The lines are always long now, there is never enough staff, they are trying but particularly in a hurry. It was so much faster with the kiosk and rarely a line. The gas station micromanagement with the cones has caused lines all the way to the street almost every day. Everyone was hoping you'd figure it out and put it back where we decided where we wanted to go. People are naturally more efficient and use common sense, your way is slow and wasteful. I recently was in a Sam's in another state and was shocked at the difference, nicer facilities, clean restrooms, no micromanagement of the gas lines and no congestion. The store was nearer, cleaner, more like a Cisco with better presentation. I didn't realize it's just ours that's unkept, messy and unattractive.

There is one ALDI at: 2630 S. McClelland in Joplin and another I shop at which isn't that busy on weekdays when I go at: 3205 E. 20th Street (right off Rangeline literally in front of the Walmart which is set further back off the road off Rangeline).

They didn't have what I was looking for, which turned out to be a fruit primarily grown in Mexico. But the owner of the store stopped his work and spent several minutes helping me anyway. He did Web searches, made phone calls and gave driving directions to local stores. Throughout, he was pleasant and courteous. His wife, working as a cashier for a lineup of customers, was equally friendly and kind. While he and I chatted, I looked around the store. Their freezers were stocked with beautiful and delicious-looking seafood and other products. There were fresh fruits in boxes. Shelves ran up and down the store loaded with familiar staples and treats in unfamiliar packaging and brands. It was almost as if I'd stepped into a neighborhood market on a South Pacific island. Our conversation wandered and came to rest on our Western food supply. He mentioned they had compared the ingredients of some products they import to those commonly found on the shelves in local supermarkets, and found there were far fewer ingredients overall and almost none of the chemical preservatives. Further along, I complimented him on their store and asked about business. He shrugged and said, "We're trying, but the trade tariffs are hurting us." If you're a fan of Pacific Islander cuisine, interested or just curious, I encourage you to visit Island Genez Market at 2914 East 32nd Street in Joplin, MO. It may surprise some folks that we have a growing Polynesian and Pacific Islander communities in the area. They bring a more diverse culture and foods many midwesterner's have never been exposed too. The owner and I enjoyed a nice chat, some cultural history and shared experiences that made me feel right at home. And I'm a total gringo but I grew up with many friends and coworkers from these parts of the world who are some of the nicest, hardest working people I know. I hope this place is supported so they can grow and bring in more products and flavors from this wonderful region of the world.

I tend to watch the ads till there is a good coupon for photo processing. For example, .10 prints is a great deal. The only negative today is that one thing was advertised with an extra incentive in the ad. However, when I got to that item, it showed the good deal though there were a lot of conditions that were not listed in the paper ad or online.
