Here's why I strongly recommend avoiding Walgreens @ N. 30th St. in Omaha if you need a Covid 19 PCR test:
I self-swabbed at the outdoor window after giving the pharmacist or clerk my ID and reservation info. I returned the sample and departed. I then waited until well-after the 72 hour processing time indicated on the forms (48-72 hr window).
Okay, no email or phone update, no text update. So I call the Walgreens where I was tested and they told me I had been given written instructions on how to contact LabCorp, CLICK. So I searched around and found only a used swab pouch and instructions on how to swab. So I called back and they said they had no responsibility for what happens to a test.
So then I saw that PWNHealth was listed as the contractor responsible for contacting me regarding results. I found this info on the Walgreens website. A taped message said I needed to wait until the results were overdue and then send them an email message with my requisition number. Requisition number?
So I called PWN back and this time I talked to a person. This person found my name and the requisition number. She gave me a phone number to LabCorp (but not an office in Omaha) and asked me to tell them my name & requisition number.
So I called LabCorp and the person on the line asked me to spell my name. Repeatedly. 5x. 6x. Finally: Sorry, you aren't in our system! I asked them to try the requisition number. The person said her office doesn't use requisition numbers. She said that requisition numbers were meaningless in her office. She opined that the sample had probably fallen out of a delivery truck. Nice! Blame FedEx!
I called my insurance to see if there was a billing request. They said no. So none of the unfeeling, disorganized partners (Walgreens, PWNHealth, LabCorp) have tried to commit insurance fraud yet. Small blessings!
My testing experience at the N. 30th St. Walgreens was dehumanizing, unhelpful and could well have contributed to a bad medical outcome. read more
