My mother and I purchased these about 6 years ago for $100. I'm from Goose Creek and I've mentioned Mr. Thomas Williams name at every hospital and doctor appointment because someone asks questions about my cane. I explain to every person the history of these canes. Someone stopped me in Lowes the other day admiring my cane. I hope I sent a lot of business Mr. Thomas's way from Charleston and Goose Creek, SC. "Look! It's the Walking Stick Guy!" These are the exact words I say every time our family drives on the Sweet Grass Basket Highway (Hwy 17) through Mount Pleasant, Awendaw, Georgetown, Pawley's Island, affectionately known as the SC lowcountry, towards my parents house in Myrtle Beach. Thomas has been harvesting cypress knees and roots for his walking canes & staffs for over 40 years. His walking canes are hand carved with some intricate designs while some are whimsical or novel with animals or golf club heads on them. Thomas is local and is a joy to talk to. The canes are made from roots and wood from the low country and would make a great souvenir. Stop by and sit a spell. Thomas's store is set up in Pawley's Island off of Hwy 17. read more
