If you're looking for a place to bring the family (with little kids) or somewhere where you're…read moreguaranteed to catch a fish without completely feeling like you're at essentially just netting some fish out of an aquarium, this is a GREAT place to go. It can be expensive, since you're paying by the pound ($8.95/lb) and you're not allowed to throw any back ($5 fee for every fish you throw back). But the experience is worth it if you're in town for a weekend or looking for something a little different to do, but not wanting to be disappointed going home empty-handed. This place was made up of 2 ponds where you could fish, and they were both stocked with trout. Because it's nestled in the forest, you do feel like you're in a legitimate place to fish, and not necessarily at a stocked pond. The pond itself is also murky, like you'd expect nature to be, so you don't really see all the fish in there, but if you catch a glimpse of the fish by the shore, you get the feel that you're pretty much surrounded by fish. Not complaining though! When you arrive, you can rent fishing rods for a $1 each. One of ours broke and he replaced it with another complimentary. He also provides you with worms as bait for $0.50. The owner isn't the friendliest but I don't think means anything by it. We were there for a couple hours and caught four trout, our last one being the biggest, twice as large as the others! We caught three trout that were all around 1-1.5lbs each and then the last one was about 3 lbs! So the pond has a wide variety of sizes to catch from. The owner cleans the fish for you, and you get the choice of cleaned/gutted or filleted. Keep in mind that filleted doesn't necessarily mean fillets like you see at the grocery store, where things are boneless, and you just have the meat. Here, the fillets are essentially cleaned, the main spine is removed, head and tail removed, and split in half but still has the skin and is essentially one piece of fish with two sides. He puts it on ice so it helps keep it fresh on your way home. I'd highly recommend bringing a cooler and your own ice to keep it fresh for longer, in case you were going to do other things in the area after. We left it in the truck, in the ice, in the cooler overnight, and by the time we got back home it had been a little over a day before we got to it. The fish themselves tasted so much better than you get from the store though! It was orange flesh, which means they've been feasting on some good grub like crustaceans, grub, etc., rather than fish food. And the meat was tender, mild yet flavorful, incredibly fresh and delicious.

Our family and some friends stayed here for four nights/five days just after new years. What a fun…read moreand interesting place to share with loved ones! Plenty of room for a large group to spread out but the house also provides real coziness that makes it feel like a (very cool) home away from home. Our group loved shooting pool, feeding the jukebox, playing pinball, and taking turns at the one-armed bandit all while enjoying a roaring fire near the full-sized, classic wooden bar. the hot tub was truly awesome and large enough for us all to enjoy and we also loved taking advantage of the huge dining room to play games or the super comfy den area to hang out and watch movies. We loved the layout of the upstairs bedrooms giving everyone privacy but also being near each with a vintage hotel vibe. I couldn't get over the wrap-around balcony shared by all the bedrooms...loved it... so many details big and small that truly make this place an original. Seeing as it was early January we couldn't truly appreciate the huge yard with its many statues and sculptures (and a vintage phone booth that works) as well as the close proximity to the water, but I hope we can stay again when it's warm to take it all in during the peak season. The host and his assistant are super attentive and very responsive. It's clear they put a lot of time and planning into trying to give everyone the best experience possible. My only regret is that we didn't bring more people with us to share this treasure! I highly recommend.

FINALLY! It's been a couple months since we stayed at Adeline's and all this time I've been wanting…read moreto write a review, but just forgot. This is my second time at Adeline's. The first time we randomly chose Adeline's for my partner and I and our ten year anniversary. We fell in love when we saw the pictures on their website. We were really excited. I think our impression was that we would be staying at an era '20s retreat. Knowing the history of the Wisconsin Northwoods and gangsters like Capone and Bugsy and Baby Face we kind of thought there was a theme there. To be fair, Adeline's doesn't dive deep into all that, but we absolutely loved it...all of it! One thing we will say is that we stayed in the late late Fall. While there wasn't snow yet, we did catch the last of the Fall colors and will rethink our third stay so we can either enjoy the lake (which is right there. Really, right there) and the gardens. Even closing in on winter we could tell that the gardens were spectacular in the summertime. Cant wait to see them then. Okay, so we decided to stay here, just my partner and I, thinking the place was a romantic couples retreat. It is, seriously, it was very romantic. Though, it is huge. That was a lot of fun having it all to ourselves - especially the hot tub, the huge hot tub. But, while we did feel kind of Gatsby-ish alone in Adeline's we also realized that this place would be great for a larger group of guests. That's what we did pretty quickly after our first stay. My partner is a huge mystery fan, so she organized a murder-mystery weekend with some good friends and coworkers. It was a casual and fun game that seemed to fit well with the ambiance, especially when we sat in front of the massive stone fireplace trying to figure out "Who dun it..." It worked out great. A couple things to keep in mind - and we didn't take advantage of - is that there is skiing nearby. Maybe an hour away. I don't ski, but my partner is from Tahoe, so... But, it didn't matter because it was too early in the season for snow on the hills. The second time we were busy with the murder-mystery. Also, we are both Pack fans, so we might be interested in staying here for a game in the future. It would be a great place to hang out for an extended weekend, drive up to Green Bay, and then back for some dogs and burgers. Anyway, this is probably a rambling review, but, we did love Adeline's. Wish we could have talked to the owner more so we can get some insight into the history of the place. One of our friends swears she saw a woman in a flowing dress on the porch near the fireman's pole. Yep, there's a fireman's pole. Highly recommended.
