Zero stars if possible. It's almost criminal how poorly this pharmacy is run, I'm sure I'm far from the only one who goes without their medication due to the ongoing incompetency of their staff. I get my controlled substance medication through tele-health, which cannot be transferred, so I have no choice but rely on whenever they feel like answering the phone which is NEVER. I have logged several hours between yesterday and today waiting to get my medication, each time I was either disconnected or had waited too long and had to hang up to tend to other things in my life... When you call they initially connect you to a call center with a "pharmacy tech" to appease you I suppose, then you will be sent to the 7th circle of Muzak call hold for up to half an hour where you will then be disconnected. Has happened sooner in the multiple times I've called in the past couple days in the vain attempt to get my prescription refilled (again, it's tele-health so they don't get auto-filled, I have to call and go through this absolute nonsense) This is a years long pattern with no indication of changing, I will definitely be switching pharmacies. Not that they give a shit. read more

While the staff at this location are kind and seemingly capable, they are simply unable to run a functional pharmacy operation. Whether due to staffing issues, poor management, or some deeper dysfunctionality with the Walgreen's business model, I routinely encounter difficulties getting prescriptions filled in a timely manner and without a large degree of hassle. Just today I waited on hold three separate times (for 15 minutes each), only to have my call abruptly disconnected THREE SEPARATE TIMES when I finally made it to the top of the call queue. No pre-recorded voice warned me of the impending call drop...just an abrupt and (oddly appropriate) three-tone eff you! They also have recently closed their drive-thru service to all non-Covid customers so that Covid tests can be administered as a drive-thru service. I find this unacceptable, as they are, first and foremost, a pharmacy. This decision has resulted in long lines inside their store, making it impossible to distance from other customers who may or may not be ill. This also requires their ill customers to enter the store and stand in long lines waiting for their medication. This is not good customer service; it's barely service. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. Walgreens merchandise has always been very expensive but this particular pharmacy is a disaster. Everybody I talk to agrees and has the same problems. It is understaffed, there is always a long wait and "computer problems," and they will tell you RX is ready when it is not and you always have to come back a few hours later. For literally years my family has received voicemails from Walgreens saying prescriptions are ready for pickup. We go, and the employees look at us like deer in headlights. They have no idea what we're talking about and say they don't have anything for us. I say, I received multiple voicemails about it. They say they don't have anything and deny that anybody called us, so I had to play the tech the voicemail. She said the computer made a mistake and come back in a few hours. What year is this, 1997? I've written to management and corporate and only get stupid form letters back that neither acknowledge the problems or our inconvenience, nor offer any concrete solutions to the store's problems or olive branches to make it right for customers. I tried going to CVS but Blue Cross Blue Shield's corrupt PBM only lets their policyholders use Walgreens (projectile vomit), Walmart (dry heave), Jewel, or Costco. I recommend Jewel or Costco instead. You do not need to be a member to use Costco's pharmacy. Or, find a community pharmacy near you that takes your insurance. read more

Convenient location and usually really well stocked. Pharmacy is quick and easy experience. Photos center however is always a disaster. They can never find the order because the organization is non existent and each time I have to go back for a redo or some issue. I decided to do my photo cards there this year, my fault for not opening box before getting home because now I have to back for them to give me the right envelopes. Every time i fill a script (i get 2 meds filled every month for years) it seems to be rocket science to count pills, label, and fill. This particular time, a newer pharm tech gives me attitude right out of the gate. Tattoos exposed, loud and abrasive. Saying the quantity is a little messy so it will be a while. Finally fed up w this location, I asked why is it always a problem here? Its the same as it was last month and years back. She loudly exclaimed "I'm trying to be professional" to which i responded, "Obviously not." Advice - Go down the block to CVS if possible or another half mile to another Walgreens location. As a grown man, with a family, being treated like a druggie is offensive. As I've learned, most of the techs are... Large and very clean location, open 24 hours, including the pharmacy. It's very easy to get in and out with the parking around the building and three main streets surrounding. It's always busy...however they truly make sure you are in and out as you should in an convenience store. This location has a good selection of products and it's well organized in correct sections. Lots of small snacks, including fresh fruits, good wine selection, yes at Walgreens, you don't say that often. Fresh flowers and so much more. The pharmacy has a drive-thru, with an easy in and out access to the street. read more

