Like this place! The hours are right, brightly lit, super easy access in the Split Rock shopping center. On the corner of Bridgeport and the Old Stratford exit off 8 North. No lines, easy in and out. Well lit corner, owing to a rather popular, modern strip mall, nchored by the likes of Outback Steakhouse and some decent eats. I'm simply charmed by its being located on a gentle hill. I went to print photos from my phone at their photo area. During this visit I asked a photo employee (who to my shock refused), and then the store manager, to help me connect my phone to print photos. Both said, "We don't do that. You should know how to do that!" I knew that wasn't true because I had been helped before, and there was no signage posted that the customer should do everything by himself/herself. After sharing personal medical information with the store manager as to why I particularly needed assistance, she proceeded to be even more abusive. Both employees' actions caused me to suffer, and I believe I was discriminated against. I filed a complaint #25519165 with Santana on Oct. 30th, 2025. Since then Walgreen's regional manager, Lisa (an escalation supervisor) and a corporate executive have all dropped the ball. read more

I had always been a CVS fan until my new insurance carrier limited my prescriptions to Walgreens. To my surprise, I am experiencing a far better customer service at the Walgreens located in Shelton than the service that I had been receiving at the CVS located in Stratford. For your information, my doctor inadvertently sent my prescription to CVS. I subsequently went to the CVS MyChart portal and transferred my prescription to Walgreens. Within two days, I went to Walgreens to pick up my prescription. Walgreens stated that they had not received the transfer; therefore, they immediately faxed the request to CVS in my presence. CVS failed to respond that day. I attempted to call CVS but was unable to speak to a live person. I drove to CVS the following day, and was told by a CVS pharmacy representative that I should have CVS fill the prescription instead. I said that was not feasible, because my insurance will not allow it. She then said, "Perhaps you will need to call your doctor to send it to Walgreens". This, too, was not feasible because it was on a Sunday, and I needed my medications now. CVS assured me that they would fax my prescription to Walgreens, but failed to do so promptly. However, Val at Walgreens took the initiative to personally follow up with CVS until the prescription was received, and then she called me to pick it up when the prescription was ready. Since then, I have been visiting Walgreens more frequently. I continue to receive excellent customer service from the store in all. I have become a Walgreens Believer! read more

So this review is just in the store, I have no pharmacy or photo experience. The store was pretty well stocked, even seasonal right before Christmas. The line was a little long, but they added an extra cashier (which some are loathe to do) so things kept moving. The parking lot had a fair amount of spaces, but is a little compact as far as roads go, so take care backing out. read more

Oh, Walgreens. Where do I even begin? You'd think after scheduling not one, but TWO appointments for vaccines, they'd actually have...you know, the vaccines! But nope, apparently that's just too much to ask. They confirmed both times that they had them like promised. Twice. I don't know if I was talking to someone on their coffee break, but the confidence was there. Yet both times, I arrived to the kind of news that only Walgreens can deliver: "Oh, sorry, we don't have the kids' vaccine." Now picture this: I'm sitting in those plastic chairs that scream "this will only take a minute," and it turns into a 25-minute wait. Twice. 25 minutes of listening to bad music while my kids are getting increasingly anxious and fidgety like they're waiting for a surprise math quiz. At one point, my youngest looked at me like, "Is this what betrayal feels like, Dad?" I have to give them one star because zero stars isn't an option. Walgreens, you had one job! Next time I want to waste a bunch of time and leave disappointed, I'll just try to cancel my cable. read more

Store is good. Pharmacy is horrible. It went from excellent to crap . Emails and phone calls saying your prescriptions are ready. You get there wait in line and they are NOT. You are told to come back in two hrs. Still when you come back you have to wait , as they are not ready. The phone is never answered and after being on hold for 40 minutes it hangs up. Workers seem overwhelmed and customers in line as frustrated as you are. I have used them for 30 years .They Used to be excellent. What happened I do not know . Also they have posted hrs. You go to get needed meds . to find the store open ,but a paper sign on the pharmacy that they decided to close early that day. After a year of this treatment , I just changed Pharmacies. read more

There is typically long lines in the pharmacy and the staff aren't as helpful locating items. The store is usually stocked with items.

