And yet, when I would get out my war paint, it was just so...Ugh. A jillion bottles of partially used foundation because they weren't quite right. Too drying, too oily, too dark, too light, to harsh for my skin, too heavy, too pink, too cake-y.. the list goes on but you get the picture. If at any point reading this you said, "Yes, that's me!", you need to head to Ulta. This is a full service beauty store, meaning they know what they have, they listen, they figure out what you need and they let you try it before buying. I went in with my sister with the understanding that she would be my muscle. I did not want to walk out of there with some $80 crazy priced product and certainly not something that required multiple steps and layering of products. So there we stood, surrounded by different brands, all touting different benefits and all in hundreds of shades. I was overwhelmed to say the least. Enter Antonio. He asked if we were ok and I blurted out NO! My refined sister calmly said we needed guidance on foundation. He was so nice. He looked at my skin, asked me some questions, including what kind of coverage I wanted. I said medium to light coverage because I didn't want to look like I was trying to be a 20 year old using face filters on Instagram. He chose a brand and two different shades. He sanitized his hands, got clean make up sponges and tried the first shade on the right side of my face. He said, "Hmmm, a little too pink" then he used the other shade on the left side of my face. Much better! I ended up with Bare Minerals in Medium Beige. It looks dark in the bottle but it's not. Trying it on is SO beneficial. Also, it has a twist up lid so there's no bumbling around with a loose lid AND the bottom raises as you use it, so there will be no unused product! He offered to fix the right side of my face but I just put my mask back on. I was so grateful for his expertise and he said that if I didn't like it after using it a few times, I could just bring it back with my receipt for an exchange. You read that right - Ulta will exchange makeup! I have worn it and I still like it. It didn't aggravate my rosacea and it didn't settle into my laugh lines. Another bonus? I have a lot more space because I trashed those jillions of bottles! What a win!

Employees aren't trained well either. Cashier said no returns after 30 days, had to leave and go to another location, when ulta states return policy is 60 days. Management also SUCKS. I hate this location.

The lady I spoke to on the phone assured me they did and simply had great customer service over the phone. Her positive and upbeat attitude really drew me in. Once I'd stepped foot inside I was immediately greeted and when I made my way to the section of products I was interested in a sales associate by the name of Emily told me many key points about the line, made suggestions on several products from the line as well as another line I had never heard of. She treated me as though I was the only customer in the store and other various associates would pass by and agree with her recommendations. I really felt important and that I was well on my way with the correct products. Emily also reminded me that Sephora does complimentary mini facials if I was ever interested in trying a full skincare line. Thrilled with my visit today! It is a smaller store, I moved here from Charlotte a year ago so I have grown accustomed to that in Winston lol. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted like I normally am at literally every Sally's I've ever been to, even though there were 2 ladies standing behind the counter talking and on their phone. They stared me and my boyfriend down every time we passed them but never offered to help. Eventually I asked them if they had my specific product in so I could speed the uncomfortable visit up. The older white lady just looked at me and mumbled a few products they had from the brand, but no leave in conditioner. So I asked which leave in conditioner would help best for my needs. She pointed at the whole wall and didn't give me any information about any product, just told me that they had a lot. Needless to say I will unfortunately be turning to Amazon for hair care products after being a member at Sally's for years, at least until I move out of the city.
