I'm writing this review for one particular employee at the Walgreens Pharmacy in Sugar Grove by the name of Harrison. Harrison was the pharmacy tech who helped me today, and even though he could not fully resolve the issue, he went above and beyond trying to help. He called Walgreens corporate, contacted my insurance company, paid attention to every detail, and maintained professionalism and care the entire time. You can tell he truly cares about his work and helping people, which is rare these days. Walgreens on the other hand really needs to improve their systems when it comes to dealing with secondary insurance because the system failed and never allowed my second insurance to pay the co-pay even though my insurance company stated it was approved. Harrison did everything he possibly could to help and represented the pharmacy extremely well. read more

On 3/4/25, Luz in the Sugar Grove pharmacy was excellent to work with and just a good person. I arrived just before close to pick up an order for my pregnant wife and it was not ready. Luz could have easily said, "it's not ready, come back tomorrow," but she went out of her way to fulfill the order with the pharmacist. Very clean location and most of the staff are nice and helpful. The online order pickup here is super quick. I'll place an order and it's always ready in 30 mins or less, sometimes it's ready in less than 10 mins! I've had no issues picking up in store or curbside. Check the prices in the app before going because most times they are much cheaper than the in-store prices. I have found items here that are twice as much in store as they are on the app. This is why I usually just do pickup orders. read more

Absolutely horrible service from Walgreens pharmacy. Over the past few years this store has gone from decent...to unbearable. The staff, techs and pharmacists (specifically Courtney) never cease to disappoint. Whether it be filling a prescription, talking about a medicine, Dr communication, refills...you name it...they mess it up. I'm so finally over saying how much I hate this place (bc of the literally hours I've waisted solving issues that they have create) and FINALLY going back to my further away target CVS. Walgreens no longer supports veterans. Three days ago I signed up my daughter for a covid test for today at 09:30. I supplied my insurance information on the website and no issue at all. This morning, I arrived at my at the Walgreens in sugar grove IL only for the pharmacist to tell me, they do not work with Aetna. I asked her why the web site didn't tell us this and she said, that a website issue not a store issue. I then gave her my military ID card and then she said they do not support veterans either. That alone is crazy because we get our flu shots at Walgreens using my military healthcare benefits. Mind you, I am a service connected disabled retired veteran. How insulting and not sure why Walgreens no longer supports veterans. She then said if I still want to take the test it would cost me $130 and it had to be cash only. WHAT? I feel like I am being scammed and insulted at the same time. I called my insurance provider Aetna PPO, and they too were baffled because they work with Walgreens and cover 100% of covid tests. I asked the pharmacist to call Etna and then she changed her tune and said, "OK, I'll give you An exception, THIS TIME but not the next time." Walgreens, you have got to be kidding me! First you Try too scam me out of $130 CASH mind you then Walgreens insults me by saying Walgreens no longer supports veterans? Seriously? This Rx should be named "Murphy's" because everything always goes wrong. I've lived in area for four years and have experienced ongoing issues with pharmacy. These are a few recent examples. I got different insurance, went inside store to have information put into their system. Young man working counter enters all info. I return next day and magically all info gone. It takes another trip until I can get meds. 2. I dropped off a paper prescription and asked to pick up later. When I returned they looked at me like I was crazy, had no written Rx on hand! They claimed I might be confused with another pharmacy. A few days later I received a call - they found my Rx in copy machine. Oops. 3. Last month I was in Drive thru to pick up refills. I verified info and little cashier started looking in bins for my medicine. She looked thru EVERY bin and then had pharmacist fill Rx again. I watched her so I know this. In the 20 minutes I sat in Drive thru I was never given an explanation of issue or informed there was a delay. Girl just walked away for 20 minutes. 4. I just picked up refill again today. I pulled up to drive thru to do routine, they couldn't find a prescription. I know this because girl that asked my name and address walked away from window and never came back. Ten minutes later a man of middle eastern descent pops into window, he has no clue what's going on. When I ask where the first girl went he told me she was "on the phone or with another customer". He had no clue why she left me hanging at window. I explain, again, that I am picking up monthly refills. He returns one short. Then dude leaves window and reappears seven minutes later. I had to ask wtf is going on??? Man replied that Rx I dropped off THREE days ago "never got processed for some reason". Where was it for 3 days!? Newly build walgreens in small town. Very helpful staff, easy to locate things in the store. More items that in usuall walgreens. Mire bevarages, snacks and food. Parking lot was almost empty when I got there around 6.30 pm. Great addition to developing town. Highly recommend. read more

Not all Walgreens are the same. I am very happy that our local Walgreens has some of the nicest employees and they are always willing to help. I have gone to other locations and I always end up kicking myself for not sticking to my local one. The pharmacists always take their time answering questions about any medicine and never make you feel rushed. I even had an occurence where I accidentally forgot a bag of items i had purchased there and the person at the front counter rushed out to my car to give it to me. read more

I called Walgreens to complain about being refused a prescription even though I have appropriate coverage! I was told that "management"...cannot get back to me until Monday afternoon ......today is Saturday! It's a good thing I tried to renew before running out! So much for real customer service at this place. read more

They told my my prescription would be ready in 1 hour. But 2 hours later they tell me it will be another 20 minutes. Staff was nice. But they are slow as a sloth!!! Won't be returning to the Sugar Grove Walgreens anytime in the future. read more

This pharmacy has the absolute WORST customer service. For the last three prescription refills I have had to return three times in an attempt to pick them up - because Walgreens does not know how to pick up the phone and call when they have issues refilling the prescription due to insurance, when I specifically told them we would NOT be billing the insurance but paying cash. This last time I attempted to refill a prescription with them, I sat at the drive-thru window for 10minutes, repeatedly ringing the bell, with no acknowledgement. I ended up going inside, at which time he then attended to the window before assisting me. Definitely finding a new pharmacy even if I have to travel farther for respectable customer service. read more

pharmacy technician was totally incompetent and gave medications which were generic and not brand name after I told her twice to make sure it is brand name. I am extremely upset with the customer service in the pharmacy of this walgreens. As soon as we arrived we were treated differently then other customers. I brought my grandmother who spoke little English to pick up a prescription for my disabled grandfather. Our prescription got denied because apparently it had been filled somewhere else, but she said she would call the insurance to see where it was. I noticed her attitude with us but didn't pay much attention until I could hear her talking with another worker talking badly about us saying she had no idea what we were saying to her and couldn't understand when I, Hispanic but born in the US speak perfect English. I also could hear her whispering but couldn't make out what she was saying. I confronted her and when confronted she was speechless and knew she had gotten caught. I have no words for how disrespected I felt and I will not return to this pharmacy again. Everyone should be treated equally and with respect no matter their ethnic background. read more

Love this Walgreens! I live right in the middle of 2 Walgreens and I usually attend the one on Galena Blvd.... But I might be attending this one more often! This one was so accommodating to my purchases! The first thing the employees did was look for coupons for me to save and was able to give me great deals!
