I had informed the receptionist of what my dental insurance stated they would covered, expecting that I would pay a certain percentage of the bill. She assured me that I'd be reimbursed the large amount I was being charged on my credit card. Sure enough when I called them weeks later, they stated that part of the procedure they did was not covered because it's a "special device." THIS is irritating as a consumer. They should be upfront and tell you what is and what isn't covered. It feels shady how they presented it because as a regular customer, we assume a root canal is a root canal and that the customer has been told what percentage they have to pay by their insurance company. If I knew that they use a "special device" that costs extra and is not covered by my insurance, then they should be upfront and not try to act that the customer will then be reimbursed the expected amount.
