The atmosphere of the Amish people driving horse and buggy, boys in suspenders and straw hats while girls wear their bonnets and traditional dresses, the courtesy the men show, clothing hanging on the clothesline, bare feet, fresh produce - I love it. We stopped by the grocery store to pick up baking supplies for cornbread, rhubarb jam, and butternut squash. Most products sold in the store are packed in bulk. It is such a wonderful experience to be amongst the Amish. Please be respectful.

Boy, was I wrong! I went in early June 2026. We lingered around the garden seeds, canning supplies, bulk meats. There were so many grocery items on sale that are not featured in their flyers! Oh, and since June is National Dairy Month, we were treated to a free soft serve cone. The staff is helpful and efficient. Next trip I hope to enjoy lunch there. See you in 2027.

I am spoiled as a chef lol The chicken was ok... No free ice cream they wanted a buck for cup or cone. It was ok on the food... but we drove past a few places that would to have been same price for 2x the food. Off to shopping More room for folks Hard to find some of the specials And out and out bait and switch on the Nathen's hot dog deal the add listed the plain all beef and what was in the store was the ultra spicy ones... That was my main reason for the trip as 99 cents per lb would have been good for a winter stock up item... They did have the biscuits as box of 100 for 20 bucks And bulk fish triangles for 1.99 a lb And Heinz close dated ketchup 44 oz for 2.99 So not a total bust I might be back if I get more freezer space But I do almost as good in west of Bloomfield at Hwy 2 discount

He grabbed a hunk-o-bacon and put it on the scale. Then he said "Aw, wow, there's hella bacon up in that half pound." Now every time my husband and I plan to buy bacon, we say that we need "hella bacon" All thanks to mystery man at Hy-Vee meat counter. Other than the bacon shenanigans at the meat counter, I also think it's very nice that the ladies at the registers don't judge me when I go in every single morning for one blueberry muffin and a single can of energy drink... when a normal person would just buy a package of muffins and a 6 pack of beverages so they don't have to go to the grocery store daily... we've all got our weird idiosyncrasies and I'm glad to not be judged by the helpful smiles at Hy-Vee Oskaloosa for mine.

Having a bad day walking so I thought a quick in and out trip to Aldi would work. We need a larger Aldi store And maybe a restock mid afternoon added for management. They can do this by the before open item checks and sales check count for low stock. They need a pen computerized system to red light when things are running low to trigger a quick restock event and or another small truck from local distribution warehouses for Aldi And show if an item is low stock in the Aldi app for the location we are at! Save time and money for sure!

I had to do a double, triple take- they had about five different beers available. None of them were cold. None of them were the major brewers. I consider myself a relatively worldly beer drinker, and I'd never heard of any of their four or five warm beers they were selling. Am I missing something? Other than that, they had a strange layout with lots of small sizes on their options. It seems like a place to go for your lunch break instead of shopping for your American sized family. There is no liquor store attached to this grocery, unlike the competition across the street...
