Bathroom stop and some snacks and another case of water, this Walmart Supercenter in Winnemucca is on the south side of town next to the Interstate. It was a good shop. The store is easy to access and was well stocked. I found the few things I wanted and was able to ring up the sale at the self checkout without any delay. The parking lot was clean but the cart corrals needed some attention today. I always find it interesting that you can buy liquor in a supermarket in Nevada. I didn't need any today but it's different than my experience in North Carolina where spirits are restricted to state-operated liquor stores. Hooray for freedom. The Walmart deli has black mold all behind the tiles and on the floor the fryer is absolutely dirty half the time they won't change the oil in the fryer. The sinks have caked on them. They treat the employees like they are slaves. read more

They treat you like slaves if everyone is supposed to be cleaning only one person ends up having to do it cause the favorite employees don't have to do anything..My friend was fired from one sanitation problem that was addressed. If you live here in Winnemucca, you're probably really glad to have this super store here, so you don't have to drive to Elko or Reno to get major supplies. If you come from a place where Walmarts are all over the place, to might take this store for granted. I needed some automotive supplies and basically all Walmarts are the same and carry most of the same inventory, so I can just walk in and find what I need and I did here at this place. Actually I found the service here better than most of the other big city Walmarts I've been to, where the staff seem like they could care less and move at a speed according to how much they get paid, or feel they should move for that pay. Here, the employees are friendly and seem to move faster and seem to care about their jobs more, could be well, what's the alternative here in Winnemucca. Lot's of parking and easy to find. We we're just passing though kn a 2000 mile trip. Tire blew out. Went to Walmart and asked to replace it. Heather in the Auto Centre told me it will be at least a couple hours which we did not have. She was super helpful and very great customer service and very personable. I ended up going elsewhere due to time constraints, but wanted to shout out to Heather in the Auto centre. read more

This is specifically about the bakery: I ordered my grandson's birthday cake on-line for his 5th birthday. I live in another state, and due to sheltering at home, we were unable to come and see him. I received a phone call from a very lovely woman named Kay. She explained that the cream I had ordered between the layers was not available and then was very apologetic and offered me several other options. She was kind and funny and made me feel like she really cared about this cake. Turned out, she did! The cake turned out perfect and he loved it! We video chatted and watched as he saw The Cars cake and was so excited! It was perfect! Maybe a cake should not have the power to make a family and extended family so happy. But it did. Winnemucca's WalMart store is the last stop for those things you forgot to pack when going to Burning Man, or for perishables and cold items. Getting into the place can be tricky especially if pulling a trailer. Also prices are slightly higher on some things than what you may be used to seeing at other WalMart stores. This is what I call a mid-tier Supercenter, while it does have groceries it's not the same full product line that the large sized Supercenters carry. This becomes an issue if you stop here hoping they'll carry something you forgot and you realize they don't carry it. Also just because a WalMart in Denver or Salt Lake City carries something doesn't mean you'll find it here either. In short, this is my last stop for supplies before I head out across the notorious Jungo Road "shortcut" (cough,. cough) to Burning Man. And on the way out it's a great place to get stuff like sinus spray, eye drops, and other things to cure playa lung, playa encrusted eyes, alkali burn and other assorted ills that a week at Burning Man causes. 4 Stars. This store has saved my derriere more than once. read more

I am traveling to Montana for work and thought I would switch into Walmart for a oil change. When I was asked about which oil change I wanted I asked them about getting my tarnished headlights restored for a additional 30 dollars. I was told 45 minutes after my oil change. I went shopping for 30 minutes and went back to automotive the loop last change was done and headlight restoration was started. I asked again on what time should I come back. I was told 45 minutes. Well It was more 2.5 hours. Long story short. I was missing 2 blueberry crescent, my headlights were the same and I wasted 2.5 hours of travel. I paid the bill with no discount. Don't get me wrong I had a lot of memories here but also annoying times. This walmart lacks a lot of things. 1-lack to resupply items- we paintballed in this town and they never refilled on paintball items or the items always had problems. Everytime we asked they always said it's not in yet. And months passed still nothing. 2- unhelpful employees- employees literately ignore you I once had to yell a employee and she still didn't respond she acted like i didn't exist. When they other employee appeared she immediately turned around and asked what's up? 3- stupid mechanics-mechanics waste your time here they always mess something up or don't know what they are doing. Don't get your car work done here it's a waste of time. 4-clueless staff- you ask for something they will literally sometimes say "I don't know" or I'm not sure. Then you have to ask someone else then they help? Half the time I had to run around to find someone to get the best deal for a computer mic. Other then that they had things I needed here. I am traveling from California to Virginia, I got a flat tire 12 miles from my starting point at 3am. After several hours of looking for a tire place I finally saw Walmart. They gave me the best service I have ever recieved at a walmart. The best price I have ever gotten. I have been trying for 1-1/2 years to get my tire pressure light to go off and STAY off. I went to 3 tire places and 2 Nissan dealership service centers, everyone said my tire pressure was fine. WELL, after all that, my tire WAS bad and WALMART fixed the problem. I do not know anything about the rest of the store, but the auto part of the store rocked. This WalMart has the worst designed parking lot I have ever seen. Watch the traffic closely, specially over at the west side. I often have seen people driving the wrong way down the lanes. The store is a Super Store so you can buy groceries here too. The one odd thing is they are out of various things at various times. Empty shelves or spaces on shelves are not unusual. This is absolutely the worst Walmart I've ever had to shop at. Granted, I worked retail for long enough to be senstitive to the 'easy fixes'. In any given section of aisle, I can find at least 6 items mispriced, stocked over the wrong label, etc. Which would be understandable if they focused all their energy on quick check-out. But there are usually half the number of check-out stands open that should be while a ton of staff wander aimlessly around the floor. Self-checkout is not a better option. Instead of putting the people with the most experience there (since they have to supervise & do overrides for 4 registers), they put the newest people. I felt horrible for the kid who got stuck there awhile back & wasn't even given the code to do the overrides for people buying liquor or who bumped their bags & confused the computer's weight system. Since they're about the only game in town, I'm sure they'll stay in business. Oddly enough, I've also noticed that the exact same items are more expensive here than at the Walmarts in Reno. Transportation may be slightly more (even though it's right on I80) but land & labor are much cheaper. read more
