It usually lasts for 9 days and is held in May, July and October. This is one of the oldest markets in Munich and, dates back to the 14th century. The Auer Dult is considered to be the largest crockery market in Europe. Pots, porcelain and other ceramic wares are available at numerous Standl (stands). In addition, other household accessories, natural healing remedies, jewellery and clothes are available. Many stands also offer antiques. As with most markets and festivals, there are numerous food stands dotted throughout the place and, there is a small fairground with numerous rides for kids and adult kids ;-)) There is also a mini biergarten that serves beer and food, however, getting a seat on a busy day could be a challenge. Sundays are not great as it gets really crowded and that was certainly the case today, aided by great autumn weather. I did enjoy it and glad we went there. A friend of mine who lives in the area told me about it and I was glad he did :-)) Will come back here again in the future. Tip: try the waffle on a stick dipped in dark or white chocolate, it's divine ;-))

What a happy find! The BF and I spent about 3 hours here today going through the stalls. We bought small gifts for friends and family from several fine artisans. I especially loved watching the cooking and kitchen tool demonstrations from some amazing salespeople. Even though I don't speak any German, it was perfectly clear what they were saying about the various cookware and tools they demonstrated. If I lived In Munich this is absolutely where I would come to buy kitchen goods, dishes, garden ceramics, and more. Lovely antiques section too. Check the calendar and go!

It's a fabulous festival with loads of beer tents, food shops, stages for gigs and all sorts of shops selling jewelery, packaged food products, musical instruments and so on. On a nice day this place is busy as it was tonight. Loads of great bands and acts come here to entertain audiences and there are also a lot of free concerts and acts on . In terms of food choice there is plenty and you could spend a whole evening just eating and drinking your way through the place. There are also a number of cocktail bars and coffee shops. Spent a bit of time in the Delhi tent and it was extremely lively and loads of people dancing and having a good time. This was also my favourite as it was colorful and lively with loads of dancing and Punjabi music. I had some Rosemary potatoes, onion pakoras, Lahmucan and frozen yogurt and the quality was quite good. I just wanted do keep ploughing through the food tents one by one. It all looked great. Many of the food stalls had huge queues so be patient. Munich does festivals brilliantly and this is no exceptions. This is certainly an annual event we will happily come back to.
Fun fun fun till the end of the day!!! Bio-Öko-Toller Ort!!!…read more This year was already two times there. Despite the special bus, it is not so simple to get there with the public transport, given that most people will need at least 2 connections and the special bus, which is always really full. But, once you get there, this really does not matter. :D There is really a lot to do there: eat great food from around the world, drink glamorous cocktails, shop quality fair-trade products for you and for your house, go to a music concert, and even dance at the Tanzbar. Since I am crazy about Indian food, I went straight to the Tandoori booth. There you can order a Thali, Choras, Chicken Curry, etc. together with a delicious Naan bread made in the tandoori oven on site. Naan made in the tandoori oven is way much better than the ones made in a frying pan. A must is the fresh coconut which you can drink the water and afterwards eat the pulp. And there is even a Schwäbischer burger a.k.a. Maultaschen burger. I have to try it! Yesterday at the Tanzbar there was even a Brazilian Forró show where everyone could join, listen to the music, and dance Forró, a typical Brazilian couples dance. Wow! A lot to eat, a lot to shop, a lot of people to meet, a lot to do... Tollwood once again, why not?!

This market is very popular and the crowds back this up. If you visit during the day it's slightly less crowded, and in the evening it's packed with people drinking gluhwein up until the market closes. The booths offer a variety of items, food and drinks and you'll find a lot of gluhwein options with a variety of mugs. If you purchase gluhwein there will be a pfand charge that you can get back if you return the mug. You'll be able to find ornaments, soaps, honey, crafts, decorations, toys, and more as you browse. There are some booths that have similar items, as well as some booths with unique items. It's worth looking through all of them if you're looking for gifts. The food offerings are also great, you can find sausages, spätzle, sweets, and more. It's all delicious and there are multiple booths offering these things so you can find a shorter line to make your purchases. Other than the market, the city center itself is gorgeous. If you're there at the right time you'll be able to hear the clock chime and see the animatronics in action. It's very cool to see. Depending on your party and how they like these type of things, plan for at least half a day; the place is enormous and easy to get lost in, which is half the fun.
