanted to go shopping, and this became one of our several stops in Plaza Andares. El Palacio de Hierro is on par with Nordstroms back home. The store is nice, very well presented, and has an extensive selection of clothing and other items. The staff here is pleasant, and very attentive. They were able to guide us to exactly what we were looking for. While the girlfriend found the items she needed, I browsed the men's section. Their clothing selection is great, especially if you like darker hues like I do. Some brands you'll recognize from stores back in the US, and some you won't. For the latter, I've found quality in them, to include some brown dress shoes that I get complements on to this day. If you're in town in Guadalajara, and are looking to do some shopping, give this place a try.

I recently visited Guadalajara and went to the Walmart Galerias on Av Vallarta to shop for some…read morethings I needed. Most Walmarts are about the same throughout Mexico. This one had advantages over some others because it is larger and with a bit more variety. Other than that I was not that impressed. Perhaps I'm comparing it too much to my hometown Super Walmart in the USA. This Walmart is next to a Sam's Ckub and adjacent to the Galerias Shopping Mall. So what you can't find in Walmart, you may find at Liverpool, H&M, Aldo's, Carter's-Oshkosh, or one of the other mall stores. You can also eat for cheap at Vips, or go wild at Cheesecake Factory while you send your non-shopping friends to the movies. The parking is paid, so get your ticket validated. On the plus side, some parking is shaded (a huge plus my Walmart ought to have considering the significantly hotter climate. The selection is pretty good: groceries, home goods, over the counter pharmacy and hygiene products, automotive, gardening (plants and pots), apparel, shoes, the usual bakery, deli, etc. I was impressed with the bakery... I tried some mini donuts which were horrible and I didn't even finish one. Their bolillos looked reasonable. As you check out be sure to remember that they only use reusable grocery bags which they sell for a decent price. So bring your own, or buy them here.

Prices to me weren't so bad. 250ml bottles of coke show 6 pesos on the sign but ring up at 8 pesos, which to me is still a good price. There's private, covered parking but you have to make sure to bring in your ticket to get parking validation. The bad part and why I'd avoid this Walmart is the lines and cashier. The cashier was not friendly and very cold. There were two registers open with the lines extending into the clothing area. For the self checkout which is 20 items or fewer it extended past the produce. Also the breads from the Walmart panaderia were just not good and had the taste of butter flavor Crisco. Bathrooms were alright. Not immaculate but stocked and free. There's a Dominos and Krispy Kreme inside.
