My initial Google search provided me studio photography options that just weren't my style. What happened next was fate. I did an image search, and came across a vibrant photo taken at American Tobacco Campus. Who was behind the camera for THAT? Turns out it was Ms. Carolyn Scott! I looked at her website and fell in love with her portfolio. My benchmark for photographers are children's photos - if you can photograph children, you can photograph anything. Her family photography looks so natural and captures each member perfectly. Sold. Contacting her was easy, and chatting with her was like catching up with an old friend. I decided to do a full branding session because I wanted to be photographed in 2 different outfits - one for my professional branding, the other to celebrate my 34th birthday. The session itself was so much fun. It's natural to feel a bit nervous at first, but she's very good at helping you relax and feel your best. I use my photographs for everything from LinkedIn and Zoom profile pics to social media and my blog. Highly recommend.

So I booked a photography session with Alexandra. Working with her was great! We communicated via email and phone, setting up the right time and location for our photo shoot. She worked really well with our little boy, and it was clear that she was familiar with working with babies. We went through a variety of poses, all while keeping our normally finicky baby entertained - he never had a chance to get antsy because we were putting him in a variety of creative poses and holds. The turnaround for the photos was incredibly fast, and we were so excited to see the finished product. The photos looked great, and I love that we have digital files so we can print them in a variety of formats. We are looking forward to working with Alexandra again in the future!

She shared that she had really developed as a photographer using it as a form of therapy after facing postpartum depression. My respect for her grew tremendously when she shared that so openly after only knowing me for a short while. During the session she was mentoring a fellow photographer, "a way to pay it forward" - and again, I think this speaks volumes about her character. Her studio was gorgeous - tons of natural light with large windows and comfy chairs. I loved that it didn't take a ton of props and "glamour shot" type set up to get started. I think too many times people go over the top with child photography but Corey kept it simple and made sure our daughter was having fun. This in turn really captured her in a way that showed who she is - beautiful inside, too. In terms of Corey's demeanor and work - she was incredibly sweet, patient, patient, professional, and great with our little one. She even shared some snacks to get her "camera ready." Corey did an awesome job of just naturally capturing our little girl's spirit and personality. She didn't try to force anything and really knew when things were and weren't working. We look forward to working with Corey again in the future and would recommend Glee and Bliss to anyone looking for quality photos of their child!

Beyond the typical poses in front of the monuments and the memorials, she captured us moving about the city, very much in the style of a photo-journalist. As a bit of an amature photographer myself, I wanted her to tell me her secrets to get the the colors and the lighting so perfect, and how she made her subjects look so good. She showed me a few things, but I think kept most of it secret! I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a photographer who focuses on capturing images of people as her primary subjects. It definitely makes sense that she has 20+ glowing reviews on The Knot, but Yelpers should know about this awesome wedding/engagement photographer, too! I reached out to Kerry as I planned a trip to New Orleans, one of the places I love to visit most in the world. I hoped this trip would be the best yet as I planned a surprise proposal to my now-fiance (spoiler alert: yes, she said yes!) under the grand live oaks in New Orleans. I hoped Kerry would help us capture the special afternoon with a few of her photographs. Simply, Kerry was a star. In the planning process, she was supportive and patient counsel, always thoughtfully contributing but letting me make the final choices. On the big day, she was not only a complete professional but also felt like an invested friend who we'd known for years. For example, she brought along her friend and dog as "decoys" to photograph as we walked by, and took a final photograph of us as we walked away, long after we (thought we) parted ways. In days, she sent a few that she loved as a taste of what was to come, and before we got back home to California, she delivered 150+ stunning photos to us. We've since relived that special day with family and friends. My fiance and I can't recommend Kerry highly enough. We're still in the afterglow of the engagement, but we're eager to reach out to her once the wedding planning starts in earnest, as she's got an eye--and the heart--for capturing the spirit of what's in front of her camera. You're tops, Kerry!