Two years later and still a one. Got the wrong prescription for what was ordered. Tried to tell me that it was filled exactly as ordered. Showed them a copy of the order. Got oh sorry, unbelievable. That plus the insane wait every time makes this place a bad choice. We will see how the new cvs is next time read more

I have been using the downtown Walgreens for years, now that it closed l have been transferred to the one on Bridgeport Ave, after one experience l will be moving to either Walmart or CVS. I called in a simple refill on Monday, they said l could pick it up Tuesday. I stopped by on either Wed. or Thu. and decided not to wait in the long line. I went this morning at 8:50 and they were not open yet, came back at 9:30 and watched as it took almost 10 minutes each for the two people in front of me. I finally get to the counter and they haven't made mine up yet. Instead of offering a solution all l got was excuses and was told it would take a couple hours and l could come back...not happening! The service and responsiveness of this store is unsatisfactory. Picking up prescription took nearly 1/2 hour. Rude and understaffed- poor Managment. Walgreens pharmacy on Bridgeport Ave in Shelton, CT would not fill my husband's prescription for Ivermectin. It was prescribed by his doctor. Each time we called the pharmacy they stalled and said they couldn't get it in. This drug is highly politicized and apparently, this Walgreens is too. I was in Walgreens pharmacy pick up line today from 12:00 pm to 12:40 pm. I do not understand why it would take so long to PICK UP a prescription after I phoned in the refill and any questions about the refill would have been answered before I was in line for pick up. There were initially five cars in front of me. Two cars left I assume out of frustration. I called the pharmacy manager and he said they were also doing COVID testing in the drive up. Maybe they should have a separate lane for pharmacy pick up and another JUST for COVID testing and a separate staff for each. It is a very frustrating experience to sit in line for 40 minutes especially at gas also $4.50 a gallon. Seems there should be a simpler, more efficient and faster way to simply pick up a prescription. Hopefully someone in authority will look into this frustrating situation. They wouldn't call my insurance company when my prescription wouldn't go through, and made me call them. Then, when my insurance company wanted to talk to them on the phone, they said they were too busy. The insurance company was confused as to why they wouldn't call themselves to get the RX to go through. Instead, maybe they should have taken the information and told me they would call me when it was all set. Or do something. It's their job to talk to the insurance company. read more

I have used Walgreens on Bridgeport Ave Shelton several times because it was close to home. I will NEVER use them again. Most orders take several hours to fill. They advertise an express service but the express line is not identified in the store, and if you ask staff, they dont know what the service is. Today an employee hung up on me when I was ready to ask about a 2nd prescription. When I called back & told her politely that she hung up on me, she never apologized. Awful. Examples of issues we've had: they told us a time to pickup a prescription. We went there FOUR HOURS AFTER that time (almost at closing) and it still wasn't ready. Happened several times. They often tell us they don't have medications in stock. To get someone on the phone to ask a question is a very time consuming ordeal (I just hung up after 11 minutes of holding). They wanted to charge me $93 for a medication (with a coupon!) and another pharmacy had the SAME EXACT medication for $13. I'm so over this place. Definitely going elsewhere. read more

If you ever want your prescription filled... do not get it filled here. I waited on the pharmacy line inside the store for 30+ minutes...I waited so long that I started making friends while waiting in line. We were all taking bets as to what was taking so long--understaffed, new employees? Training? Just plain slow?I finally got to the counter to be told that the prescription was not in the "system".... The doctor called the prescription in a hour ago and i waited on line for 30 minutes!? I was told "sorry come back in a hour and a half." I returned back to walgreens a hour later, this time trying my luck in the drive thru. I could see people through the window still waiting in line!! At the window I was told "5 minutes and it should be done". 10 minutes later the pharmacist comes to the window and asks for my name and information again... Give them the information again "5 minutes". After 10 min I finally got the prescription (10pm)- when the pharmacy was closing. read more