I just have to add this little anecdote. I'm standing in line at the pharmacy. 3 or 4 back. A Walgreens employee walks up near the line (probably 15 feet from the counter) and yells, "Hey, is this covered by insurance?" Everyone waiting in line and those waiting at the clinic turn to see what she's talking about, since there's really nothing better to do. We see what she's holding in the air. Yet, the pharm tech says, "What?" and the employee says, "Plan B! Is Plan B covered by insurance?" Pharm tech yells back, "Yeah, by Public Aid." Employee nods to customer in the affirmative. If you don't know, "Plan B" is an emergency contraceptive. So, all of us (those waiting at pharmacy and those at clinic) now know that this customer may have a pregnancy which she did not plan, and which she may wish to terminate, and, yes, that she is on Public Aid. Does this seem right? Yeah, I didn't think so. read more

Wow. After my most recent visit here, I'm never going to this place again. I needed to pick up my prescription at their pharmacy, and as usual I went through the drive-thru. When I asked the employee for it, she said that she couldn't give the prescription to me because, "The doctor doesn't know who you are." What? I tried to get more information from her because that's never happened to me before, but her basic response was, "That's not my responsibility." So, I just drove home angry and frustrated. When I got home, I checked the Walgreens app on my phone. The prescription I ordered said, "Ready" in the status of it. Hmm... I opened my email, and wow, sure enough there was an email from Walgreens with the subject, "There was an error filling your prescription," sent just as I walked in my home. So Walgreens sent me that email right after I went to pick up my prescription, even though I had ordered it about four days prior. Thanks for the effort, Walgreens! Top notch customer service! Like I said, I'm never going to this place again. read more

This is the worst Walgreen's ever (followed closely by the one off Broadway in Edgewater). There is always a line. ALWAYS. You can never run in for anything without spending at least 5 minutes waiting to check out. I can see not expecting to get in and out quickly every time, but regardless of what time I've tried coming in here, I know that unless it's after midnight and before 5am, I'm standing in line. And that's assuming they actually have in stock what I need to buy. There's been at least 4 totally unrelated and not obscure products I've tried to buy regularly here (like chunky chips ahoy cookies, for example) that at first were often out of stock, then they just stopped carrying (even though I can find the same products at their other locations).Then there's the pharmacy... 1. If you need to call the pharmacy, expect to give your information and discuss your reason for calling twice - that's every single time you call. Why? Because first you get a useless pharmacy tech that can't do anything but listen to your problem, before stating they'll need to transfer you to the pharmacy and you'll need to restate your problem. I'm not even kidding. There's no longer a way to call directly to the pharmacy without having your time wasted. 2. If you ever need the brand version of a prescription, good luck getting it without a hassle. It doesn't matter that the physical prescription has the doctor's signature next to "brand, do not substitute." It doesn't matter that you tell them you want brand only, or that your insurance only covers brand (for one med in particular mine does). Expect it to be wrong the first time, every single time, even if you've been coming here every month for years. Yes, every month for years. Even if they've noted that in your profile, it will be wrong, because they have to make the effort to look at those notes. Even if the note about wanting that medication in brand prints out NEXT TO YOUR NAME ON EVERY PRESCRIPTION YOU FILL, they will still process it wrong the first time, every month. read more

Nothing too special here. Newly remodeled and is pretty nice. Love their point system you just gotta stick with it. Their lot can be hectic and busy, I think partly because you've got coffee shops there with Jimmy johns which are your in & out kinda places. And their redbox is outside on the W side. Very nice staff for the most part. read more

This is definitely the nicest and most extensive walgreens I've ever been to. The selection of everything here is pretty good, including groceries and alcohol. I was there twice on Saturdays and they always have multiple cashiers to help ring up customers. We did picture processing here too, and you can upload pictures straight from your phone. Just ask them for the USB cord and you don't have to bring yours! The parking lot is the biggest issue with this place. With people all up in arms about getting their Starbucks or JJ sandwiches, there is a lot of chaos in the lot. I do like though that you can exit onto Plainfield to get back onto first ave without making a left. read more

Called to talk with the pharmacy on a RX mix up. Waited over 35 min on hold with a message that they were busy and if I wanted I could leave a message. I drove over to the store in frustration only to find them short staffed with a huge line! I gave up and went home. I didn't take my needed medication for that day and went the early the next morning to pick up the medication. Very disappointing! It looks like I need to explore other options and look for another pharmacy that my heath insurance will accept. read more

I had a fantastic experience at the clinic today. Made an appointment at 5:00 and was already in the room with a tech, getting my health history and vital signs and a strep test at 5:04. Not long after I was seen by the nurse practioner who could not have been more thorough and caring. She spent way more time with me than my regular doctor ever does. At 5:40 I was out the door with a scrip for some allergy medicine! Consider that last week I waited in an orthopaedic surgeon's office for NINETY minutes past my appointment time. My experience at this Walgreens clinic was far and above what I am used to. I will also say the store is big, new, very well lit and very clean. Maybe I was there during an off time, but it was not crowded at all. I'm so happy this is on my way home from work. I will be stopping there more often! read more

