Having been in Canberra for business the previous evening, my wife stayed in a forgotten hell hole motel, booked by her company, for much more. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a 1 bedroom apartment for the night. Beds were comfy. Crisp clean white linen. Soft white towels. I believe the shampoos are for emergency only and you take your own if your'e particular anyway. Thought it was fine. Noticed the lack of cream, but wasn't bothered. Good selection of tv channels. Dual air conditioning. Dishwasher, microwave and kettle in kitchenette adds all the at-home convenience. Beautiful shower. Water a bit temperamental. Breakfast was awesome and well worth pre booking for the $19pp buffet. Clean room. I was impressed to find linen for the baby in the cot, blanket and sheets!(nice touch!) All and all a great place for business stay and even a romantic break. Complimentary late checkout 11am and like everything in Canberra, it has a central location close to everything. Nice selection of restaurants 1km away at Dickson Centre. Great experience. Found it pretty child safe too, so we had little to worry about our little walker. Highly recommended.

They're also partnered with the Pavillion which is just behind the Aria so you can use the Pavillion's pool & facilities and also eat at their restaurant - which I'll also review- and charge to your room which is handy! And you can order Room Service from the Pav. There are a few reasons for my low-ish rating. We'd asked for a twin room & were told they could split the bed into 2 but were given a double & the hotel was booked out so they couldn't move us. This was only a minor annoyance for us but could be a problem in some situations... eg if you were *travelling* with a minor! The second reason that contributed to the loss of a star is the toiletries! I stay in a lot of hotels & have a reasonable expectation of moisturizer, shampoo & conditioner. There is no moisturizer at the Aria and the shampoo/conditioner was one of those god-awful "combined" ones that leave your hair like straw. I had to put some beeswax moisturizer stuff my friend had thankfully packed, in my hair. Finally, and this really annoyed me: we checked in at 10:30pm, didn't kick up a fuss about the twin bed situation, stayed 2 nights & had a laugh with the night staff both nights. We were harassed THREE TIMES in the morning to check out. They called at 10:30am asking what time we'd be checking out- weird. Then the cleaners knocked at 10 to 11. I had to finish an urgent email and didn't leave the room until 10 past which is pretty standard- the girl on the front desk called me *again* at 11:08 asking where I was- and my friend was already in the lobby with all our stuff! I don't know if it's standard procedure for them to rush guests out after 2 days for being 8 minutes late, or if she was just having a bad day, but I have to rate based on my experience! By the way we were part of a production crew that had booked a large number of rooms for a long stay. Oh the coffee in the lobby is really good.

The hotel is well kept but pretty darn old for a hotel/motel in a capital city. Rooms are good size and come in a variety of configurations. My room had a kitchen and full-size fridge, a couch, and a small table that functioned as desk. Bed linen was cleaned every other day or so. The layout of my colleagues' adjacent rooms was hilariously odd with a shared kitchen and bathroom. All good you say? Well, probably not if you realized one had the bathroom and the other the kitchen and that you had to enter the other person's room to use the facilities!

I went to work every morning which made the stay reasonable, but Monday - Saturday the construction crews worked from 7AM sharp to about 430PM. The construction also majorly screwed up my walking route to work as I had to cross multiple streets in L shaped patterns. This would have been fine, but crosswalks in Canberra are green for about 5 seconds. The fridge was OK, but filled with minibar junk I wouldn't touch. No complimentary anything. Bathroom was clearly built by UK designers as the shower overflowed onto the bathroom floor and the glass window which could have easily been 1-2 feet longer or use a door (what a crazy idea!) was just short for no reason so I had to mop my floor every morning. There's no breakfast option as I mentioned before there's a restaurant in the lobby, but you pay a la carte for everything, even coffee. It's good, but honestly just having a working coffee machine with one or two pots going is normal for even the most basic of motels. I would give the place 3 stars had it been half the price I paid. They really need to refund people's money if they expect them to stay in a place that has construction noise most of the day and construction that makes foot and car traffic awful. It's not really near anything as most of the places you want/need to go are due north or northeast of the hotel. QT seems out of the way for absolutely no reason, I really don't know why I stayed here.

If you just want drinks at the bar you need to pay with a credit or debit card as the employees don't want to go behind the front desk to get you change. If you have the exact amount, you're good. The hotel was recently renovated in 2018. However, each room seems to have a different thermostat from new to old, and the people I traveled with said their room AC either worked well or didn't. The cleanliness of the hotel was ok. There cobwebs in one corner of the room, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in a while. Overall, it was ok, but if you're looking for a hotel in Canberra, do your research.

The bar/restaurant looked updated, as well as the lobby area. The staff was always friendly and efficient. Parking was underneath and that was sometimes a challenge, as there didn't seem to be enough spots and most of them were quite small.
