I popped in to grab some fresh seafood before heading back home to Cary. I stopped at a couple…read moreother seafood markets in the area, but they all smelled so strong that it was hard to stay in the store. The fish seemed much fresher at Blue Ocean and the smell was so much milder. I had a lot of questions and the guy at the counter was so helpful and friendly! He also did an amazing job packing my fish and shrimp with tons of ice for the drive. I made some of the shrimp as soon as I got home and it was awesome! Hoping to plan another trip very soon and will definitely be back to stock up!

After pointing out the specials board, first they tried to tell me it wasn't on special and then after she physically went outside and read the board that THEY put out there, they said that was only for their frozen fish. I did not ending up purchasing the fish but called later just to see if their stories would stay consistent and they said over the phone that all flounder was $5.99/pound and that they would weigh it after the cleaned it. I then told her I was the same person who tried to purchase the flounder earlier on special and she still made up different stories about what I was trying to purchase vs what was on the specials board. Felt like they were trying to take advantage of a local because maybe they thought I was a tourist. Very disappointed and will be taking all my seafood business to Captain Jim's instead. Also, tried to purchase blue crabs last summer and after they checked, they were all dead from being too cold in their freezer. @Blue Ocean - do better!

For my 300th review of 2025, I get to update my review of Beaufort Grocery. Beaufort Grocery is in…read morethe historic district of Beaufort, NC. The building was once Owen's Grocery store and is now a casual restaurant. They serve sandwiches and salads for lunch, but the dinner menu is closer to fine dining. I highly recommend making reservations if you are going for dinner, as it is a very popular place, even in the off-season. Reservations are not taken for the Sunday brunch, so I made sure to get there early to be first in line. On my recent visits, the restaurant was decorated for the holidays, so that was fun. It is small inside, but in warmer weather, there are outside tables. Alex took care of me at dinner. He was very welcoming, friendly, and could answer all my questions. He was very attentive and made sure my iced tea was always full. I went with the special for the night. I ordered the ribeye special without realizing it was 20 ounces. Thankfully, my appetite was good that night. It came with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I did get dessert too, and that was a chocolate peanut butter pie. That took me two days to finish. At brunch, my waitress was friendly and went over all the specials. I had a green apple mocktail, the #18 poached and stacked. I did the mini sweet potato biscuits as well so it was a lot of food. Alex, from dinner, saw me and asked me about my trip, so it was nice to see him again, and I thought it was nice that he remembered my plans. I will be dining here at least once on future trips to Beaufort, NC.

Our first time dining at this restaurant and probably our last. We had heard such rave reviews of…read morethis restaurant, but frankly we would prefer to go next door to Blue Moon Bistro. This restaurant was crowded (mainly because not many restaurants are open on Monday evenings) and loud. The tables are close together. The food was mainly just okay. The Scallops were undercooked, the Duck two ways was okay, but the duck breast was also undercooked. I guess if you want Saganaki and the "Opa" experience this is the place to eat. Otherwise, we were not impressed.