Browsing around, found a present for the nephew. Awesome. Beer? Acquired and mere minutes from entering my belly. Wine? Shockingly, yes - not the best, but good enough. Chocolate? I have no idea how, but the GF found some. Good experience, but any sort of place or location I'd stop at with any knowledge of the area or any choice. But I can't complain. read more

Pharmacy has worst customer service I've ever experienced. Staff looks miserable and are unpleasant to deal with. Lines are long because there is typically only one station open, even though there are several people behind the counter. Be prepared to spend an hour or more waiting in line. The pharmacy staff has no sense of urgency and apparently no understanding that people are here for important medical needs. I have never been able to pick up a prescription when it was promised, and instead of acknowledging the problem or trying to resolve it, they are rude and argumentative. Today I have been here for 2 hours and am still waiting to pick up a simple antibiotic for a child. The tech says it takes 2 minutes to fill the prescription, but the pharmacist needs to approve it before I can pick it up. He's on lunch. No ETA. Yep. Been here for 2 hours. I see from reading other reviews that I'm not the only one frustrated bu this store. When will Walgreens get a handle on this? The pharmacist and the store manager are either unable or unwilling to figure it out. They told me that I might have better luck calling their District Manager, Bryan Biederman at (630) 985-7189. I have to admit something right off the bat- I am a CVS girl. I have not always been, but the more I visit this Walgreens pharmacy, the more I choose to fully remove myself from this company. I know that not every Walgreens is the same, so obviously my concerns are associated with this one. The building itself is always very clean and tidy. The fresh food display provides healthy and quick meals on the go and I am always pleased with the selection. Additionally, the customer service staff are kind and efficient no matter what time of day it is. However, the pharmacy is a completely different story. This pharmacy used to be great- timely, kind, considerate, etc. This was a long time ago and within recent months, everything has changed. If you plan on picking up a prescription, please set aside at least 20 minutes to do so. There is no point in going through the drive-thru, because it usually takes longer and it is oftentimes out of order. Additionally, the pharmacy staff have changed within the last few months and suddenly seem to be less than interested in anyone's needs. They have been nothing but slow and rude and it is quite upsetting considering the amount of business this particular Walgreens gets on a routine basis. They are going to continue to lose customers in their pharmacy if things don't change. As many people choose to do, I have chosen to re-fill prescriptions using their online site. The most recent issue I had with them took place just this week. I had chosen to auto re-fill my prenatal vitamins a month ago since I would obviously continue to need them throughout the duration of my pregnancy. Two days ago I looked up my information on the website and it stated that auto re-fills will begin in April. Well, they should have started at the beginning of this month as I indicated when I signed up for it. Additionally, when I re-did my re-fill request (requesting that my prescription be available on Tuesday), I receive four different emails. The first stated that my re-fill would be ready at the requested date of next Thursday. The second stated Saturday, the third Wednesday and the fourth said my prescription was ready. What in the world could have happened for that many problems to arise when attempting such a simple request? I am getting ready to go pick up my prescription soon and I know that I will need to eat ahead of time because I will be waiting so long that lunchtime will probably pass by. It's time to go with CVS. read more

Slowest pharmacy ever dropped off a prescription for my mother who had open ear surgery today at 2:30 it is now 6:30 and it's still not done. Yet there are 4 people back there. I don't hear phones/cars pulling up and u have a line of 10-15 people and only one person ringing. This is Unacceptable for customer service standards. The Lyons Walgreen's still sucks. The doctor prescribed a prescription for my husband, three months ago. with refills. I called to refill the prescription Thursday. It's Saturday. When I phoned, the clerk said, there's one refill left, and stated, pick-up after 7am, Friday. My husband expected to collect the refill within a 10-minute period. But, nope, 15 people in line, their prescriptions were messed up. After 45-minutes he was called. The clerk said, 'I'm sorry, we'll have to call your doctor.' WTH!! Unbelievable. We walked into the take care clinic at 3pm, closed sign was already up. The hours posted were until 4pm. I politely asked if they were closed and the nurse responded, "she's not taking anymore patients." The waiting area was EMPTY. Must be nice to make your own hours at work. Went to there take care clinic two days in a row because I was still feeling ill. Nurse with short hair and always wearing blue tights was a total bitch. It was clear I was defiantly still sick and she refused to even check me out. She said "You have already been diagnosed what do you want me to do?". Won't ever come back here again and will make a point of it to let all my customers and team members to go else where if you want to get diagnosed.
