Wildridge is the real thing and a gerat thing. It is in conrtrast to paying a lot at "comfortable" hotels and bed and breakfasts, only to be disappointed with bland appointments, noise generated both on the properties and by road traffic. I'm so tired of being missled by the hype re. other "inns" advertised in various travel ads. That does not happen here! Wildridge is a great and unique break from all of the typical "travel" or synethtically "quaint" bed and breakfast inns!! Wildridge is the "real deal"; reeking of history, comfort, elbow room, privacy, and the obvious updating done by the owners that does not in any way scream "overrestored" or fake...just real and very comfortable. Amenities include a rapid heating hot water system which is a wonderful find and pelasure after a long day. The cabin features a genuine wood stove for heating should you choose not to use the electric heat. Privacy is abundant, views and elbow room abound...a very comfortable place to stay in a very convenient location. I needed a chance to recharge so I flew up from LA and met a long time friend from Berkeley for some wine tasting, new restaurant experiences and a chance to reconnect. We had a great time. After leaving the main road, the private drive takes you into a sheer oasis. The grounds and surrounding hilly meadows are covered with huge Oaks and Madrones with bright green leaves and red berries. The cabin itself was clean and quiet and had everything we needed--two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and large but cozy living room. We chilled out in front of a potbelly stove, our cares melting away, and later fell asleep to the chirping of crickets. I loved the fact that this relaxing setting was so close to St Helena and the many restaurants and wineries in the area. The Waldbaums were friendly and helpful, sending us in the right direction but not intrusive. All in all, the experience was a great respite. read more
