We spent one Sunday night here…read more The facilities were basic but adequate. The bathroom was okay. My husband said the men's was dirty. The ladies' was okay. The shower was a general shower (no privacy). The toilets were very private, though, but one roll of t.p. for everyone to use (you took it before you go into the stalls). We set our tent up away from the other tents, but quite a distance from the bathroom. Lots of the other tenters were up all night, however, drinking and laughing loudly, so apparently there is no quiet hour. It was quite loud til 2 am but some were up as late as 5:30 am. This was the hardest thing for us since we didn't sleep well because of this. Since we were a family, it was not necessarily a pleasant experience. The other facilities, however, were fine. There was a nice beach and a place to eat on site with kiosks. You can't park your car next to your tent. You leave it in a parking spot, and it costs 2.5 E for parking. There was no working employee the night we were there, on site. The reception doesn't open til 8 am and closes by 3 pm daily. It isn't very friendly for people who are traveling and using the place like a hotel. It was sufficient for sleeping. The party atmosphere was a huge negative for us, but there were plenty of places to pitch our tents. I wouldn't stay there again, however. I'd search for a quieter place. There are plenty in Germany.

Had I known about the price for the hotel/hostel, I probably would have chosen that option. 1) The place operates as cash only 2) They offer breakfast but that begins at 8:00am. 3) To get to the place, take the U7 to Holzhauser Strasse; take either bus X33 or 133 in the direction of Rathaus and pay attention to the bus' stop info and get off at Gartenfeld 4) The driveway (Gartenfelder) is not paved and not lighted 5) Yes the location is near Tegel airport but the flights stop after 11:00 pm, oh and within zone B (for your bus ticket, pass) 6) The bathrooms are super clean and the shower water VERY HOT.