Why do I need to make another trip to the pharmacy because they ran out of paper to print my prescription receipt on?!?! Are you serious?!?! I definitely do not like Walgreens I know two separate Walgreens the one on Barnum Avenue in Stratford and the one on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton both of them I know for a fact that they gave the people someone else's prescription they gave them the wrong prescription!!' Wow! Can you imagine if they took the pills without even looking at the label! How stupid can they be also I have waited unlined for at least 1015 minutes and they didn't even acknowledge that I was there they just walked around past the counter and never even acknowledge that I was there. And now my foot doctor accidentally sent my prescription to Walgreens again and they actually all went out for lunch they can't take their lunch at a separate time so that it doesn't close !!! I go all the way down there to pick up a prescription and I have to wait until around for an hour! What an inconvenience that is! Especially if I'm also on my lunch! Then I get 20 little pills and a huge bottle apparently they don't care about the earth at all or recycling!! It's such a waste. Another horror show! Printed my prescription label and put it on my wife's medication. Thankfully not a blood pressure or chemo drug! I cannot describe how incompetent this place is. My fiancee and I have been there numerous times for several different prescriptions, and they mess 90% of them up. They almost never fill the right prescription the first time, any scheduled pill they will consistently screw something up to throw you off schedule. And the lead guy (I wish I got his name) is a nasty, rude, miserable human being. The rest of them have no emotion and do not seem to care at all how much their incompetence messes with your health. We only still went because of proximity to home, but we just switched to another pharmacy ten minutes away because we couldn't take it anymore (they rang us up for the wrong prescription the other day again of course) and when we opened it and saw it was wrong, we gave it back and said this is wrong, refund it, and we will call it in elsewhere. We thought we escaped from them, but when we got to the other pharmacy tonight, the prescription wouldn't approve because Walgreens said we picked it up yesterday. They never fixed it in their system to show they messed up and we walked away empty handed. After another 20 minutes on the phone with the insurance company, we finally got them to allow them to fill it. Hopefully this is the end of our run with Walgreens. Seriously, read through all of these reviews, and take your business elsewhere. There is another Walgreens in Shelton on Center Street that is smaller and has limited supply of some drugs, and sometimes they need to pull in from other pharmacies. But it is good for basic/common prescriptions, and they are nice people. There is also a CVS equally distant in the other direction (Stratford) and we know people who go there regularly. Definitely the worst place to get your prescription's filled!!! When you call to reorder your prescription the recording will give you the pick-up time however, DON'T BELIEVE IT! What they don't tell you is it will be out of stock. The would rather have you waste 20-30 minutes of your time waiting in line for something they don't have in stock!! I complained about this to management and they don't care! Try calling this place and talking to someone you may ask? Pharmacy has major issues. Please do not tell your customers that their prescriptions will be ready if they won't be. Especially if you have no intention of filling it whatsoever until you receive a phone call a day later asking "what the heck is going on?" This is our medicine, we rely on it. This happens each and every time. Customers: Do not expect to drop off your script and come back with it ready (even with a promised time). You will need to contact them at least once more. Terrible service whether in store or drive-through and the absolute worst is via phone! When you call you're repeatedly put on hold so fast that you can never capture the person on the other end to get in one word and then you're disconnected after holding for 20 min! I have gone inside and watched as they constantly answer phone immediately placing the person on hold over and over while never taking the call or making person wait forever and this is also when there are no customers! They are fixated on their computers doing their work processing other stuff and don't put the customer first...it's unbelievable! This is by far the worst pharmacy to have anything filled from. The staff is rude and incompetent. I had a script called in and 4 hours later they tell me there is nothing called in. Then I complain and the script magically appears. Unacceptable! They need new management - new staff- new everyone there. When the pharmacy open across the street they will lose what ever business they have. If I could give zero stars I would. If you need anything urgent or life-saving please don't use this pharmacy. The pharmacy at this location is horrible! The wait times are always excessive and when you get up to the window there are 14 people behind the counter but no one that can help you. I have horror stories about my medications not being filled because they "didn't feel like it". This place is absolutely terrible. I called before picking up my prescription seeing as I was driving out of my way, showed up, and the prescription wasn't ready. No big deal, it happens. They said to come back in an hour, I came back in 3, just to ensure I wouldn't waste the ride. The pharmacist then told me my order was never even "put through" the system, and that I would have to come back in 2 more hours. This is the third time this has happened to me in less than a year. Staff is unfriendly, lazy, slow, and rude. Arrived when the store is supposed to open. The doors were locked. Two cashiers just stared at me for 30 seconds before one rolled her eyes and slowly walked over. Then she didn't unlock the door where I was standing. She unlocked the other. It only took two seconds to walk around the guard rail, but it was a deliberate slap in the face. Picked up a basket full of items. As I searched my wallet for my card, the same unfriendly woman refused to take any items out of the basket and start ringing them up. She waited for me to remove them. I know life is not great when the best job you can get is an early morning gig that a chimpanzee could do. But that's not my fault and I didn't need the attitude at that time.
